The aimed of this study at investigating how the use of video clips could improve students’ speaking skills of the class VIII D students of SMP NEGERI 1 Madang Suku III OKU TIMUR. This research was categorized into action research and implemented 2 cycles based on the class schedule. The researcher collaborated with the English teacher in this research. The sample of the study was 26 students of class VIII.D. The qualitative data are obtained through observation, interview, and documentation related to the teaching and learning process of speaking in the classroom including the techniques used by the teacher, the learning media and the classroom speaking activities. The findings showed that the use of video clip as the teaching media combined with the use of speaking activities and classroom English was proven to be effective to improve the students’ speaking skills. It means that students’ attention and increased their learning motivation. Through native speakers’ talks, the students got appropriate models and could have better understanding how to use English in real situation so it opened their opportunity to practice speaking. The students who just gained 6.35 in the pre-test were able to increase their score up to 13.65 in the post-test. It indicated that they made a considerable improvement in some aspects of speaking skills such as fluency, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. This study aims to improve the speaking skill of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa in the use of audio visual aids. This research was conducted through action research consisting of two cycles. The data were obtained from observation during the implementation of the action; interview with Teacher of English and the eighth grade students from class VIII A; and discussion with Teacher of English. Data in the form of field notes, interview transcripts, and photographs. The validity of the data is obtained by applying utilization Audio Visual Aids, results and processes. The results show that there was an increase in students' speaking skills through the use of audio visual aids. The audio-visual tool used in this study was video and slide. Videos were taken from youtube.com in the form of dialogue in certain expressions. These videos can attract students' attention and increase their learning motivation. Students can have a better understanding of the use of English in real situations when they learn appropriate Englishlanguage models through audio-visual aids (video and slide). Students make improvements in several aspects of speaking skills, such as fluency and comprehensibility. They are more confident in speaking English. They actively participate during the teaching and learning process. In addition, they did not hesitate to ask the teacher when they found difficulties. The research findings are also supported by the results of students' speaking achievement which increased from 57.78 in cycle I to 72.67 in cycle II.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the use of google meet can improve the speaking ability of students of iain Intensive English 1 program Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. This particular research is categorized as action research. These actions are performed in three cycles based on the class schedule. The study involved 35 students. This research data is qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data is obtained by observing the teaching and learning process in speaking classes. Meanwhile, quantitative data is obtained through tests, and questionnaires. The findings suggest that the use of Google Meet terbukti meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa. Therefore google meet is very suitable to be used as online or virtual learning especially in improving students' speaking skills that focus on aspects and components of student speaking skills, but there are some drawbacks that can make learning less effective and less efficient when used as a particular application in the learning and teaching process. Therefore, all educators who use application media such as google meet are able to master and professional in using the application. Hopefully this pandemic ends quickly and we can adjust how the future of education around the world goes forward.  For the next researcher, can be focused on the influence of the implementation of google meet application in speaking subjects to the interest of students to improve speaking. Based on this study, researchers found students' enthusiasm is very high in learning to speak, this proves that the google meet application can improve aspects and components of student speaking because it is influenced by increased student motivation during the use of google meet application compared to other applications.

The aims of the study are to know whether communicative games have an impact on teaching speaking skill and describe how communicative games give an influence on speaking skills of students at junior high schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was implemented based on Kurt. L model. The procedures used were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. It was done into two cycles in each cycle consisted of three meetings. The researcher used collaborative action research with some of the English teachers. In collecting the data, the instruments were interview, observation, questionnaire and test. The test only given to students. The rest of the instruments administered for both teachers and students. The result of the study showed the mean score’s pretest reached of 60.42 to 69.02 and post test’s score reached up to 78.77. It is important to describe that there is a significant improvement of 13.9% to 41.7% in post test 1 and 83.33% in post test 2. Therefore, the criteria of success had been determined. It is crucial to note that communicative games have contributed a positive impact on teaching learning process. This also implies the communicative games expected to enhance students’ enthusiasm and motivation. Clearly, It gives positive improvement on students’ active participation, confidence and their fluency in speaking skill. In short it can be described that the strategy of teaching and learning creates good, enjoyable circumstances and reduces the boredom and stress of learning process.

This research is aim at improving to the reading comprehension of eight grade students at SMPN 2 Kedunggalar through Request (Reciprocal Question). In conducting this study, the researcher applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the strategy of the research. It was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted four phases : planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subjects of the study were 31 students of class VIII B of SMPN 2 Kedunggalar. There were two forms of data in this study. The qualitative data were obtained by doing observing. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were obtained from the students‟ reading comprehension score of the pre-test and post-test and they were analyzed by using descriptive. The students have to reach four indicators they are understanding of content, generic structure, languages feature and purpose recount text. Applied request strategy can improved the students reading skill. The enrichment supported them comprehending the texts. The improvement was supported by the compare of the students‟ mean score from the pre-test, post test 1 and post-test 2 with percentage students passed KKM, 33 percentage 0%,41 percentage 9,7% and 77 96,8%. Their involvement in the reading class also improved. In addition, the students became more active and they enjoyed the process of teaching and learning reading.

