Online media gives impacts on each individual's life because this stage can introduce an intuitive association between two individuals who are even far apart. Although it is loved and provided advantage by almost everyone, incidentally, web-based media has another side. Various detrimental consequences of online media are difficult to avoid. The development of information is changing society. Recently, electronic media has been demonstrated to transform people's personalities into virtual ones. The human character is described in all things considered, and people also shape themselves into something that becomes a trend. This study aims to determine the influence of social media usage on national identity and determine the positive and negative consequences of using social media that can affect national identity. This study uses the Literature Review (LR) strategy through a subjective methodology, which describes the problem to be contemplated and provides answers to defeat the problem in-depth and start to finish indicated by the side effects of the examination and the hypothesis used. The use of online media among the millennial or young generation is indeed less secure than adults. It cannot be denied that online media such as mobile phones, i-pads, or other gadgets are currently critical in everyday life. In Indonesia itself, these innovation advances have a positive impact but also have detrimental consequences. People in general also still need direct communication to reduce gaps or miscommunication between networks. However, some people like to be involved in workplaces with an open culture and flexible events, which can be reached easily by online media. The high application of online media in millennials causes simple changes in these young people's intellectual, emotional, and even behavior. Many millennial generations tend to use dialects that are not known as Indonesian or even imitating (westernized) clothing. Younger people generally feel happy when imitating foreigners, while foreigners embrace a free lifestyle compared to their society, which has begun to be compromised. Overall, we also see that many millennial generations need information about the importance of Pancasila as the image of the country, the state banner, and the state constitution.

Purpose Social media usage has become ubiquitous in our society – consumers are spending upwards of 20 percent of their media time on social sites interacting with friends, family and brands (Adler, 2016) and all of this usage is driving fatigue. The purpose of this paper is to examine how advertising factors such as attitude and intrusiveness impact social media fatigue as well as two consumer behavior factors, fear of missing out (FOMO) and privacy. Design/methodology/approach A 190-item questionnaire was developed and administered to an opt-in subject pool recruited for web-based research (i.e. online panel). A representative sample of 750 US social media users was recruited for the survey of which 518 respondents were valid and usable. Findings Results indicate that FOMO has the greatest impact on social media fatigue, not advertising factors as predicted. In addition, privacy concerns continue to plague consumers and should be monitored by advertisers. Research limitations/implications With regard to limitation, the survey contained a variety of self-reported measures that can tend to be under-reported, especially when it comes to social media usage as evidenced in a recent study (Adler, 2016). Originality/value This research undertook an investigation of consumer perceptions of social media advertising and how those relate to social media fatigue and psychological factors such as privacy and FOMO. In looking at these constructs, a clearer picture of how consumer perceptions of advertising impact levels of social media fatigue has emerged. In addition, the results provide a better understanding of FOMO, a psychological factor that significantly contributes to social media fatigue.

The current study aims to introduce online social media to support seaweed farmers and as a conflict resolution strategy. Seaweed farmers have the power to develop seaweed because the product has a positive impact on the socioeconomic. This study observes the roles of online media in supporting seaweed production. This research found that an increase in seaweed production can improve the economic conditions of the community. The weaknesses of seaweed farmers are their low capital, low skills, low level of education, and low support for infrastructure. One skill required is the mastery of technology, especially online media. Online media are one of the vital tools that can help seaweed business processes. Therefore, seaweed farmers should know how to use online social media. The potential cultivation of seaweed is very much enhanced by a pattern of cooperation between seaweed farmers, other farmers, and other collaborations. The threats faced by the research area include the diminishing desire of the younger generation to cultivate seaweed, the very low skill related to using online social media, and extreme weather as an annual problem. We find that the role of online media is crucial to minimizing the risk factors for conflict.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between social learning constructs and perceived learning performance in corporate informal Web-based learning environments. The study aims at providing significant implications for corporate educators who have worked on designing social learning environments in the workplace. Design/methodology/approach To identify the casual relationship of the proposed research model, data collected from 523 South Koreans who were corporate employees and social media users were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings The results indicate that self-motivation, learning community and social media usage were significantly related to perceived learning performance. In addition, social media usage mediated the relationship between the other social learning constructs and the learning performance. Originality/value Given that corporate personnel typically gain job-related knowledge and skills through social learning, corporate educators need to provide learners with social learning environments that are conducive to self-motivation and learning community. Social media, when used as a learning tool, might not sufficiently improve learning performance without the help of other social learning constructs. Findings shed light on which social learning constructs are essential to effective social learning environment design in the workplace.

This article presents voices from Egypt reflecting on the question of who has the right to have a voice in the country in the first half of 2016. In the spirit of the research project “In 2016,” it aims to offer a snapshot of how it “felt to live” in Egypt in 2016 as a member of the young generation (al-shabāb) who actively use social media and who position themselves critically towards the state’s official discourse. While the state propagated a strategy focusing on educating and guiding young people towards becoming productive members of a nation united under one leader, popular youth voices on the internet used music and satire to claim their right to resist a retrograde patrimonial system that threatens every opposing voice with extinc-tion. On both sides, a strongly antagonistic ‘you vs. us’ rhetoric is evident.
