Ie Suum geothermal manifestation area is a hot sering resource in Ie Suum Village at Aceh Besar regency. Ie Suum hot spring is a stretch of Seulawah Agam mountain and is one of the most active volcanic mountains in Aceh. This area has higher temperature and soil pH compared to areas far from geothermal areas. Therefore, this study can be associated with the unique characteristics of vegetation of geothermal areas will be different from vegetation plants that exist in other vegetation types. This research was conducted by quadrat transect method by determining the location of the research by purposive sampling divided into four point (station) with size determined based on plant habitus that is: herb (1x1 m2), bush / shrub (2x2 m2), pole ( 5x5 m2), and trees (10x10 m2). Data analysis is done qualitatively and quantitatively. Quantitative analysis of data by using vegetation analysis are: density (Kr), Frequency (Fr), Dominance (Dr), and Diversity Index (Ĥ). The results of the study found 23 families consisting of 34 species with a total number of individuals as many as 534 scattered in 4 observation stations divided into herbaceous plants, shrubs, poles and trees. Important Value Index (INP) vegetation in geothermal manifestation area of Ie Suum in all stations was obtained by INP 225,86%. This value belongs to the high category. The species species that have the highest index of other species Axonopus compressus is 17.02%, while the lowest Importance Value Index is Clidemia hirta with a value of 1.32%. The high value of INP Axonopus compressus is due to this species living on dry soil moisture and high acidity. The biodiversity index (Ĥ) of geothermal area of Ies Suum of Mesjid Raya District of Aceh Besar is Ĥ = 3,508. Vegetation of plants in the geothermal area ie suum belong to the high category due to plants that can adapt to high environmental physical-chemical conditions.

On the port pole is very much found biota attached. The biota is barnacles (Balanus sp). The attachment does not only occur in natural substrates. It may also occur in different means of human interest, such as ships and docks. This research is devoted to macroscopic biofouling, whose attachment is massif on the dock pole. This study aims to determine the species and ecological index of biota fouling in different media in the Daruba Morotai Island Regency. The data retrieval method uses a quadratic with a scale of 20×100 cm2. This study used three media, namely wood media (speedboat wooden pier), iron media (speedboat floating pier), and concrete media (Imam Lastori's main pier). Ecological indices analyzed include abundance, Diversity Index, Uniformity Index, and Dominance Index. The analysis results found the most number of macrobiofouling species in the wood medium (7 species). The largest number of individuals found is Branchidontes sp. (661 individuals). The findings of the study of the maximum macrofouling abundance are found in concrete media with a value of 491. Diversity in all media is classified as medium with a value of H' on wood media 1.22, iron media 1.04, and concrete media 1.34. The uniformity index (E) of all three media indicates the uniformity of broad populations with the maximum E found in concrete media 0.84. The study of dominance in wood media by 0.41, iron media 0.48, and concrete media 0.32 showed that dominance is poor.

Abstract. Isroni W, Samara SH, Santanumurti MB. 2019. Short Communication: Application of artificial reefs for fisheries enhancement in Probolinggo, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 20: 2273-2278. Overfishing is one of the biggest challenges in the fisheries sector in Probolinggo, Indonesia. The fish apartment (artificial reefs) was one of the solutions to increase the fish resource since it serves as the habitat for fish to live, spawn, and search for food. In this study, the fish apartment was installed in Probolinggo (Karang Katon and Dringu Beach) from 2017 to 2018. This study showed that five fish species (Caesio cuning, Acanthurus achilles, Acanthurus albipectoralis, Sphyraena jello, and Apagon novemfasciatus) were found in Karang Katon while four species (Chaetodon octofasciatus, Chromobotia macracanthus, Nemipterus japonicas, and Lates calcarifer) lived in Dringu Beach. From a total of 333 fishes, A. achilles was the species with the highest composition level of 51.65% (172) in Karang Katon station. In Dringu Beach station, C. octofasciatus had the highest fish species composition level of 46% (183) from a total of 402 fishes. The diversity index and dominance index in Karang Katon station were low at-1.280 and 0.343, respectively. The diversity index and dominance index in Dringu Beach station were also low at -1.115 and 0.3503. A. achilles had the highest density of 34.4 ind/m3 in Karang Katon station while C. octofasciatus had the highest species density of 36.6 ind/m3 in Dringu Beach Station. From this study, it could be concluded that artificial reefs application enhanced the fisheries in Probolinggo, Indonesia, and help its sustainability.

Lake Buaya is one of the lakes located in the central part of South Sulawesi. Information about ichthyofauna biodiversity in this lake does not yet exist. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze species composition, relative abundance, diversity index, evenness index, and dominance index, fish caught in the waters of Lake Buaya. This research was conducted in March to May 2019. Sampling was carried out four times over two months using a fishing gear with a mesh size of 2 inches. Sample analysis was carried out at the Fisheries Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University. During the study 328 fish were found that belong to 12 species and 9 families. The highest abundance of individuals and relative fish abundance was found in Trichopodus pectoralis (snakeskin gourami). The range of diversity index, evenness index, and dominance index were 2,11–2,35, 0,85–0,95, and 0,10–0,15, respectively.

Butterflies are one type of insect found in the green open space of Pontianak City. Butterflies can be used as bioindicators of environmental changes because butterflies are very sensitive to biotic and abiotic factors (Rizal, 2007). This study aims to obtain data and analyze the diversity of butterfly species in the green open space of Pontianak City. The study used a field observation method with sweeping net techniques and explored areas in three habitats namely Sylva Untan Arboretum, Untan S1 Forestry Campus and West Kalimantan Governor's Hall Pavilion. The three green open spaces were chosen based on the density and diversity of the vegetation. The results of the study found 22 types of butterflies. The same six types are found in three different types of open green space, namely Leptosia nina, Agamemnon Graphium, Papilio polytes, Hipolimnas bolina, Eurema hecabe, and Appias lybithea. The species diversity index at the Arboretum has a value of 2.74, Campus S1 Forestry Untan with a value of 2.19 and Pendopo Park with a value of 2.02. This value indicates that species diversity in green open space is classified as medium. Keywords: butterfly diversity, green open space, bioindicator
