Some problems are faced by students in reading of English text. The interesting strategy is needed to teach them. Story Pyramid Strategyis one of strategies to teach reading comprehension. This strategy forces students to review and summarize the main points of a story. The research aimed at knowing the effectiveness of using story pyramid strategy in teaching  narrative text toward students’ reading comprehension was conducted in SMAN 1 Serang. The research design of this reseacrh was quasi experimental research with quantitative approach. The  research  finding  showed  that  Story Pyramid  Strategy  is  effective in  teaching  narrative  text  toward  students’ reading comprehension to Senior High School.

The problem formulation of this research are: What is the students’ ability in reading comprehension . Design of this research was quasi experimental research, by conducted Pretest-treatments-posttest procedures. While the subject is 27 students of junior high school in the school year 2017/2018. The object the researchis the student’ ability in reading comprehension. To collect the data, the writer uses some tecniques suchas test and document. Data processing in this research is divided into five phases: validity, reability, Scoring the test, ranking  and mean,median and mode then all the data are analyzed quantitavely The result finding of this research was the mean score students' reading test is 77.41, the value of median is 65, and the value of mode is 80.The performance on posttest show that the students’ ability in reading comprehension is outgrowth, the students obtained positive progress in learning reading skill.

This research aimed to find the use of Patterned Partner Reading strategy improve the students reading comprehension at the SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. The researcher used A Classroom Action Research (CAR). The researcher had conducted two cycles, where each cycle consisted of four meetings. This classroom action research was one at SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. As subject in this research was the second class with students’ number as about 30 students consist of 7 man and 23 women. The instruments were observation sheet and test sheet. The research findings indicated that the application of patterned partner reading strategy was effective and significant in improving the students’ reading skill especially students’ reading comprehension. It was proved that the mean score of D-Test was 60.8, Cycle I 75.5 and after conducted Cycle II improved to 93 And based of mean score of students’ reading comprehension during two cycle researcher found percentage improvement that is from D-Test to Cycle I is 24.17% and from Cycle I to Cycle II is 23.17 and D-Test to Cycle II 52.96%. It means that there was the improvement of students’ reading comprehension on learning process.

Reading is one of language skills. To gain a good reading skill needs the right method.The problem of this research was improving Seventh Grade Students of SMP TerbukaFirdaus Bandung skill in comprehending explanation text by using Directed ReadingThinking Activity (DRTA) Cooperative Method. It aims at improving students’ skill incomprehending explanation text reading by using DRTA Cooperative Method. In thisresearch, the approaches used were quantitative and qualitative with classroom actionresearch as the research method. The population was 21 seventh grade students, firstsemester of 2016/2017 school year. The instrument for collecting data were done throughobservation and written test. The observation was conducted to collect data about thepreparation and application of DRTA Cooperative Method, while written test wasused to discover the ability of students in understanding explanation text. The result ofthis research was that the application of DRTA Cooperative Method can improve thestudents’ reading comprehension ability of explanation text in seventh grade classroomof SMP Terbuka Firdaus, Bandung. AbstrakMembaca merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa. Untuk memperoleh kemampuanmembaca yang baik, diperlukan suatu metode yang tepat. Masalah penelitian ini adalahpeningkatan kemampuan siswa kelas VII SMP Terbuka Firdaus, Bandung dalam membacapemahaman teks ekplanasi melalui model kooperatif Directed Reading Thinking-Activity(DRTA). Tujuan yang diharapkan adalah meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam membacapemahaman teks ekplanasi melalui model kooperatif DRTA. Dalam penelitian ini digunakanpendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Populasiberjumlah 21 orang siswa kelas VII, Semester 1, Tahun Pelajaran 2016/2017. Instrumenpengumpulan data melalui observasi dan tes tertulis. Observasi dilakukan untuk memperoleh data tentang persiapan dan pelaksanaan penggunaan metode kooperatif DRTA, sedangkan tes tertulis digunakan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam memahami wacana eksplanasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah penerapan model kooperatif DRTA dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks eksplanasi di kelas VII SMP Terbuka Firdaus, Bandung.

Abstract:In this research discussed about how the students the ability writing narrative text of the personal narrative tex in the story. This study aims to answer the problems: have the students mastered to write narrative text. What aspect writing of narrative text is still difficult for them to master to write. To what level is their ability on writing narrative text categorized. In this study, the writer use descriptive qualitative method and the way to get the data, the writer use the writing test. The populations of this study is the second grand students of SMK Negeri Nibaaf in the school year 2019/2020 consisting of class XII TRRH 21 students, but only 10 students were choosen as sample of this study. The result of finding show that the second ability in composing narrative writing with the instrument given is categorized good. It is SMK Negeri Nibaaf have abilities in composing a good narrative writing. It can be seen from the averange score of content is 4,1 vocabulary is 3,6 and language use is 3,8. After analized the data and got the result, the are some conclusion are all the students have mastered narrative writing. on the basic of the averange score good, vocabulary is difficult part of aspect of narrative writing. the students level of mastery is categorized good. It is based on the data that there are 4 of 10 on this level of mastery. Therefore, the second students of SMK Negeri Nibaaf have mastered in writing.Keywords: Ability, writing, narrative.

<p>This article discusses: (1) to what extent the use of videos and SQ3R method improves the students’ ability in reading narrative text; and (2) to describe the class climate when videos and SQ3R method are implemented in the reading class. The qualitative data were obtained by observation, interview, and questionnaire. And they were analyzed through: get to know the data, focus the analysis, categorize information, identify patterns, connection within and between categories, and interpretation. While the quantitative data were obtained by using test and analyzed by using formulas. The research result shows that (1) the use of video through SQ3R method improves the students’ reading skill; and</p><p>(2) the use of video through SQ3R method leads the class climate of reading class better  than the situation prior to the research implementation. They become more active, confident, and enthusiastic.</p><p align="left"> </p>
