The globalization of manufacturing has increased the risk of counterfeiting as the demand grows, the production flow increases, and the availability expands. The intensifying counterfeit issues causing a worriment to companies and putting lives at risk. Companies have ploughed a large amount of money into defensive measures, but their efforts have not slowed counterfeiters. In such complex manufacturing processes, decision-making and real-time reactions to uncertain situations throughout the production process are one way to exploit the challenges. Detecting uncertain conditions such as counterfeit and missing items in the manufacturing environment requires a specialized set of technologies to deal with a flow of continuously created data. In this paper, we propose an uncertain detection algorithm (UDA), an approach to detect uncertain events such as counterfeit and missing items in the RFID distributed system for a manufacturing environment. The proposed method is based on the hashing and thread pool technique to solve high memory consumption, long processing time and low event throughput in the current detection approaches. The experimental results show that the execution time of the proposed method is averagely reduced 22% in different tests, and our proposed method has better performance in processing time based on RFID event streams.

Although Active Power Filter can achieve good filtering effect and accurately compensate harmonic current, it dependents on the proposed current detection algorithm. The paper first discusses the method which is based on transient reactive power theory; the detection method is based on coordinate transformation. After the coordinate transformation is analyzed, the paper advances an harmonic method, this method can remove three-phase to two-phase and two-phase to three-phase coordinate transformation, and effectively reduce the computation, improve the detection speed. At last, the feasibility and validity of the new algorithm have been showed by MATLAB simulation

Facial recognition has attracted the attention of researchers and has been one of the most prominent topics in the fields of image processing and pattern recognition since 1990. This resulted in a very large number of recognition methods and techniques with the aim of increasing the accuracy and robustness of existing systems. Many techniques have been developed to address the challenges and reliable recognition systems have been reached but require considerable processing time, suffer from high memory consumption and are relatively complex. The focus of this paper is on extracting subset of descriptors (less correlated and less calculations) from the co-occurrence matrix with the goal of enhancing the performance of Haralick’s descriptors. Improvements are achieved by adding the image pre-processing and selecting the proper method according to the database problem and by extracting features from image local regions.

Costs Analysis of Iron Casts Manufacturing The article presents the issues of costs analysis of iron casts manufacturing using automated foundry lines. Particular attention was paid to departmental costs, conversion costs and costs of in-plant transport. After the Pareto analysis had been carried out, it was possible to set the model area of the process and focus on improving activities related to finishing of a chosen group of casts. In order to eliminate losses, the activities realised in this domain were divided into activities with added value, activities with partially added value and activities without added value. To streamline the production flow, it was proposed to change the location of workstations related to grinding, control and machining of casts. Within the process of constant improvement of manufacturing processes, the aspect of work ergonomics at a workstation was taken into account. As a result of the undertaken actions, some activities without added value were eliminated, efficiency was increased and prime costs of manufacturing casts with regard to finishing treatment were lowered.

The additive manufacturing (AM) of products involves various processes, such as raising the temperature of a work-piece (part) and substrate to the melting point and subsequent solidification, using a movable source of heat. The work piece is subjected to repeated cycles of heating and cooling. The main objective of this work was to present an overview of the various methods used for prediction of the residual stresses and how their contributions can be used to improve current additive manufacturing methods. These novel methods of manufacturing have several merits, compared to conventional methods. Some of these merits include the lower costs, higher precision and accuracy of manufacturing, faster processing time and more eco-friendly approaches to processes involved.

Blacksmith is a people's business that has been going on for a long time in Indonesia. Based on the experience that has been obtained from time to time and hereditary, the blacksmith industry has been done by the community to meet the needs of agricultural and household utensils. However, observe to this people's business, now it decreases with various causal factors, such as the ease of imported goods on the market with lower prices. Many creative efforts need to be carried out so that these people's businesses remain and increasingly develop, among others by improving the quality of the process of a blacksmith so that their products are quite competitive. This article describes the results of the research in the laboratory regarding the physical processes of heating and quenching under blacksmith, which the results have been applied to community service activities at the Suger Kidul villages in Jember Regency. The study aimed to find the most appropriate procedure for steel tool manufacturing processes so that the blacksmith products have high quality as high hardness. The physical process for blacksmith process is heating and quenching. This study analyzes the proper heat (temperature), proper processing time, and proper media for heating and quenching to produce good harness quality of the product.

Abstract. At present, most of the researches on geometric change detection of vector data, they store the change detection results in the database, so they pay more attention to the accuracy of results, but not to the speed of processing. Nowadays, many applications require real-time change detection on vector data and rapid presentation of the result. Although the existing algorithms use spatial index technology to improve the processing speed, the processing time is still beyond the range that people can bear. In order to reduce processing time, this paper takes the vector surface feature set as the research object, trying to reduce the redundancy of the candidate set that seriously affects the efficiency of change detection. Based on the regular use of spatial index created with geometric Minimum Bounding Rectangle, this paper uses geometric shrinkage technique and precise query technique to reduce the size of the candidate set for detection, so as to achieve the goal of speeding up. Finally, using five years of farmland data and resident data from Ezhou City, Hubei Province, China, a change detection experiment was conducted. The experiment proved that the geometric shrinkage and precise query techniques can effectively improve the processing speed.

Accurate and efficient detection of cell nuclei is an important step towards the development of a pathology-based Computer Aided Diagnosis. Generally, high-resolution histopathology images are very large, in the order of billion pixels, therefore nuclei detection is a highly compute intensive task, and software implementation requires a significant amount of processing time. To assist the doctors in real time, special hardware accelerators, which can reduce the processing time, are required. In this paper, we propose a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation of automated nuclei detection algorithm using generalized Laplacian of Gaussian filters. The experimental results show that the implemented architecture has the potential to provide a significant improvement in processing time without losing detection accuracy.
