The scientific novelty of the results presented in this article is to substantiate and expand the possibilities of using global and local geographic information systems (GIS) to assess the potential of renewable energy sources in Ukraine. GIS analysis focused on key resource parameters can help identify territories for development of renewable energy sources and assess of their possible technical potential, as well as the possibility of effective integration of technologies for the use of renewable energy sources in the energy sector of Ukraine. In this paper the possibilities for using geographic information systems to assess the potential of renewable energy sources in Ukraine are analyzed. The possibility of using the Global Atlas of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to support planning of technologies for the use of energy from biomass is analyzed. The data can point to large-scale programs and applications in relation to key parameters (quality resources, transmission distance, population density, terrain and site protection), helping identify additional areas for development of renewable energy sources and give an approximate assessment of technical potential. It is determined that the software products of IRENA are able to support national and regional planning of renewable energy technologies, help establish the viability of future renewable energy facilities and help project developers identify and analyze promising facilities for the implementation of technologies using renewable energy. The application of geographic information systems of Ukrainian web resources (“UA MAP”) for assessing the potential of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in Ukraine is been analyzed. The scientific novelty of the results lies in applying global and local GIS for comprehensive assessment of the potential and effectiveness of the use of regional non-traditional and renewable energy resources on the territory of Ukraine. This makes it possible to assess the possibilities of generating additional electric and thermal power for the needs of the regions of Ukraine using non-traditional and renewable energy sources. A comprehensive methodology for the use of GIS is proposed for assessing the potential of non-traditional and renewable energy sources at the regional level in Ukraine, taking into account energy, environmental and socio-economic factors affecting the placement of non-traditional and renewable energy facilities.

Currently the speeding up of digital transformation makes it obvious that application of digital technologies and the degree of involvement into digital transformation is an essential and significant aspect of scientific and technical potential of an industrial enterprise. The article is devoted to the analysis of trends and prospects of development of basic technologies which are the basis for digital transformation of the world economics: the Internet of things, artificial intelligence, robotization and technologies of the big data processing. The authors present the assessment of the current state of digitalization for Russian industrial enterprises by analyzing the data on the implementation of the above mentioned technologies in business-process.

The activities of mankind in the past at least 70 years have led to the disruption of the planet's ecosystem with the prospect of serious consequences for life on Earth. To start at least slow down their action, only global scientific and technical solutions with very short periods of their implementation are needed. The article proposes to carry out the separation of fumes before their emission into the atmosphere, during which, to carry out the selection of greenhouse and toxic components of fumes, with the aim of their further utilization or neutralization. Protecting the atmosphere from smoke and eliminating the shortage of freshwater are purely technical areas that will not create unsolvable problems for the modern scientific and technical potential of mankind. All that is needed is a proactive management, ideologically aimed at solving these technical problems in an emergency mode.

Abstract Electrification is a key strategy for decarbonizing the industrial sector. Industrial process heating, which still relies heavily on fossil fuel combustion and accounts for the majority of sector wide GHG emissions, is a particularly attractive electrification target. Electrifying industrial boilers represents a cross-cutting opportunity for GHG emissions reductions, given their widespread use in most manufacturing industries. Yet, there are gaps in the understanding of the current population of conventional industrial boilers in the United States that preclude a characterization of boiler electrification’s technical potential to reduce fuel consumption and GHG emissions. In this study, we develop an up-to-date dataset of the industrial boiler population in the U.S. and quantify the county-level electricity requirements and net changes in fuel use and GHG emissions under the current electric grid and theoretical future grid scenarios. Our results show an increase of 105 MMmtCO2e and 73 MMmtCO2e in GHG emissions from boiler electrification, with and without the replacement of byproduct fuels, respectively, under the current electric grid. GHG emissions savings are currently possible only in certain regions of the U.S. unless future grids are decarbonized. We also provide recommendations for policy makers and manufacturing facilities that would advance the electrification of industrial boilers in locations and industries toward fuel savings and GHG emissions reductions.

The aim and objectives of the article are to analyze fraudulent phishing schemes and develop recommendations for Internet use and relevant regulatory tasks. The relevance of the article is due to the peculiarities of working in cyberspace with the emergence of new sources of banking risks, both for customers and organizations. The scientific novelty of the manuscript consists of a detailed analysis of phishing schemes, the development of recommendations and directions in relation to the Russian Federation. The object of the study is cyber fraud in the credit and financial sphere; the subject is social engineering and phishing schemes. The methodology of the paper includes a systematic analysis of the literature and sources on the research topic, general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, deduction, analogy, classification), correlation analysis of data, graphical visualization of information. The authors consider the main methods of phishing and the most common techniques used by cybercriminals. Based on the critical analysis of the literature the authors determined a promising direction for the scientific and technical potential of Russia. A correlation analysis of the relationship between the number of cybercrimes and commercial banks is performed. The study offers recommendations to Internet users (how to recognize the signs of fraud), and to regulatory bodies on improving the system of supervision over the dissemination of information in cyberspace. The authors concluded that it is necessary to increase the level of cyber literacy and general literacy of the population, on the one hand, and to modernize the methods of supervision and control of the information posted on the Internet, on the other hand, to effectively counter financial and cybercrime. The research results can be used in the further development of remote banking services for the population to increase competitiveness in the banking services market. Prospects for further research on this topic lie in expanding its structure, developing the competencies of specialists in the field of remote banking technologies, as well as developing the scientific and technical potential of Russia.

The recovery and utilisation of industrial excess heat has been identified as an important contribution for energy efficiency by reducing primary energy demand. Previous works, based on top-down studies for a few sectors, or regional case studies estimated the overall availability of industrial excess heat. A more detailed analysis is required to allow the estimation of potentials for specific heat recovery technologies, particularly regarding excess heat temperature profiles. This work combines process integration methods and regression analysis to obtain cogeneration targets, detailed excess heat temperature profiles and estimations of electricity generation potentials from low and medium temperature excess heat. The work is based on the use of excess heat temperature (XHT) signatures for individual sites and regression analysis using publicly available data, obtaining estimations of the technical potential for electricity generation from low and medium temperature excess heat (60–140 °C) for the whole Swedish kraft pulp and paper industry. The results show a technical potential to increase the electricity production at kraft mills in Sweden by 10 to 13%, depending on the level of process integration considered, and a lower availability of excess heat than previously estimated in studies for the sector. The approach used could be adapted and applied in other sectors and regions, increasing the level of detail at which industrial excess heat estimations are obtained when compared to previous studies.

The chief characteristics of electric buses in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness, and convenience for passengers are analyzed. It makes it possible to speak of advantages of electric transport compared with transportation means on traditional fuels. Considering the issue of rational application of electric buses in cities, it is possible to rely on European cities’   positive experience.  Ever more and more of developed countries all over the world use ecological transport in the urban transportation networks. On the example of the studied Polish cities, namely Katowice, a positive trend in the growth of electric buses application in the city’s transportation grid can be observed, which  enables the authors to conclude that the city of  Kharkiv alsohas a great technical potential for introducing electric buses to the city routes network. Electric buses are already starting to appear in several cities of Ukraine in the transport network, but it is necessary to increase the percentage of ecological buses, to develop certain concepts and strategies to increase this type of transport.
