Retail trade occupies an important part of the life of society because it is directly aimed at satisfying its needs as a consumer and is a source of material wealth for the seller. This sphere of activity is an independent branch of the national economy, which has emerged because of commodity exchange processes designed to meet the various needs of human society. Everyone of society, as a result of the implementation of exchange operations, has the opportunity to receive for the final individual use what he needs. The seller, in pursuit of his own benefit, relieves the manufacturer of the need to search for a buyer for his products. From this point of view, the role of retail trade in the reproduction cycle is extremely important, since, specializing in specific operations, this industry is not only an intermediary, but also a catalyst for mutually beneficial interaction of all participants in these relationships. Virtually everyone in both developed and developing countries is involved in retail operations on a daily basis.

The article proposes a model for evaluating the activities of retail enterprise, which is based on five stages and allows determining ways to increase the efficiency of functioning, which will improve the adaptive properties of the economic object. The analysis of types of KPI is carried out, process and functional approaches are identified as the main ones for the direct development of key performance indicators, as well as the characteristics of the evaluation of effective marketing at enterprises, including those that function in the sphere of retail trade, are determined. The authors considered how modeling and forecasting of key financial indicators of an enterprise contribute to the creation of strategies for its development. The article notes that for the initial evaluation of a retail enterprise focused on long-term success, it is mandatory to conduct an audit aimed at assessing the efficiency of the economic object and defining how quickly the enterprise adapts to dynamic environmental conditions. The carried out analysis allowed to identify the key factors that contribute to an improvement of the enterprise’s operation. Also, on the example of the Isikawa diagram, the ratio of KPI, strategies and understanding of business processes was considered in order to set, control and analyze the achievement of goals.

The primary goal of retail operations similar to any other business is to make a profit by satisfying consumer needs. To achieve the goal and ensure competitiveness retail enterprises need to carry out their operations as efficiently as possible by applying the latest, most modern work organisation methods. Work efficiency can be achieved by reducing supply chain costs which in turn can be achieved through successful cooperation among all the parties involved. Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) is not just a new approach to process organisation in retail trade but affects all business processes as a whole taking them to a totally new and much higher level, thereby ensuring an increase in customer satisfaction and loyalty levels. The aim of the present research is to review the latest scientific literature on ECR, understand its working principles and carry out a survey of experts in order to ascertain the level of application of ECR in retail enterprises in the Baltic States and put forward recommendations for the enhancement of application of ECR.

Quality of life and satisfaction with life as tightly interconnected concepts have become of much importance in the urbanism era. No doubt, it is one of the most important goals of every human society to enhance a citizen’s quality of life and to increase their satisfaction with life. However, there are many signs which demonstrate the low level of life satisfaction of Iranian citizens especially among the youth. Thus, considering the temporal concept of life satisfaction, this research aims to make a futures study in this field. Therefore, using a mixed model and employing research methods from futures studies, life satisfaction among the students of the University of Tehran were measured and their views on this subject investigated. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analysed together in order to test the hypotheses and to address the research questions on the youth discontentment with quality of life. Findings showed that the level of life satisfaction among students is relatively low and their image of the future is not positive and not optimistic. These views were elicited and discussed in the social, economic, political, environmental and technological perspectives. Keywords:  futures studies, quality of life, satisfaction with life, youth

This article considers the features of electronic document management at retail trade enterprises of the FMCG-segment. The paper observes the types of document flow at chain companies and examines the process of implementation of electronic document management system. The notions of “electronic document management” and “electronic data interchange” are also distinguished in the article. The paper explores positive changes caused by the introduction of electronic document management and the complexity of its implementation. The study reveals that in the Russian Federation the process of mass introduction of electronic document management in the chain retail companies of the FMCG segment has been ongoing for about ten years, though has reached the highest level of its activity in the last two years. At present day, the major part of chain retail companies in the FMCG-segment has already started to actively work with the Electronic Data Interchange system. Moreover, in recent years the number of partner-enterprises that join this system has been steadily increasing. The results of the study show that introduction of electronic document management in chain companies of the FMCG-segment allows to reduce the time spent for processing documents and to track all stages of the core business processes more effectively. It also ensures information security, improves staff discipline and the quality of service, which in its turn significantly improves management efficiency of the company in general.

