Abstract: This study aims to find out the level of students' ability to comment on storybook by determining the intrinsic elements. The level of students' ability to comment on storybook researched based on the effect of speaking skill. The method used in this study is the experimental method with quantitative approach. The data obtained by using the description test through recorder and oral test. Based on the story that has been read by the teacher, 38 eighth grade students who are chosen as the respondents are asked to retell the story in front of the class. The assessment given to the respondents include clarity, speech fluency, pronunciation fluency, intonation, word choice accuracy, body flexibility, subject mastery, and completeness. The results of this study indicate that in the post-test, the speaking skill of students reach an average value of 65.58, or categorized fair. Meanwhile, in the post-test, the students reach an average value of 80.21, or categorized good. Therefore, it can be concluded from the results that there speaking skill has an effect on students’ ability to comment on storybook in class VIII of Private Middle School in Medan. This study aims to improve the speaking skill of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa in the use of audio visual aids. This research was conducted through action research consisting of two cycles. The data were obtained from observation during the implementation of the action; interview with Teacher of English and the eighth grade students from class VIII A; and discussion with Teacher of English. Data in the form of field notes, interview transcripts, and photographs. The validity of the data is obtained by applying utilization Audio Visual Aids, results and processes. The results show that there was an increase in students' speaking skills through the use of audio visual aids. The audio-visual tool used in this study was video and slide. Videos were taken from youtube.com in the form of dialogue in certain expressions. These videos can attract students' attention and increase their learning motivation. Students can have a better understanding of the use of English in real situations when they learn appropriate Englishlanguage models through audio-visual aids (video and slide). Students make improvements in several aspects of speaking skills, such as fluency and comprehensibility. They are more confident in speaking English. They actively participate during the teaching and learning process. In addition, they did not hesitate to ask the teacher when they found difficulties. The research findings are also supported by the results of students' speaking achievement which increased from 57.78 in cycle I to 72.67 in cycle II.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Team Quiz learning model on student learning outcomes. In this study, the research design used a quantitative approach. The population of this study was all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Nganjuk in the 2019/2020 academic year. The subjects used were mathematics with the Pythagorean Theorem material for class VIII students at SMPN 3 Nganjuk in the 2019/2020 academic year. While the samples used were students in class VIII-E and VIII-H. Data collection techniques using tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed that the experimental class using the Team Quiz model obtained better results than the control class using the conventional method. From the data analysis of the post-test results of the experimental class, the average value = 76.23 of 35 students. While the data of the post-test results for the control class obtained an average value of 58.97 from 35 students. The achievement of student learning outcomes using conventional learning methods is Good Enough. Team Quiz is a learning model that emphasizes teamwork in groups. So that it can make students more motivated and active in learning.

ABSTRACT The purpose of the study is to describe the skill of reading Fable Story Texts on Writing Skills for Fable Story Texts of Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 35 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design used in this study is design contribution. The population of this study was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 35 Padang who were enrolled in the 2019/2020 school year, namely as many as 134 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 25% of the population, namely 35 students. The data of this study were in the form of scores on the results of the test skills for reading fable text and tests of fable story writing skills. The data was obtained through two types of tests namely objective tests to measure the skill of reading fable story texts and performance tests to measure the writing skills of fable stories. The results of this study are three. First, the ability to read fable story texts in class VIII Padang Public Middle School 35 is in good qualification (B) with an average value of 77.55. Second, the skill to write fable story texts in grade VIII Padang Public Middle School 35 is in good qualification (B) with an average value of 73.97. Third, there is a contribution to the contribution of fable's text reading skills to the fable writing text skills of Grade VIII students of Padang State Middle School at 67.57%. It was concluded that the skill to read fable story texts contributed to the skill of writing fable story texts. Kata kunci: Kontribusi, Keterampilan membaca, Menulis, Teks Cerita Fabel

