<p>This research was conducted with the purpose of knowing the influence of self-efficacy and positive thinking towards problem-solving ability in mathematics. The hypothesis of this research includes: 1) there is a direct influence of self-efficacy against mathematical problem-solving ability. 2) there is a direct influence ability of positive thinking towards problem-solving ability in mathematics. 3) there is a direct influence of self-efficacy against the ability of positive thinking. 4) there is an indirect influence self-efficacy against the ability of problem-solving through positive thinking. The methods used in this research is a survey method and hypothesis testing using path analysis. Large sample as many as 60 students, with a sampling technique used, was a combination of proportional and random, taken from the three high schools. The research instrument used is self-efficacy of 30 statements, positive thinking of 40 statements, test problem-solving skills in the form of essays as many as 10 questions, which have been tested the validity. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that: 1) there is a significant direct influence self-efficacy against the ability of mathematical problem-solving. 2) there is a significant direct influence ability of positive thinking towards problem-solving ability in mathematics. 3) there is a significant direct influence self-efficacy against the ability of positive thinking. 4) there is a significant indirect influence efficacy of self against the ability of problem-solving through positive thinking.</p>

Mathematical problem-solving skills in learning physics is important. According to the preliminary study conducted at MTsN Jambi, it is known that the mathematical problem solving ability of students in learning physics still low. This study aims to improve the mathematical problem solving capability by applying the team assisted individualization and self-efficacy cooperative learning model. This study was experimental research by using questionnaire self-efficacy instrument and essay test. The population of this study was seventh grade students MTsN Jambi. Data analysis was performed by using two ways-ANOVA and Tukey test. The results shows that: (1) cooperative learning model of TAI influences to students’ physical problem solving capability, (2) SE influences the students’  physical problem solving capability, (3) there are differences in high SE students’  physical problem solving capability by using cooperative learning model type TAI from those who using conventional learning models, (4) there are differences in low SE students’  physical problem solving capability by using cooperative learning model TAI type than those using conventional learning model, (5) there is no interaction between the cooperative learning model of TAI and SE of students in MTsN Jambi.

This study was a pretest-posttest designed control group experiment, aimed at reviewing the role of inductive-deductive approach on Islamic Junior High School students’ skills in mathematical problem solving and self efficacy. This research involved 56 grade eight students, a set of problem solving ability tests and a set of self efficacy scale. The result found that in the extent of mathematical problem solving skills and self efficacy, students who received problem solving-based learning achieved better quality than students who received conventional learning, either overall or based on the early mathematical ability (EMA). The interaction between learning and EMA in achieving and increasing problem solving skill showed no significant difference. Other than that, we found robust association between mathematical problem solving skills and self efficacy.

This study aimed to determine the improvement of mathematical problem solving abilities and self efficacy students of  Junior High School through the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach. The method of this research is the quasi-experimental method with the research design of the post-test control group design. The population in this study was the seventh grade of  SMPN 1 TelukJambe Barat City of  Karawang. Determination of the sample is done by the technique used which is not random so the class selected as the experimental class is class VII D and VII A as the control class. Instruments given to students in the form of test questions (pretest-posttest) related to indicators of mathematical problem solving abilities. Analysis of data processing was carried out on the results tests of mathematical problem solving abilities of students at SMPN 1 TelukJambe Barat. To get the research data, the instruments were used in the form of tests (pretest-posttest) and self efficacy scale. The analysis of the study used the average difference test. The results of the study concluded: (1) Achievement and improvement of mathematical problem solving skills that are learned by using contextual teaching and learning approaches are better than students who receive learning with a scientific approach. (2) Mathematical self efficacy of students who learn to use Contextual Teaching and Learning is better than students with learning using a scientific approach.

<p>The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Think Pair Share with the comic of 7th grade students’ ability to solve mathematical problems in SMP 9 Yogyakarta. This type of research is an experiment with posttest-only-control design. The sample used in the study determined by cluster random sampling technique. The results of hypothesis testing using the t-test showed that tcount is greater than ttable, in other words, Think Pair Share learning with comic generates better mathematical problem solving skills to students than think pair share only. Furthermore, Think Pair Share with the comic is more effective when viewed from the ability to solve problems.</p>

The purposes of this research is to the differences in mathematical problem-solving skills enhancement and self-efficacy among students who had learned Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and students who received conventional instructions. Reseach use quasi-experimental was used pre-test research design posttest control group design. The experimental group was treated using RME  approach while the control group gain use conventional approach. To gather the instrument is the form of mathematical problem solving ability test, and a questionnaire to determine students' self-efficacy toward mathematics. This research was conducted at Secondary Islamic School . The population is  grade VIII students MTsN Model Banda Aceh inl year 2012/2013. The samples were  two classes, VIII-7, class as the experimental class and the control class VIII-6, by purposive sampling technique. The researc found that studens mathematical problem-solving ability which were taken by with RME approach better than conventional approaches. Based on the analysis of self-efficacy RME class increases more than the self-efficacy of students who received conventional learning. Furthermore there a relationship between the ability of solving mathematical problems with self-efficacy of students in the experimental class and control with very low qualifications.

This study aims to determine whether the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving skills that get the learning of Model-Eliciting Activities is better than students who get regular learning. Method in this research is experiment and research design pretest and postest in experiment and control class. The population in this study were all students of MTs Kota Cimahi. School samples were taken at random, and obtained by MTs Negeri Kota Cimahi. Then the sample is selected two class VIII at random class. The experimental class uses Model-Eliciting Activities, while the control class uses ordinary learning. The hypothesis in this research is the improvement of student solving abilities of MTs students in Cimahi whose learning using Model-Eliciting Activities is better than using ordinary learning. Research data obtained through the instrument of posttest mathematical problem solving ability. The posttest data is processed by normality test, homogeneity test, and two average difference test using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) software version 16.0 for Windows. The results showed that the improvement of problem solving ability of MTs students in Cimahi whose learning using Model-Eliciting Activities was better than those using ordinary learning.