This study tried to analyse the effectiveness of using TED talks video in improving students public speaking skill and also the students’ perception about using TED talks video in improving students’ public speaking skills. Participant of this study were thirty four students. A mixed method was used to collect quantitative and qualitative data. To achieve the aims of this study,      pre-test and post-test were administered as the quantitative data collection, and close-ended questionnaires as the qualitative data collection. From the data taken, the result showed that the students’ perception about using TED talks video in improving students’ public speaking skills is that the students response positively towards how the writer taught them. In addition, the data showed that the writer used a variety of instructional methods to reach the teaching objectively and the strategies were tried to find based on the students need in many ways. Therefore, it was concluded that the use of TED Talks is very useful to improve students’ public speaking skill.  Key words: Effectiveness, Ted Talks Video, Public Speaking Skills

Abstract: This study aims to find out the level of students' ability to comment on storybook by determining the intrinsic elements. The level of students' ability to comment on storybook researched based on the effect of speaking skill. The method used in this study is the experimental method with quantitative approach. The data obtained by using the description test through recorder and oral test. Based on the story that has been read by the teacher, 38 eighth grade students who are chosen as the respondents are asked to retell the story in front of the class. The assessment given to the respondents include clarity, speech fluency, pronunciation fluency, intonation, word choice accuracy, body flexibility, subject mastery, and completeness. The results of this study indicate that in the post-test, the speaking skill of students reach an average value of 65.58, or categorized fair. Meanwhile, in the post-test, the students reach an average value of 80.21, or categorized good. Therefore, it can be concluded from the results that there speaking skill has an effect on students’ ability to comment on storybook in class VIII of Private Middle School in Medan. Abstract: This research is aimed to improve the reading comprehension through schema activation strategy. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of four phases. They were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of the study were 34 students of Class VIII A of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Godean. There were two forms of data in this study. The qualitative data were collected through observation and interview. The data were presented in the form of field notes and interview transcripts. Then, the quantitative data were collected through Pre-test, Posttest I, and Posttest II. In reference to the application of the two cycles, the results of the research revealed that use of schema activation strategy successfully improved the students‘ reading comprehension. The students‘ interest and attention in the process of teaching and learning English, especially reading improved. They were also able to explore many words related to the topic of the lesson. In relation to their comprehension of English texts, the students were able to identify main ideas and supporting details of paragraphs correctly. Strategi skema pada materi reading comprehension untuk meningkatkan ketertarikan siswaPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman reading comprehension melalui penggunaan Schema Activation Strategy. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, Peneliti menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) sebagai metode penelitian. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus dan masing-masing siklus terdiri dari empat fase. Yaitu fase persiapan, aksi, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 34 siswa dari kelas VIII A SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Godean. Ada dua macam data yang dihimpun pada penelitian ini. Data kualitatif dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara. Kemudian data dipresentasikan dalam bentuk catatan dan transkip wawancara. Sedangkan, data kuantitatif dikumpulkan melalui Pre-Test, Post-test I, dan Post-test II. Hasil yang didapatkan setelah menerapkan dua siklus, yaitu penggunaan Schema Activation Strategy berjalan sukses meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada bab Reading. Minat siswa dan perhatian dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya peningkatan dalam pemahaman Reading. Para siswa mampu mengeksplorasi banyak kata terkait topik pelajaran. Para siswa juga  mampu memahami teks Bahasa Inggris, siswa juga mampu untuk mengindentifikasi ide pokok dan juga detail paragaraf  secara benar.

This study was aimed to improve the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique. The subject of the study was the eight grade students of Public Junior High School 22 Medan in academic year 2018/2019. This study was conducted by applying Classrom Action Research (CAR), which had been conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments of collecting data were quantitative data (speaking test) and qualitative data (observation checklist and field notes). The result of the test shows that the mean score of pre test is 40, formative test is 46.34, and post test is 62.89. The percentage of the students’ means score improve from pre test to post test 57.2%. The result of observation checklist and field notes showed that the students were interested in teaching and learning English especially speaking skill by using storytelling technique. These indicated that there was a significant improvement of the students’ speaking achievement by using storytelling technique.

This article is aimed at reporting the research findings of using TGT (Teams-Game-Tournament) to improve the students’ speaking skill. The subject of this research is the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Kartasura in the academic year of 2013/2014 which consisted of 32 students. The research method used is action research. Each cycle consists of four essential moments: planning, implementing the action, observing, and reflecting. The data are collected through observation, interview, field notes, questionnaire, and tests (pre-test ad post-test). The qualitative data were analyzed by reducing the data, displaying the data, and drawing conclusion/verifying. While the quantitative data were analyzed through descriptive statistics by calculating and then comparing the mean scores of pre-test and post-test. The research findings prove that using TGT can improve the students’ speaking skill. The students’ mean score increases from pre-test of 4.4 to post-test 1 of 5.9, and post-test 2 of 6.8.<strong> </strong>Using TGT can improve the effectiveness of speaking activity in teaching and learning process as well. The students got more opportunities to practice speaking because the speaking activities were not dominated by the talkative students only.

This study aims to determine the effect of time token strategy to improve students' speaking skills. This research method is a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent design. The study population was the students of SMP Al-Ijtihad 2 Kutabaru. There are four classes consisting of class VIII A, VIII B, VIII C, and VIII D. Consisting of 33 VIII A students, 32 VIII B students, 33 VIII C students, and 33 VIII students. The total population is 131 students. The researcher took several students to be the research sample. Purposive Sampling was chosen as the sampling technique in this study. Consisting of 65 students, class VIII B as the experiment class and VIII C as the control class. The two classes were given different treatment. The experimental class was taught using Time Token Strategy while the control class was taught using conventional methods. The study was started by giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test to both classes. The data from the test were analyzed using the t-test formula at a significant level of 5% (0.05). The results of the pre-test analysis using the t-test formula obtained data that shows tcount 1.934461139 is smaller than ttable 2.00, which means that H0 is accepted. Meanwhile, the post-test results show that tcount 2.64672013 is betterr than ttable 2.00, which means H1 is accepted. Based on the research conducted, it proves that there are significant differences in the results of learning speaking using the Time Token Strategy at SMP Al-Ijtihad 2 Kutabaru, and the Time Token Strategy can make students more active in the learning process.Keywords: Strategy Time Token, Speaking Skill.
