This study tries to propose a unified model integrating the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, task–technology fit (TTF) model, and user satisfaction to investigate the determinants that affect university students’ continued intention of using massive open online courses (MOOCs). Based on the data of a survey on 464 respondents, structural equation modeling is adopted to assess the model. The results reveal that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and user satisfaction are the crucial predictors of university students’ continued intention. TTF has an indirect influence on continued intention through user satisfaction. Performance expectancy is affected both by effort expectancy and TTF. Facilitating conditions do not directly influence continued intention; however, they present indirect influences in that they play a mediating role for user satisfaction. The findings help researchers and practitioners to attain a better understanding of university students’ continued usage intention of MOOCs. The implications and limitations of this study are also described.

Technology acceptance is important for identifying elements that influence the user, so it is easy to use apps. The evaluation of technology reception will help to improve the system better in the future and indicate whether the system succeeded or not, so the users will keep using the apps. SHAREit is a program that can be downloaded on the Android Smartphone platform and on personal computers. It is able to transfer documents, pictures, music, and videos rapidly. Even so, the applications are faster than Bluetooth and Wifi. Then, Indonesia is the biggest second market for SHAREit in the world. The research is proposed to detect how the user accepts SHAREit in Kuningan Regency by using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology Method. It has been modified. The instrument of research is a questionnaire then distributed to user communities of SHAREit in Kuningan Regency by using Incidental Sampling, instrument testing and data processing Structural Equation Modelling by AMOS apps. Furthermore, the hypothesis is arranged through moderator variables; age, gender, and experience. The result of research indicates that there are three factors possessing positive influence on Behavioral Intention of usage SHAREit, such as Performance Expectancy, Social Influence, and Facilitating Conditions. A factor influencing use of behavioral is behavioral intention. Whereas, Personal Innovativeness in the Domain of Information Technology and Effort Expectancy do not influence the Behavioral Intention of SHAREit Apps in Kuningan Regency.

On account of slow adoption rate of Wearable Fitness Technology (WFT), the device designers need to comprehend the determinants behind the adoption and use of WFT. Which antecedents affect the intention of WFT wearers remains unclear and a brainteaser for designers, especially in developing countries. This study, therefore, examined the factors liable to influence the WFT users in a developing country using the extended ‘Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology’ (UTAUT2) model and ‘Perceived Reliability’. The desired data for assessment the model was assembled from 260 Bangladeshi respondents using a self-administered questionnaire through online platforms. The Partial-Least-Squares-Structural-Equation-Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique was followed by operationalizing SmartPLS 3.3.3 software to test the proposed hypotheses mentioned in the model. The outcomes of the test confirmed that the facilitating conditions and habit are the most influential determinants for intention-to-use and actual use of WFT followed by performance expectancy and facilitating conditions respectively. Contrariwise, effort expectancy was unearthed to have no notable impact on behavioral intention whereas price value showed negative association with intention. The documentation of the findings could benefit WFT vendors and those policymakers who have strong desire to enter in developing countries’ market.

Purpose This paper aims to analyse the adoption of fitness wearables by using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The study analyses the relative weights and causal combinations of antecedent variables on use and intention to use fitness wearables. Design/methodology/approach The study design involves two stages: first, from the perspective of variable-oriented analysis, a structural equation model is tested using partial least squares (PLS) technique on a sample of 176 adopters and a second sample of 187 non-adopters. Second, from the perspective of case-oriented analysis, a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) identifies causal combinations of variables that lead to use of wearables by adopters and intention to use by non-adopters. Findings PLS results show that performance expectancy and effort expectancy have high net effects on use and intention to use for adopters. FsQCA analysis shows that current users follow a streamlined path to adoption. High beliefs on performance expectancy and effort expectancy are the main influences of intention to use a fitness wearable for non-adopters. In contrast to adopters, non-adopters may follow a number of paths to intention to use through performance expectancy, effort expectancy or facilitating conditions. This insight was apparent only after analysing the data sets by using fsQCA. Research limitations/implications For sake of parsimony, this paper tested UTAUT model instead of the more complex unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2. Practical implications Marketers in the fitness category can enhance use and intention to use by utilising not one but a combination of causal factors such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy and facilitating conditions. Wide societal deployment of wearables depends on performance and expectations. Social implications The widespread use of mobile devices depends on performance expectancy and effort expectancy. To transit to a real knowledge economy, co-creation should occur at early stages of product development so that these expectations are shared and better products be developed. Originality/value This paper offers a nuanced understanding of fitness wearable adoption by analysing adopters and non-adopters through variable- and case-oriented techniques. It complements the one-linear-path perspective with a number of alternative causal combinations of variables that lead to use and intention to use fitness wearables. While the causal path for adopters is unique, there are a number of causal combinations of antecedents that lead to high intention to use in potential adopters.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to extend and validate the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) for investigating the effect of transparency on the adoption of e-Government in Indonesia from the perspective of citizens. Design/methodology/approach A comprehensive review of the related literature leads to the development of a transparency-focused conceptual model to better understanding the adoption of e-Government. Structural equation modelling is used for analysing the data collected from the citizens in Indonesia. Findings This study confirms that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions and transparency are the critical factors for evaluating the citizen adoption of e-Government in Indonesia. In addition, transparency is found to be the strongest factor that influences the decision of Indonesian citizens to adopt e-Government. Research limitations/implications From the theoretical perspective, the use of the UTAUT model is extended by incorporating the transparency factor that is vital to the adoption of e-Government in developing countries such as Indonesia. Practical implications In terms of managerial and policy implications, this research offers the Indonesian Government suggestions on how the adoption of e-Government can be improved. Originality/value This is the first study that extends and empirically validates the UTAUT model with transparency for evaluating the adoption of e-Government from the perspective of citizens in Indonesia. It demonstrates how the transparency factor can be incorporated to better understand the adoption of e-Government in such a context.

While mobile marketing is widely practised in developed countries, this is not always the case for developing countries, such as Jordan, where the acceptance level for mobile marketing remains low. This study aims to uncover the predictors for the behaviour of Jordanian customers with regard to the acceptance of mobile marketing. For this purpose, a questionnaire based on quantitative research was conceived. This investigation involved the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2), which was extended to include two additional variables: ‘trust’ and ‘risk’. For the empirical testing of the model, data was collected from 321 respondents, and the hypotheses were tested through variance-based structural equation modelling. SmartPLS 3.0 was used to analyse the data. The findings from this study suggest that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, social influence, price value, facilitating conditions, habit and risk significantly influence the behavioural intention of customers regarding the adoption of mobile marketing. On the other hand, the trust factor was found to be an insignificant predictor in this area.
