The background of the study was based on the phenomenon at the seventh graders of the SMP BOPRI Godean. Learning English especially writing skill were still low in mastering vocabulary, sentence structure, and paragraph organizing. The research aimed (1) to analyze the students’ writing by using scaffolding technique; (2) to describe the improvement of the students’ writing skill by using scaffolding technique; and (3) to find out the students’ interests in writing skill by using scaffolding technique. To solve the problem, the researcher conducted Classroom Action Research and applied scaffolding technique in teaching English to improve student’s ability in writing skill. The participants of this research were the 14 students of the seventh graders of SMP BOPKRI Godean. In this study, the researcher conducted a scaffolding technique of teaching writing descriptive text in three cycles by using scaffolding model adapted from Silvia Read. The five steps in scaffolding technique by Silvia Read were inquiry, modeling, shared, collaborative, and independent. The researcherexpected that the students could improve their writing skill by using the scaffolding technique and interested in English writing skill. The result of this study was showed by pre-test and post-test. In pre-test, the students’ average score was 49, whereas in the students’ post-test cycle one, the students’ average score was 64. In the second cycle, the students’ average score was 75.9. Finally, the researcher could conclude that the result of this research showed an improvement of the students’ writing skills by using scaffolding technique.

Writing is a form of an art and integral part of language learning. The present study concerns with development of writing skills through peer and teacher correction technique. As an action research in nature, the research aimed to test the progress of the students while writing an essay. After the analysis of data collected through test items, it was seen improvement in students writing in post test than in pre-test. The students (Ss1-Ss10) were found using the words in an increased order and grammatically correct sentences in their writing in each test made and committed less grammatical errors in post test than in pre and progress test. Regarding mechanics of writing, their writing was found systematic in case of punctuation, proper use of paragraphs, in coherence and cohesion in writing. The peer correction and teacher correction technique was found productive in teaching writing through action research as a whole. There are four main skills in learning English, writing, listening, reading, and speaking. In this research, the researcher focused on writing narrative text for tenth grader students of SMK PGRI 13 Surabaya. The medium that is used in this research is webtoon. It is kind of comic series which has picture and narration so it can be make the students learn how to write narrative text easier. The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of webtoon in developing students’ writing skill in narrative text. The researcher used quantitative method and the data were collected through pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. The researcher used two classes, experimental class and control class to do this research. After the data were collected and calculated, the result showed that the average of score got an increasing. Before getting treatment, the average score of experimental class was 55 and after getting treatment, the average score was becoming 69. Furthermore, based on the students’ response, it showed that mostly the students agreed that webtoon is useful to use in learning English, especially writing skill so webtoon can be effective to develop students’ writing skill in narrative text.

This study focused on observing, identifying potential problems, modifying teaching practices, evaluating the results, reflecting and analyzing the teaching writing skills through telecollaboration. The participants of the research were the students of MA Al Jauharotun Naqiyyah Cibeber grade XII with the total number of 15 students. The students were selected based on the pre-observation writing result which was conducted at the beginning of new term. The selected participants were being taught writing through telecollaboration then observed their progress in learning English writing. The results of the study found that the use of ICT and digital media such as Facebook and WhatsApp application help students in making learning outside school hours. It also motivated students to use English.

Introverted student is a type of student who has a personality related to the world in his own mind. Based on some researches results, they showed that the type of introverted students is getting lower in achievement compared to the extroverted type. For this reason, the researchers tried to apply the techniques in order to improve the introverted students’ achievement in learning English. The researchers focused on the writing skill. So, the writing techniques, namely Mind Mapping and Flow Charting are used in this research to improve their writing skill. This study was aimed to know the effectiveness of using Mind Mapping in teaching English writing skill of introverted Students, to know the effectiveness of using Flow Charting in teaching English writing skill of introverted Students, and to determine the better technique between Mind Mapping and Flow Charting in teaching English Writing Skill of Introverted Students.  The research technique used was descriptive comparative with a quantitative approach. The results of this study indicated that both techniques are equally effective. The results of the average writing test for the use of Mind Mapping techniques is 56.5, while for the use of Flow Charting techniques is 49.6. From the results of the average score, it can be concluded that flow charting techniques are more effectively used to improve the students writing skills with introverted types.

This study is classrom action research. It is carried out at SMP N 2 Metro in Academic Year of 2017/2018. The objectives of the research: (1) to find out whether guided question technique can increase the students’ writing skill in descriptive text; (2) to describe the process of teaching writing using guided question technique. The population of the research is the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Metro in academic year 2017/2018 that consist of 32 students. The research is conducted in two cycles. The procedure of the research consists of identifying the problem, planning the action, implementing the action, observing the action, and reflecting the result of the research. Qualitative data are collected through interview, observation. In the meantime, quantitative data are collected through test. To analyze qualitative data, the researchers use miles and huberman model. It consists of three steps: data reduction, data display and data conclusion. Meanwhile, to analyze quantitative data, the researchers employ descriptive statistic.    The result of the research indicates that the implementation of guided question technique improved the students’ writing skill in descriptive text. The average score of pre-test is 56. In the cycle 1, the researchers giving the treatment and get the students’ average score of post-test 1 is 69,23. After applying the revised planning in cycle 2, the average students’ score in post-test 2 is 76. It has reached 75% of 32 students that indicated the students passed the criterion of success. The result of students’ participation in cycle 1 and cycle 2 did a significant progress and improves in every meeting of each cycle. In addition, the use of guided questions technique is able to increase the students’ writing skill in descriptive text. The research has some suggestions; for the English teacher, it is useful to implement guided questions technique as one alternatives teaching, for the students it can be used to make the students easier in writing a text and for the further researcher this study can be used as a reference.

