The chief characteristics of electric buses in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness, and convenience for passengers are analyzed. It makes it possible to speak of advantages of electric transport compared with transportation means on traditional fuels. Considering the issue of rational application of electric buses in cities, it is possible to rely on European cities’   positive experience.  Ever more and more of developed countries all over the world use ecological transport in the urban transportation networks. On the example of the studied Polish cities, namely Katowice, a positive trend in the growth of electric buses application in the city’s transportation grid can be observed, which  enables the authors to conclude that the city of  Kharkiv alsohas a great technical potential for introducing electric buses to the city routes network. Electric buses are already starting to appear in several cities of Ukraine in the transport network, but it is necessary to increase the percentage of ecological buses, to develop certain concepts and strategies to increase this type of transport.

This paper presents the research on human capital in the global ranking studies and determining the place of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv in them in terms of human capital indicators, in order to increase the efficiency of using human capital and achieve competitiveness in this field. International rankings are an important tool for positioning countries and cities in the international arena and allow an objective assessment of the level of competitiveness of Ukraine and, in particular, the city of Kyiv in comparison with other countries and cities of the world. The author analyzes human capital development using global ranking studies such as the Institute for Management Development (IMD) Smart City Index, IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking, and IMD World Talent Ranking. With the help of these studies, the author examines: the ranking position of Kyiv among other cities in the world by the Smart city index; the scores of Kyiv among European cities on the level of IT skills at schools; the accessibility level to go to schools providing high quality education of the vast majority of Kyiv pupils among other European cities; Ukraine's place in the world on the sub-factor "teaching and education" during 2015-2019; Ukraine's place in the world on the criteria of "graduates in the field of ICT, mechanical engineering, mathematics and natural sciences" during 2018-2019; as well as Ukraine's place in the world on the sub-factor "concentration of science" during 2015-2019. To assess the development, involvement, and retention of highly qualified specialists in Ukraine, Ukraine's ratings were monitored for the following factors: investment and development (the amount of allocated resources for the cultivation of its own human capital), attractiveness (the degree of involvement of local and foreign talents) and readiness (the quality of skills and competencies available to the country) during 2011-2019. The research makes leads to the following conclusions: the competitive advantages of human capital development in Ukraine include the amount of resources allocated for the cultivation of its own human capital; the level of education and training in Ukraine in general and the city of Kyiv in particular, as well as the productivity of R&D in publications; the competitive weaknesses include the lack of a motivational component, as well as the recruitment and retention of highly qualified personnel, and, as a result, a significant level of "brain drain" abroad. In order to use human capital effectively, Ukraine should attract highly qualified workers to the R&D field as soon as possible. It is extremely important and, unfortunately, almost underdeveloped in Ukraine to motivate their activities, borrowing the experience of developed countries. In this case, the country will get rid of such a significant level of outflow of qualified personnel abroad, will concentrate more quickly on the production of science-intensive high-tech products, and will become competitive in the field of human capital and high technologies.

With the development of society and the Internet and the advent of the cloud era, people began to pay attention to big data. The background of big data brings opportunities and challenges to the research of urban intelligent transportation networks. Urban transportation system is one of the important foundations for maintaining urban operation. The rapid development of the city has brought tremendous pressure on the traffic, and the congestion of urban traffic has restricted the healthy development of the city. Therefore, how to improve the urban transportation network model and improve transportation and transportation has become an urgent problem to be solved in urban development. Specific patterns hidden in large-scale crowd movements can be studied through transportation networks such as subway networks to explore urban subway transportation modes to support corresponding decisions in urban planning, transportation planning, public health, social networks, and so on. Research on urban subway traffic patterns is crucial. At the same time, a correct understanding of the behavior patterns and laws of residents’ travel is a key factor in solving urban traffic problems. Therefore, this paper takes the metro operation big data as the background, takes the passenger travel behavior in the urban subway transportation system as the research object, uses the behavior entropy to measure the human behavior, and actively explores the urban subway traffic mode based on the metro passenger behavior entropy in the context of big data. At the same time, the congestion degree of the subway station is analyzed, and the redundancy time optimization model of the subway train stop is established to improve the efficiency of the subway operation, so as to provide important and objective data and theoretical support for the traveler, planner and decision maker. Compared to the operation graph without redundant time, the total travel time optimization effect of passengers is 7.74%, and the waiting time optimization effect of passengers is 6.583%.

