Teaching of science subjects in developing countries is still geared around traditional methods. This study aimed at teaching science students through scientific argumentation as a newer method for teacher instructors and students in Pakistan. The objectives were to develop argumentation skills in science students using Inquiry Led Argument Framework (ILAF), to explore the effectiveness of the new framework and to assess the quality of arguments generated by students using ILAF. The sample consists of two sections of bio-ethic course in a large public-sector university serving as experimental and control group. Before introducing ILAF in the experimental group, it was carefully designed, validated and pilot tested with the students. The progression in argumentation skill was monitored through written argumentation reports collected during the semester while, the effectiveness of ILAF was found through comparing the students’ academic performance with a control group at the end of semester. ILAF was found effective in developing argumentation skills and improving students’ academic performance as compared to students in the control group. The students’ quality of argument improved with practice. ILAF as a newer approach has the capacity to serve as a useful framework for teacher educators and science teachers in developing argumentation skills in students besides improving their academic performance

Abstract Background: New protocols applied in the rehabilitation of Parkinson's disease enable different action strategies for health professionals, as well as a new range of activities for these individuals. However, no valid samba protocol with activity prescription for this population was found in the literature. Objective: To investigate the feasibility of a Brazilian samba protocol in individuals with Parkinson's disease. Methods: Twenty participants, mean age of 66.4±10.7 years, diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson 's disease, divided into: experimental group that received the intervention of Brazilian samba dance classes (10 individuals); and control group that maintained their routine activities (10 individuals). For data collection, a divided questionnaire was used: General Information; Disability stages scale; Balance and Quality of Life. Results: During class implementation, there were no falls, as all dance activities adhered to the details of the protocol steps without any changes. On average, patients completed 82.7% of activities. After 12 weeks, the experimental group had improvements in the UPDRS global score, in daily activities, and on motor examination. There was also improvement in balance scores and in the mobility domain of the quality of life in the experimental group. Conclusion: The samba protocol seems to be feasible and safe for patients with PD. Moreover, it has pleasant characteristics and offers sufficient physical benefits for combination with drug treatment. There were also benefits in social relationships and as a possible rehabilitation tool in individuals with Parkinson's disease.

Hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage is a common condition in clinic. Due to the improvement of minimally invasive technology, its therapeutic effect is good, but there are still postoperative complications. The corresponding routine nursing intervention is not effective in the rehabilitation of postoperative patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. In this paper, cluster nursing was applied to the treatment of postoperative patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. For this purpose, a retrospective study or experiment was conducted on 150 patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage in the hospital specifically from January 2019 to December 2020. According to the nursing strategy, patients were divided into experimental (n = 75) and control groups (n = 75), respectively. The control group adopted routine nursing mode, whereas the experimental group adopted cluster nursing mode. The treatment compliance of patients in the experimental group was 86.67%, while that in the control group was 73.33% ( P  < 0.05). The total incidence of postoperative complications in the experimental group was 3.2%, which was lower than 25% in the control group ( P  < 0.05). The motor function score of the experimental group was better than that of the control group ( P  < 0.05). The application of cluster nursing in postoperative patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage is feasible, and its nursing effect is significant, which can not only reduce the incidence of postoperative complications but also improve patients’ compliance and quality of life. It has good application value.

This study investigates the effect of the 5E Instructional strategy on the development of critical thinking skills of intermediate third graders through Jurisprudence course compared to the normal way of teaching. In order to achieve this goal the researcher adopted a pre- post two- group (experimental and control) quasi- experimental research methodology. The tool of the study was a critical thinking skills test based on Mary McFarland's strategy. After the validation and calculation of the tool's reliability, the researcher piloted the tool at a random sample consisting of (63) female intermediate third graders in thirtieth Medina School. The study used a number of appropriate statistical analyses which included: means of scores, standard deviation, alpha Cronbach coefficient reliability test of critical thinking skills, and T- test for independent samples to ensure group homogeneity of study groups, and to see the effect of using the 5E Instructional strategy on developing the critical thinking skills of the students. The obtained results indicated that there are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (a = 0.05) between the mean scores of experimental group and control group students in the critical thinking skills test in favor of the experimental group. In the light of these results, a number of recommendations have been made, namely: religious science teachers should be supervised towards more attention to the development of critical thinking skills; paying attention to the involvement of the student in the learning process; encouraging students to express their opinions and being able to defend their point of view in order to increase the level of critical thinking skills and finally to employ the 5E Instructional strategy in teaching jurisprudence course. Based on the findings of the study, a group of suggestions for future studies have been made that can be considered as extension to the current study.

Purpose: This study investigated the effect of Multimodal Instructional Approach on students’ academic performance in the concept of Biological Classification at Navrongo Senior High School, generally, and on gender basis. Methodology: The study adopted quasi-experimental research design. The sample comprised of 100 Navrongo Senior High School Form Two Gold Track and Green Track science students. Students from the Gold Track and Green Track were designated experimental group and control group respectively. Each group was made up of 25 males and 25 females. Pretest was administered to all the participants. The experimental group was taught using Multimodal Instructional Approach. The control group was taught using Discussion as the teaching method. A posttest was administered to both groups to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. The reliability of the test items was determined using test-retest reliability coefficient. The test-retest reliability coefficients of the instruments were found to be 0.73 and 0.78 for the pretest and posttest respectively. The data obtained were analysed using independent sample t-test. Results: The pretest test scores revealed that the students were homogeneous in terms of performance. Posttest results of students in the experimental group were significantly higher than the control group. There was no significant difference in the performance of males and females. The results of the posttest revealed that the use of MIA in teaching biological classification was more effective than discussion method. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: This study recommended that Biology teachers in NSHS should be encouraged to teach Biological Classification using MIA in order to improve the academic performance of both male and female students. School authority should invite educational technologists, instructional materials technicians and computer experts to help science teachers of NSHS on how to incorporate ICT in teaching science subjects.