<p><em>The aim of this research is to determine the improvement of students ‘learning outcomes in writing skill of indonesian by using flash cards media. The research conducted was a Classroom Action Research (PTK) with three cycles consisting of two meetings. Each meeting is carried out a pre test and post test. The subjects of this study were grade I SD Negeri Banjaranyar 01 which consisted of 24 students. KKM standard 65 out of 24 students only 11 students or 45.8% who reached a value of 65 and above while 13 students or 54.2% got a score below KKM. The results showed that the improvement of students”learning outcomes in writing skills of  Indonesian. In the pre-cycle obtained an average score of the 45.8%. Then increased in first cycle with a score of 58.3%, increased back in the second cycle 87.5%. These results indicated that using flash cards can improved the sudents”learning outcomes in writing skills of Indonesian especially grade I at SD Negeri Banjaranyar 01 Brebes.</em></p>

The objective of the study were (1) To know the process of teaching writing skill in narrative text at tenth grade of SMK PGRI 3 Kota Serang (2) To find out the result of students writing skill in narrative text by using dispersion imagination at tenth grade of SMK PGRI 3 Kota Serang. This research is used a mixed method research design, classroom action research. The result of the research were (1) the process of teaching narrative text using dispersion imagination in writing skills of two steps; pre-cycle and cycle. The result of research showed that the research in cycle 1, the writer used the move picture, the students to listen and look at the move picture in slide at the Power Point about the material. The students write narrative text from the story by using dispersion imagination. In cycle 2, the use of film is able to improve students writing skill in narrative text and develop idea to write well. While the role of teachers who are not just as facilitators, but also as a motivator and inspirator are also able to provide new supported in the learning process. There is improvement in writing skill of the students after the treatment. It can be seen from their main score of pre-test and post-test. (2) There was improvement in the pre-test main score (41.00), the first post-test mean score (45.00), and the second post-test main score (76.00). The achievement of writing in post-test is 76,00%. In conclusion, there was significant improvement of the students in writing skill in narrative text by using dispersion imagination.

This study examines the activities of teaching-learning writing discussion texts when product and process-based approach combination is implemented in EFL writing classroom, the effects of applying the writing approach on EFL students’ writing skill, and the students’ attitude toward the implementation of writing approach in the classroom. It uses a mixed-methods through applying an embedded design by involving 24 second-grade students of a private university in West Java, Indonesia. There were four instruments used, namely field notes, videotapes, students’ tests (pre-test and post-test), and questionnaires. The findings show that the students were actively involved in class when the teacher applied the writing approach in writing classroom. There was also the improvement in the students’ writing skill based on the result taken from the students’ tests since the level of significance (two-tailed) in paired t-test is less than the alpha (0.000<0.05). Qualitatively, the improvements were also found in generic features, textual language, and syntactical language aspects. In addition, the students showed highly positive attitude (4.35 average score) toward the implementation of the approach in the classroom.Keywords: writing, writing skill, discussion texts, product and process-based approach combination

21st Century Learning is a student-centered learning process that has been introduced in Malaysia since 2014. This study aims to integrate the 4C elements, which are collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking in the interventions to improve English writing skill among 3K class students. Also, the study was conducted to determine how peer guidance can help 3K class students, who were weak in writing, to improve their English writing skills. The action research was carried out based on Kurt Lewin's Model. The research instruments involved were pre-test, post-test, and semi-structured interview. A total of 32 students sat for both pre-test and post-test before and after the interventions. A semi-structured interview consisting of five questions was conducted after the student completed the post-test. Descriptive statistics involving mean and percentage scores were used to analyze pre-test and post-test findings, while the interview findings were summarized. The results showed that there was an improvement in their English writing skills, where the mean score for the pre-test was 19.34, while the mean score for post-test was 22.66. The findings indicate that weaker students agreed that guidance of students who possess better writing skills helped them improve their English writing skills. The results of the pre-test and post-test showed that the intervention conducted has successfully helped 3K class students to improve their English writing skills.

<p><em>The objectives of this thesis are to describe whether picture improves students’ writing skill and to describe the classroom situation when picture is used in writing class. The method of the research was classroom action research.   The action research was conducted from January to April 2013 and was carried out in two cycles in 32 students of VIII A in SMPN 1 Jaten. The researcher collected the data using observation and questionnaire. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed the data using qualitative and quantitative</em><em> technique. </em><em> </em><em>The research findings show that the using of picture could improve the students’ writing. It can be seen from the mean scores improvement of pre test, post test cycle 1 ,and post test cycle 2, were 51.62 for the pre-test, 68.00 for the post-test in cycle 1 and 78.31 for the post-test in cycle 2. The using of picture in teaching writing also could improve classroom situation in writing class.</em></p>
