प्रस्तुत अनुसन्धानात्मक लेखमा प्रकट पगेनी ‘शिव’ को प्रणयवेदका ऋचाहरू गजलसङ्ग्रहमा प्रस्तुत पाठकीय प्रवृत्तिको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । गजलका प्रवृत्तिहरूलाई पाठकीय सिद्धान्तमा ढालेर गरिने विश्लेषणलाई पाठकीय प्रवृत्ति भनिन्छ । यहाँ लेखकीय अभिमत वा लेखकसँग कुनै सरोकार नराखी निर्वैयक्तिक रूपमा पाठकीय प्रवृत्तिका आधारमा कृतिको विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । प्रणयवेदका ऋचाहरू गजलसङ्ग्रहलाई प्राथमिक स्रोत सामग्री र गजल सिद्धान्तसँग सम्बन्धित ग्रन्थहरू, समालोचनात्मक कृतिहरू, समीक्षात्मक लेखहरू तथा शोध सामग्रीहरूलाई द्वितीय स्रोतका सामग्रीको रूपमा लिइएको  छ । यस लेखमा गजलीय सिद्धान्तका मान्यताहरूलाई आधार मान्दै पाठपरक विधिमार्फत विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । पाठकीय परिवृत्तका आधारमा विश्लेषण गर्दा प्रतिनिधिमूलक रूपमा गजलहरूका उदाहणहरू प्रस्तुत गरिएको छ । पाठकीय प्रवृत्तिका संरचनागत, विषयगत, अर्थगत र शैलीगत आधारहरूमध्ये संरचनागत र विषयवस्तुगतका आधारमा विश्लेषण गरिएको छ । संरचनागत प्रवृत्तिका आक्षरिक, शेर, काफिया, रदिफ र तखल्लुसहरूको प्रयोग गजलहरूमा भए पनि अक्षरगत र शेरगत प्रयोगमा एकरूपता भएको देखिँदैन । तखल्लुसको प्रयोग पनि गजलीय सिद्धान्तको मूल मर्मअनुरूप नगरी केवल प्रयोगका लागि मात्र प्रयोग गरेको देखिन्छ । गजलहरूको विषयवस्तुगत पक्षलाई नियाल्दा प्रायः सबै गजलहरूको विषय प्रणयपरक वा श्रृङ्गारिक (संयोग) रहे पनि एउटा गजलको विषय श्रृङ्गारिक कम तर नेपाली संस्कृति पक्ष सबल रहेको देखिन्छ । यसै गरी केही गजलहरू शब्दगत र भावगत रूपमा अति अश्लील रहेका छन् तापनि विषयवस्तुको कोणबाट यिनका गजलहरू मुसलसल शैलीमा प्रस्तुत भएका छन् । [This article analyzes the reading tendency presented in Hymns of Pranaya Veda, a collection of ghazals, authored by Prakat Pageni 'Shiva'. An analysis of the trends in ghazal based on the reader response theory is called reading tendency. Here, the work is analyzed based on the impersonal reading without any relation to the author's opinion. Examples of ghazals are presented representatively when analyzing the work. The ghazal collection itself is considered as the primary source material and the secondary sources include the texts related to ghazal theory, critical works, critical articles and research materials. In this article, the analysis is based on the basic tenets of ghazal and reader response theory. The analysis is based on the structural and thematic angles out of the structural, thematic, semantic and stylistic bases of the reader’s responses. Although there is abundant use of the components of ghazals like structured uses of the alphabets, sher, kafia, radif and takhallus, there does not seem uniformity in the use of sher and the alphabets. The use of takhallus also seems to have been used without following the basic tenets of the ghazal theory. Looking at the thematic aspect of ghazals, the subject matter of almost all ghazals is romantic or erotic (coincidentally) but the content of one ghazal seems to be less erotic but more Nepali cultural. Similarly, some ghazals in the collection are very vulgar both verbally and emotionally. However, from the point of view of subject matter, the ghazals have been presented in Musalsal.]

This article explores the role that contemporary religion and politics played in the subject matter of Mary Linwood's needlework paintings. Linwood was one of Britain's pioneering needlewomen of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Her approach to depicting famous narrative paintings in stitch has been largely overlooked by historians of art. The article is underpinned by use of primary source material, and draws on the most recent scholarship in the field of textile history, notably the work of Heidi Strobel and Rosika Desnoyers. Mary Linwood was an evangelical and a woman interested in the politics of the period. Her use of needlework was a means of both the expression of her piety and of the representation of her political views – especially attitudes to the brutality of the Napoleonic wars. The article also indicates that Linwood's views and medium were of remarkable interest to the wider public during the period.

Addressing what he sees as serious disjunctures in characterization and narrative technique, Joseph Frank has called Idiot “the most disorganized,” of Fedor Dostoevskii’s major works. The first part of the novel so differs from the last three parts, Frank holds, that it may “best be read as an independent novella.” Although, undoubtedly, many subtle structural, thematic, and rhetorical elements tie the novel together, Idiot does seem at times to generate as much centrifugal as centripetal force. Tackling this issue head on, Robin Feuer Miller, with judicious use of reader-response theory, succeeds in imposing some order on the narrational disjunctures of the text, setting up a hierarchy of narrators and narrative personae. More problematic, however, is the question of point of view in the larger sense. In the Bakhtinian sense, point of view manifests itself in the relation between the different narrators of the novel as the autonomous voices of the characters and the narrator enter into an unfinished dialogue. The broader use of the term concerns the novel’s worldviews, or master plots, which variously govern and structure the presentation of character, story, and metaphor.

