The author determines the development of the grape and wine production branches as a very cogent common task. Because of its importance this sector enables the livelihood of 100-150 thousand families and also of $ 80-100 million export income. A state subsidy is indispensable to the realization of that project. In the author's opinion on round 100 000 ha plantation area yearly 4-4.5 million hl wine can be produced, therefrom the export may amount to 1-1.3 million hl. Yearly 3000 ha vineyards should be planted in order to maintain the present production capacity.

In the classical vendor-buyer inventory models, the common unrealistic assumption is that all the items manufactured are in good quality. However, in reality, it can be observed that there may be some defective items produced and then delivered to the buyer. Thus, the existence of defective items would consequently give significant influence to system behavior. In addition, a manufacturing flexibility such as the capability to adjust production capacity becomes a key success factor for increasing system flexibility as well as reducing total cost. Here, we investigate how a quality improvement program and adjustable production rate can help the supply chain to reduce the total cost. This paper studies the effect of quality improvement and controllable production rate in joint economic lot size model consisting of single-vendor and single-buyer under stochastic demand. The model gives allowance to the vendor to adjust production rate and also to invest an amount of capital investment to reduce the defect rate. The lead time is comprised of production time and setup and transportation time. The model also considers a situation in which the shortages in buyer side are assumed to be partially backordered. To solve the model, an iterative algorithm is proposed to determine simultaneously safety factor, delivery lot size, delivery frequency, production rate and process quality for minimizing total cost is proposed. The result from this study shows that allowing the vendor to both adjust the production rate and reduce the defective product by adopting quality improvement policy can reduce the individual and total cost. In the example given, the proposed model gives significant total cost saving of 45.9% compared to the model without controllable production rate and quality improvement.

The paper reviews the issues of work standardization contributing its general strains and meaningfulness providing favorable labor conditions and fair compensation. In this regard, the results of foreign analysis, the studies on labor standard values in the enterprise activities of such countries as Germany and Russia are presented and social feasibility and operational efficiency of labor standards shown as well. Sustained, purpose-oriented efforts of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in labor standardization and quality improvement are reviewed. It is marked that as a result of the standardization, structural optimization of the enterprises is carried out, technical-economic parameters improved and production capacity increased as well. Furthermore, labor standards become a means of stimulation and motivation in labor activity and consequently, form personal satisfaction in labor and thus, its quality to a great extent.

This paper examines the positive aspects of aging. Some items, such as valuable and rare stamps, old coins, works of art, and antiques, become more expensive over time. More popular examples demonstrating the positive effect of aging that influences price are the aging of boutique wine and artisan cheese. The present paper examines the wine aging process that brings about quality improvement. This process also leads to determining (i) optimal aging periods for different wines; (ii) optimal grape juice inventory allocations and prices for different wines; (iii) optimal quantities of different kinds of wine; and (iv) the time durations of wine production and consumption from each vintage. These aspects are considered in an environment in which the demand increases over time due to the aging and rarity of the product.

<p class="Default"><em>Due to the fact that post-harvest handling of local fruits especially in Calina papaya supply chain (IPB 9) has experience problems that can affect the value of its quality appearance, quality improvement is absolutely required. The purposes of this research are 1) Identifying the key attributes of Calina papaya quality improvement based on desires of consumers and to know the level of customer satisfaction using Quality Function Deployment (QFD); 2) Analyzing the causes of Calina papaya quality problems, and 3) Analyzing strategies or ways to improve the quality of Calina papaya in Indonesia. The results of this research show that there are three main attributes of customer satisfaction; namely, the sweet taste, color of fruit meat, and texture of fruit meat. Supply chain activities that have the highest interests of rate based on analysis of QFD are the maintenance (value 521) of cultivation. There are two attributes that have mismatches of quality; bruise and pests-diseases, caused by the raw materials, management, labor, environment, machine and method. </em><em>The highest priority that can be chosen as the alternative strategy is increasing production capacity, product quality, and food safety assurance by expanding the distribution network.</em><em> </em></p><em>Keywords : Calina papaya, quality function deployment, strategy, quality</em>

During the 1962 excavations at Aphrodisias, a number of marble storage jars and a marble basin were discovered which were tentatively associated with wine production. The area was further excavated in 1970 when more pieces were uncovered in situ and then placed west of their original positions where they now remain (fig 1) (Erim 1970: 60, figs 44, 45).These remains have since been identified as equipment used in the production of olive oil. This article provides a record of the individual items excavated, a discussion of their original findspots, and a hypothetical reconstruction of the operation of the press, followed by a discussion of the production capacity and date of such a processing plant.

In 2011 during a study tour of Sobata (Shivta), a debate took place concerning the likelihood that the central Negev settlements of Elusa, Sobata, Oboda, Ruheiba and Nessana (fig. 1) were significant partners in the trade of prestige Gaza wines during the 5th and 6th c. A.D. I challenged the participants as to whether these sites’ production facilities were of sufficient magnitude to produce a wine surplus for shipping across the Roman world and whether the transport of a bulk product in relatively heavy amphoras to the seaports at Gaza and Ashqelon c.100-120 km distant was both physically feasible and economically viable in the absence of paved roads. This paper will analyse a series of factors, including demography, agricultural technology, wine production capacity and transport possibilities to evaluate the region’s potential and the likelihood of these settlements playing a part in the wine trade of Gaza and Ashqelon.

AbstractThe presented work deals with the spread of viticulture and fruit farming in the Middle Ages in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region in Georgia. The current state of the farming sectors mentioned and those pivotal moments in Georgian history that had an influence on agriculture are also considered in the article. The changes that determined the viticulture geography from the second part of the 16th century up to the present day are also discussed. The study is mainly based on the census document created in 1574. The article represents the geographic distribution patterns of vineyards and orchards, as well as wine production capacity and the fruit harvest. Retrospective mapping made it possible to restore the distribution of farms and gardens of the mentioned period and to analyse the importance of viticulture and fruit farming in the 16th century. The maps represented show spatial patterns of vineyards, gardens, and main terroirs.