The aimed of this study at investigating how the use of video clips could improve students’ speaking skills of the class VIII D students of SMP NEGERI 1 Madang Suku III OKU TIMUR. This research was categorized into action research and implemented 2 cycles based on the class schedule. The researcher collaborated with the English teacher in this research. The sample of the study was 26 students of class VIII.D. The qualitative data are obtained through observation, interview, and documentation related to the teaching and learning process of speaking in the classroom including the techniques used by the teacher, the learning media and the classroom speaking activities. The findings showed that the use of video clip as the teaching media combined with the use of speaking activities and classroom English was proven to be effective to improve the students’ speaking skills. It means that students’ attention and increased their learning motivation. Through native speakers’ talks, the students got appropriate models and could have better understanding how to use English in real situation so it opened their opportunity to practice speaking. The students who just gained 6.35 in the pre-test were able to increase their score up to 13.65 in the post-test. It indicated that they made a considerable improvement in some aspects of speaking skills such as fluency, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. This study aims to determine the effect of time token strategy to improve students' speaking skills. This research method is a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent design. The study population was the students of SMP Al-Ijtihad 2 Kutabaru. There are four classes consisting of class VIII A, VIII B, VIII C, and VIII D. Consisting of 33 VIII A students, 32 VIII B students, 33 VIII C students, and 33 VIII students. The total population is 131 students. The researcher took several students to be the research sample. Purposive Sampling was chosen as the sampling technique in this study. Consisting of 65 students, class VIII B as the experiment class and VIII C as the control class. The two classes were given different treatment. The experimental class was taught using Time Token Strategy while the control class was taught using conventional methods. The study was started by giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test to both classes. The data from the test were analyzed using the t-test formula at a significant level of 5% (0.05). The results of the pre-test analysis using the t-test formula obtained data that shows tcount 1.934461139 is smaller than ttable 2.00, which means that H0 is accepted. Meanwhile, the post-test results show that tcount 2.64672013 is betterr than ttable 2.00, which means H1 is accepted. Based on the research conducted, it proves that there are significant differences in the results of learning speaking using the Time Token Strategy at SMP Al-Ijtihad 2 Kutabaru, and the Time Token Strategy can make students more active in the learning process.Keywords: Strategy Time Token, Speaking Skill.

This study aims to analyze the influence of Android-based role playing learning models towards students' motivation in speaking skills. This study used a quasi-experimental method with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample of this study consisted of two classes. The research instrument used tests and questionnaires. Based on the results of the average value of the experimental class pretest class is 59.25 and posttest is 72.95 has increased by 13.70 while the average value of the pre-test control class is 68.3 and post-test is 58.75 experienced a decrease of 9.55. The average questionnaire result data was 89.5 and it was concluded that there were differences in student motivation  before and after learning with Android-based role playing models. Learning using Android-based has an influence on learning motivation of students in class X TKJ by 53% with the results of t-table > t-count (5.35 > 2.06), then the hypothesis is accepted. At the end of this study, it is hoped that learning based on Android can be used as an alternative in learning speaking skills

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of communicative games that can improve students’ speaking skills in class VIII at SMPN 2 Lamasi. The method that is  applied in this research is a pre-experimental design. The population in this research is the seventh-grade students of SMPN 2 Lamasi, and the total sample is 15 students. The research uses a cluster random sampling technique in determining the sample. The instrument of this research is speaking. The results of this research indicated that after using the communicative games to improve students' speaking skills of SMPN 2 La masi increases. This shows that there are significant differences between student scores in pre-tests and post-test. The mean score of the students’ pre-test is 37.47 and 81.47 in the post-test. So, there is significant different between the result of pre-test and post-test after the treatment. Therefore, the researcher concludes that communicative games is effective in teaching speaking at eight grade of SMPN 2 Lamasi.

This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.

<p>This research presented about the effect of CLT Method on Students’ Speaking Skill at the Second Grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka. The research question was “is there significant effect of CLT Method on Students’ Speaking Skill at the Second Grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka?” The objective was to find out the effect of CLT method, the data and information about students’ speaking skill at the second grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka. The design of this research was quasy expriment in two classes with pre-test and post-test design. The sample were class VIII MTsN 1 Kolaka of 208 students and took 54 students as the sample. The instruments were speaking test comprehension. Data collection techniques in this research were giving pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The result it was found that in expriment class the mean score of pre-test (52,2) was smaller than the mean score of post-test (62,6) it means that the increased of the students’ speaking SKILL was 37% (0,51) and the value of was bigger than at the significant level 0,05 and degree of freedom –26, it means that   was rejected and  was accepted. It can concluded that there was an effect of CLT  method on students’ speaking skill at the second grade of MTsN 1 Kolaka.</p>

The aimed of this research is to test the effectiveness of using Pecha Kucha Technique in students’ speaking performance at fourth semester of English Department in Muhammadiyah University of Metro. Pecha Kucha is a presentation form of 20 pictures for 20 seconds and it is also called 20x20 presentations.The entire presentation always lasts for exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds. The research method used in this research is an experimental research. The subjects of this research are the students at fourth semester of English Department in Muhammadiyah University of Metro academic year 2020. There are 21 students of control group and 21 students of experimental group. The research instrument used to collect the data in this research is an oral test. From the two classes, the experimental and control group, the measurement shows that increasing line of the speaking ability of the experimental group is higher than the control group. The result of pre-test score shows that the average score of the experimental group and the control group are 52.38 and 56.19. From the score of both groups, the result shows that the control group is better than experimental group. Then, the result of the post test of the experimental group is higher than control group; the average scores are 70,71 for experimental group and 62.38 for control group. It can be concluded that there is significant influence of using Pecha Kucha Technique in students’ speaking skill.