This chapter provides a framework for the creation of contemporary feminist midrashim. It begins by providing a justification for the inclusion of women’s voices in classical forms of Jewish commentary, followed by a basic overview of the genre of midrash. The chapter then lays out a possible framework for the creation of feminist midrash, including a discussion of reader-response theory, middot, and feminist hermeneutics. Following on from the theoretical, a concrete example of a feminist midrash is given on the subject of Genesis 1:26. Some detailed linguistic analysis of this verse is explored in order to help explicate the questions being addressed by the midrash. An analysis of the midrash concludes the chapter.

The article summarizes the key points in the development of the metadialogue phenomenon from a linguistic point of view. Some stages of the development of this concept and the difficulties associated with its structuring are covered. The main research findings of modern foreign and domestic experts on its study are considered. Some characteristics of the subject of the research from the standpoint of various pragmatic installations are given. On the basis of the dynamic structure of the metadialogue development, certain principles of semantic relations connected with the dialectical nature of human cognition are presented. Excursion into the history and evolution of the concept is presented. Several types of formulation of the subject matter are given. In accordance with the goal of speech exposure, internal problems of the development of metadialogue are highlighted and the critical points related to solving these problems are described. The rules of metadialogue flow are explained at the level of steps, the success/failure of which directly affects the final result of communication. The prospects of development of the concept research in accordance with various types of discourse are indicated.

Authors in this contribution focus on issue of subject matter structure creation by the teacher as an important psycho-didactic domain of education process and how does a student perceive this structure. The aim of the teacher is not only to impart the knowledge to students but also to show them and teach them possible ways of how to understand the subject matter better and how to get to the fundamentals of it. Based on the structure of subject matter created by the teacher a student creates cognitive frames which become basis for his further learning. We pay attention to definition of epistemology of subject matter structure, questions of psycho-didactic approach to teaching, creating structure of subject matter and how does the teacher work with the text. Empirical part of the contribution investigates teachers' preferences of subject matter structure and statistically describes subjective perception of level of understanding of the subject matter by a student influenced by the particular subject matter structure realized by the teacher.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyse the 2016 elections for Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) and to compare them with those that took place in 2012. It seeks to evaluate the background of the candidates who stood for office in 2016, the policies that they put forward, the results of the contests and the implications of the 2016 experience for future PCC elections. Design/methodology/approach This paper is based around several key themes – the profile of candidates who stood for election, preparations conducted prior to the contests taking place, the election campaign and issues raised during the contests, the results and the profile of elected candidates. The paper is based upon documentary research, making particular use of primary source material. Findings The research establishes that affiliation to a political party became the main route for successful candidates in 2016 and that local issues related to low-level criminality will dominate the future policing agenda. It establishes that although turnout was higher than in 2012, it remains low and that further consideration needs to be devoted to initiatives to address this for future PCC election contests. Research limitations/implications The research focusses on the 2016 elections and identifies a number of key issues that emerged during the campaign affecting the conduct of the contests which have a bearing on future PCC elections. It treats these elections as a bespoke topic and does not seek to place them within the broader context of the development of the office of PCC. Practical implications The research suggests that in order to boost voter participation in future PCC election contests, PCCs need to consider further means to advertise the importance of the role they perform and that the government should play a larger financial role in funding publicity for these elections and consider changing the method of election. Social implications The rationale for introducing PCCs was to empower the public in each police force area. However, issues that include the enhanced importance of political affiliation as a criteria for election in 2016 and the social unrepresentative nature of those who stood for election and those who secured election to this office in these contests coupled with shortcomings related to public awareness of both the role of PCCs and the timing of election contests threaten to undermine this objective. Originality/value The extensive use of primary source material ensures that the subject matter is original and its interpretation is informed by an academic perspective.

This book was written, according to the foreword, primarily for students and general practitioners. It is designed as a quick reference to aid in discussions with parents and to facilitate an understanding of the anatomic anomalies discussed, of the resulting functional disturbances and their treatment. The authors are plastic surgeons and the subject matter is chosen essentially from their point of view. They deal with a variety of congenital anomalies but also with disorders resulting from postnatal injuries. Such etiologically heterogeneous subjects as deformities of the skull and brain, facial clefts, hemangiomas, fractures and dislocations of the facial bones and dental caries are discussed.

This paper aims to explore the female readers reading experiences, views and feelings of Hausa romance novels found in most of the northern part of Nigeria. This article also examines some criticism and accusations against the readership and content of the Hausa romance genre. The study applied the Transactional Reader-Response Theory of Rosenblatt’s (1978) as guide by selecting 7 female readers within the age ranges between 22-26 years from 2 book clubs to participate in the study. The findings revealed that all the readers individually were able to reveal their varied responses, beliefs, and experiences on the value of the romance novels which challenged the assertion made by the literary critics and traditional society that the books have no relevance in their life activities which supported their arguments and personal interpretive reading stance towards the Hausa romance genre. The finding yielded four themes were emerging: (a) promoting literacy development; (b) resistance to the traditional marriage system in society; (d) enlightening females on social inequality. These findings provided empirical support for the application of the Transactional Reader-Response Theory of Rosenblatt (1978) outside classroom contexts to understand the role of African romance novels towards female social transformation.