SUMMARY: This study develops a framework for a continuous data level auditing system and uses a large sample of procurement data from a major health care provider to simulate an implementation of this framework. In this framework, the first layer monitors compliance with deterministic business process rules and the second layer consists of analytical monitoring of business processes. A distinction is made between exceptions identified by the first layer and anomalies identified by the second one. The unique capability of continuous auditing to investigate (and possibly remediate) the identified anomalies in “pseudo-real time” (e.g., on a daily basis) is simulated and evaluated. Overall, evidence is provided that continuous auditing of complete population data can lead to superior results, but only when audit practices change to reflect the new reality of data availability. Data Availability: The data are proprietary. Please contact the authors for details.

One of the ways to increase glass furnaces energy efficiency is to apply heat exchangers for flue gases thermal potential utilization. Flue gases losses is up to 25-40 % of the total amount of heat supplied in the furnace. These losses are influences by such factors as fuel type, furnace and burners design and manufactured product type. Regenerative heat exchangers with various types of heat storage packing is more efficient for high-power furnaces. Such types of regenerator checkerwork as Cowper checkerwork, two types of Siemens checkerwork, Lichte checkerwork and combined checkerwork have already been sufficiently researched, successfully applied and widely used for glass furnaces of various designs. All of its are made of standard refractory bricks. Basket checkerwork and cruciform checkerwork that are made of fused-cast molded refractory materials have been widely used recently as well. Further improvement of regenerative heat exchangers thermal efficiency only by replacing the checkerwork does not seem possible unless their size being increased. But this enlarging is not always realizable during the modernization of existing furnaces. From this point of view heat storage elements with a phase transition, where metal salts and their mixtures are used as a fusible agent look promising for glass furnaces. These elements can accumulate additional amount of heat due to phase transition, which allows to increase significantly heat exchanger thermal rating without its size and operating conditions changing. However, it is necessary to carry out additional studies of this type of checkerwork dealing with analysis of complex unsteady heat exchange processes in regenerators and selection of appropriate materials that satisfy the operating conditions of regenerative heat exchangers so that the checkerwork can be widely used for glass furnaces.

Presenting information to a wide audience through digital signage has now become a very popular way in both public areas (shopping centers, exhibitions) and areas accessible by limited groups of people (condominiums, office buildings). This method of information delivery can be used both for advertising and for non-commercial information. Although targeted information delivery to one person (for example, banner ads on web pages) is already very well developed, the design of digital signage systems that provide targeted information has not been paid enough attention. The paper proposes an approach to providing information through targeted digital signage. The research method used in this work is based on the design science research (DSR) approach. This is an approach to problem solving, motivated and initiated by a specific business problem and trying to solve this problem by creating and verifying information technology artifacts, such as prototypes, models, methods, or architectures. Based on this method, the problem was refined, in particular, from the point of view of the housing industry, which led to the development of a new solution to support business processes of stakeholder groups in the industry. Verification of the draft decision showed that additional technological solutions are needed, such as user identification support, search for common preferences for a group of users, ensuring confidentiality of interests and preferences of individual users. The paper also proposes technologies for user identification and finding common interests and preferences.

Abstract Late medieval Sweden was a multilingual society. At least three languages ‐ namely Old Swedish, Low German, and Latin ‐ were in use, beside other regional languages. While the influence of Low German is easily detectable in all parts of the Swedish language system and has been investigated rather thoroughly from a historical sociolinguistic point of view (cf. Braunmüller 2004), the role of Latin has been rather marginalized in traditional Swedish language historiography, focusing on the earlier stages of Old Swedish, which are described as its classical form (cf. Pettersson 2005). Starting out as the language of religion, administration, diplomacy and, to some extent, trade, Latin was the dominant language of text production in Sweden until the 14th century, which saw Written Old Swedish gain some domains as well, resulting in a more balanced diglossic relation between the two languages. The emerging written variety of Swedish, however, was heavily influenced by the multilingual practices of scribes, in large part clerics who were used to using at least Swedish and Latin on a daily basis for a variety of communicative purposes (Höder 2010). These multilingual practices, ranging from ad hoc translations via code-switching to the application of Latin stylistic, textual, and syntactic norms in Swedish text production (Höder 2018), had a lasting impact on the later development of a Swedish proto-standard, and are still reflected in conservative text types today. This contribution approaches this development from a historical sociolinguistic and contact linguistic perspective, concentrating on the establishment of multilingual practices.
