The study was carried out to survey NCE students’ perceptions on use of library course as an aid to their use of library resources in Colleges of Education in South-West Nigeria. The descriptive survey design was employed and four research questions guided the study. From a population of 60,481 students, a sample of 1,210 was drawn using the proportionate stratified sampling technique. Meanwhile, out of the 1,210 copies of the questionnaire distributed, 1,097 were fully completed (filled out) as retrieved and analyzed. It represents (90.66%) or approximately (91%) response rate and considered adequate because the standard and acceptable response rate for most studies is 60%. A questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection after validation by experts in the field, and pre-tested through Cronbach Alpha method that yielded 0.743 aggregate values. Complete data subsequently gathered from 1,097 copies of the questionnaire retrieved were analyzed by employing the statistical mean to answer the research questions and criterion mean placed at 2.50. Among the major findings of the study were: Students perceived use of library course as an aid to their use of all library resource categories examined in the study (that is, reference, reserve, circulation and serials resources). The study therefore recommends that students should be given increased opportunity to access “use of library course programme” as a veritable tool of enhancing their capacity for adequate use of reference resources among others in colleges of education in the region to ensure their effective integration into our 21st century society even after college life.

The content and face validity of the instrument were adequately handled. Mean rating and percentage were employed to analyze research questions. Findings revealed that most likely, the respondents were matured enough either a male or female within the age of 22-54 years old. Thus, they can do the managing, adjust and have the capacity to perform multi-tasking. Based on the findings, discussions, and conclusions were drawn; recommendations made amongst others were that the employees should be rotated to the other job positions within the organization in order for them to be motivated to become effective and efficient workers. This was based on the four local government areas in the Education zone. A structured questionnaire in a four point Likert type format was used for data collection. The instrument had a reliability coefficient of 0.88, which showed a high internal consistency. Three research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test statistic was used to test the lone null hypothesis. Results of the study indicated that students perceived to a high extent; teachers’ interest, attitude towards chemistry and mastery of the subject as necessary characteristics in the teaching of chemistry. The hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance was not significant. Based on the results of the study and the educational implications of the results, recommendations were made.

Purposive sampling technique was utilized to raise a sample of 85 current and former Heads of Departments for the study. A 21 - item instrument titled “Politics of Accreditation Practices Questionnaire (PAPQ)” was drawn, validated and tested for reliability using Cronbach Alpha. The index of reliability was 0.84 which indicated the fitness of the instrument for use. Data derived from the instrument were analyzed using means and standard deviation. Findings indicated that politics has been part of programme accreditation practices. Aspects of politics of accreditation identified were: politics of funding, borrowed books to boost library stock, borrowed facilities, window dressing of facilities, among others. The major challenges to programme accreditation as identified by the respondents were inadequate funding, inadequate and obsolete facilities and too much paper documentation. The paper examined the perception of student counsellors studying Guidance and Counselling in various Nigerian Universities on ethical codes which should guide and protect the counselling profession. Four research questions were raised to guide the study and two corresponding hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted the descriptive survey design, with a sample of 1,500 students, drawn from selected Nigerian universities using the multistage sampling technique. The instrument used to gather data for the study was a 50 item questionnaire constructed by the researcher. The psychometric properties were determined and found adequate for use. The test-re-test method was applied to determine reliability which yielded r = 0.88. Senior lecturers in the Department of Guidance and Counselling ascertained content and construct adequacy of the instrument. Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer research questions and t-test to test the hypotheses. The study found out that respondents perceived counselling codes highly irrespective of their gender and religious beliefs although male respondents showed stronger agreement. It was therefore recommended that the Counselling Association of Nigeria should develop counselling ethical codes for professional counselling practice in Nigeria without considering any bias for gender and religion.

The purpose of this study was to find out how undergraduates of Federal University Gusau, Nigeria use the library resources The descriptive survey design was used in the study. The population was 3,728 registered library users from the three faculties in Federal University Gusau Library, Nigeria. Proportionate stratified sampling technique was adopted to ensure equal participation of the subgroups (Faculties) in line with their respective population and Krejcie and Morgan (1970) formula table for determining sample size from a giving population was used. Sample population of 346 was arrived at. The instruments for data collection were Students’ library registration record and a structured questionnaire. 346 questionnaires were distributed while 328 copies were returned and 282 was duly completed and found usable. The distribution tables for faculty, level and sex were analysed using simple percentage while the research questions were analysed using Mean and Standard Deviation (STD). The criterion mean, 2.50 and above was set for decision. 2.50 and above was considered positive (accepted) on any response to an item, mean score below 2.50 was negative (rejected). Major findings of the study are that Faculty of Science make most use of the Library. It was also found out that 200 and 300 level students make most use of the library. It was also discovered that Male students use the library more than their Female counterpart. Some of the challenges identified include lack of internet access, lack of information retrieval tools, opening hours etc. some recommendations were made including that the Library Management should enhance and provide more information retrieval tools (e.g OPAC, Index to its Serials materials etc.) to discourage users from going direct to the shelf to locate materials.

The study examined the availability and utilization of ICT Resources for teaching English Language in secondary schools located in Nsukka urban of Enugu state, Nigeria. Two research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. The design of the study was descriptive survey design. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 9 teachers out 29 English teachers from the 9 public secondary schools in Nsukka urban. One English teacher each from the nine schools making it a total number of 9 teachers were used for the study. Checklist and questionnaires were used to collect data. These instruments were validated by three experts from university of Nigeria Nsukka. Percentages, mean and standard deviation and t-test were used to analyse the data collected. The findings of the study revealed that only 3 ICT resources were available for teaching English language in secondary schools. The study also revealed that the very few that were available were grossly underutilized. This implied that the teaching of English which is known for its capacity to douse linguistic tension in our multilingual Nigeria is not effectively and efficiently taught and learnt. Previous studies identified low level of IP creation by lecturers in theseuniversities. To increase IP creation, lecturers’ perception may be a critical factor to investigate. To conduct the investigation, the study adopted the descriptive survey design of the correlational type. Equal allocation sampling technique was used to select 864 (11.25%) from a population of 7,678 lecturers in the three types of universities. Eight items were used to measure creation of IPand 16items were used to measure lecturers’ perception of IP. Reliability coefficient of creation of IPwas 0.83and lecturers’ perception was 0.79.Percentage, mean, t test, correlation, multiple regression and analysis of variance were used to analyse the data at 0.05 level of significance.Findings showed that creation of IPwas high (60.35%) and significant (=2.63). Lecturers’ perception of IP was (=2.55). Lecturers’ perception were also significant and showed positive relationship (r = .56) on creation of IP. Lecturers’ perception (β = 46made significant relative contribution to creation of IP in the universities.Creation of IP in universities in South-west, Nigeriacan be increased if lecturers’ perception of IP is enhanced in the universities.