: Relying on the experience of the “lost decade”, Japan emerged from the world economic crisis of 2008–2009. faster compared to other developed countries. But full-scale national anti-crisis programs, the main of which in the real sector of the economy were transport infrastructure projects, inevitably put a heavy burden on the country’s budget. Since 2010, the economy has shown signs of recovery. However, the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 caused huge damage to the entire Japanese economy and transport in the Tohoku region. It entailed significant costs for the restoration of transport. Since 1990, the share of transport in GDP and the structure of goods transported by individual modes of transport have remained the same: road and sea coastal transport played a major role in domestic transportation, while maritime transport played a major role in international transport. The importance of rail transport in passenger transportation has been preserved and even increased. Transport fully met the needs of the economy and was one of the means of bringing the economy out of the crisis. The ocean of economic and natural shocks that befell Japan made the inhabitants of this country look in a new way at the prospects for the development of transport. The new strategy for innovative development provides not so much an increase in speed, but rather the reliability, safety and environmental friendliness of transport. Implementation of the achievements of the 4.0 revolution has become an urgent need. The entire economy of the country and its place in the world economy to a large extent depend on the pace of transition to a new model of transport.

As a high-efficient travel mode in modern city, the metro can not only relieve the ground traffic pressure, but also become the exhibition hall of the urban culture showing us the soul and value of the city. Metro visual communication design of developed countries in the world is almost closely related to the origin of urban culture, then the metro culture with local specialties has been formed. Therefore, comparative study on status quo of metro visual communication design both at home and abroad can direct the integration and regeneration of urban metro visual communication design and urban culture of China, as well as the formation and development of the metro culture.

The city of Barcelona, like other cities in the world, suffers strong internal socio-economic inequalities in its neighborhoods. Numerous works have sought to detect, quantify, characterize, and/or map existing intra-urban differences, almost always based on quantitative methodologies. With this contribution, we intend to show the importance that qualitative methodologies can play in studies on urban socio-environmental vulnerability. We consider aspects that are not quantifiable but that may be inherent to many such vulnerable spaces, both in the constructed environment and in the social ambit. These questions are considered through selected neighborhoods of Barcelona which have been shown (in prior works, mainly studies of quantitative manufacturing) to possess elements of vulnerability including a high presence of immigrants from less-developed countries, low per capita income, aging populations, or low educational levels. The results reveal the multidimensionality of vulnerability in the neighborhoods analyzed, as well as the essential complementarity among methodologies that detect and support possible public actions aimed at reducing or eliminating intra-urban inequalities.

The tendency to transform the old industrial areas began in 1950-1960 last century in Europe and America. By the end of the twentieth century with the development of the world economy, the time has come when the transformation of industrial infrastructure is becoming a comprehensive phenomenon. Currently, in the economies of developed countries, forms of transformation such as global mergers, takeovers, re-equipment and re-functioning are being intensively implemented. Based on the analysis of positive foreign experience, the main directions of humanization of the urban environment are considered through the transformation of industrial facilities. The transformation of industrial facilities and their territories with a change in functionality becomes the main direction of humanization of the urban environment in the XXI century. Numerous architectural and compositional techniques are allowed to adapt any industrial facility in the dynamic infrastructure of the city.

The article is concerned to a special subspecies of German broadsheets of 17th century which were depicting cities. The inclusion of such works in the generally accepted concept of a broadsheet requires convincing evidence, because the city is also an object of topographic views. However, an analysis of the characteristics of such this subspecie of German broadsheets allows us to perceive them as a synthetic work of Baroque, which, using various methods, turned the topographic view of the city into a kind of portrait, recognizable because of its specificity. Thus, such portraits of cities became part of popular culture, they were not only a manifestation of the generalized interest of the Modern era to the world, but also was kind of entertainment, perhaps even a tourist product, and the creators of it invariably followed the rules of Baroque verisimilitude. One of the most successful cases for studying concrete examples is the publishing house of Paul Furst in Nuremberg, which specialized in creating high-quality broadsheets, involving professional engravers and poets in his work. A significant number of Fursts broadsheets which were depicting European cities were based on modern topographic views.
