The problem of this study is how to make a link between four studies, which reflect how they integrated to make one pound study, or how they are aligned together in order to explain and interept the chanalenges facing the sudan economy. So study is aggregation to four studies by using meta-analysis method which is suitable for intergrating studies with the aim of elaborating main stream focusing in how the different studies under consideration reaching same results with different methods. Hence here the study seeks for increasing the power of testing the main question of the study which is the challenge that faced the Sudan economy particularly the structural distortion of economic variables. The study gathered the results of the four mentioned studies which are almost concerned with the exchange rate. The results confirmed the structural problem which faced the Sudan economy, while meta-analysis results assured and empowered the hypothesis of the study in terms of significant effect size. Moreover, the results consolidated the similarity of the studies in manipulating the problem of this study. In addition to that the heterogeneity stems from differences in the effect size of each study rather than differences in the sample sizes of the studies. Finally the study of exchange rate volatility has greater effect size, next to the study of estimating the error correction of exchange rate model while the studies of appropriate estimator of exchange rate and profitability of commercial banks have slight and insignificant effect size. Finally the different results assure the convenientability of meta analysis in reflecting the chellenges that faced the Sudanese economy and their ramifications, then accordingly the suggested remedies which may help in tackling the matter.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study how the foreign currency account (FCA) is affected by the domestic fixed deposit (FD) rate, the FCA rate, the expected exchange rate and exchange rate risk. Design/methodology/approach This paper analyses the causal relationship between the domestic FD rate, the FCA rate, the expected exchange rate on a set of foreign currency deposits and exchange rate volatility, based on the theory of portfolio choice. Based on the theory, the panel vector autoregressive regression of fully modified ordinary least squares and dynamic ordinary least squares are modelled. Findings There is no cointegrating relationship for the three-month FCA deposits, the domestic FD rate, the FCA rate and the expected exchange rate. Only the six-month FCA business deposits are affected by the domestic FD rate, the FCA rate and the expected exchange rate. The FCA depositors are not affected by exchange rate volatility. Research limitations/implications This study is conducted based on the FCA rate quoted by the leading commercial banks in Malaysia, Maybank. Thus, the FCA rate is used as a proxy for the FCA rate of commercial banks in Malaysia. Originality/value Individual depositors have to save in more than the three-month FCA to realise their expected return. For individuals, the FCA deposit is not an alternative choice to domestic FD. Exporters may use the FCA deposit to finance their foreign purchases to save the cost of foreign exchange conversion but it is still not an appropriate hedging tool against foreign exchange fluctuations as compared to the existing forward foreign exchange facility.

In the economic growth of a country, the banking sector plays a significant role (Alam, Rabbani, Tausif, & Abey, 2021). The overall objective of the study is to investigate the financial performance of commercial banks in emerging markets. The study tried to see the impact of governance, exchange rate volatility, trade openness, and internet access on the financial performance of commercial banks in Ethiopia during the years from 2014 to 2019. The study employed a random-effects model using balanced panel data. The result indicated that composite governance index, trade openness, and internet access have a positive and statistically significant effect on the financial performance of commercial banks as measured by their return on assets. However, the exchange rate volatility has a negative and statistically significant effect on the financial performance of commercial banks. On the other hand, the result of bank-specific variables considered in the study such as profit margin, asset utilization, net interest margin, overhead efficiency, and numbers of branches have a positive and statistically significant effect on the financial performance of commercial banks. Contrarily, the equity multiplier ratio has a negative and significant effect on the financial performance of commercial banks

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) on academic achievement. The study was conducted using the meta-analysis method. In the present study, a total of 40 studies that were carried out between 2010 and 2020 and met the inclusion criteria were subjected to meta-analysis. In the present study, the values of the effect size and combined effect size of each study included in the meta-analysis were calculated using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software. The sample of the study consists of 3474 participants. The results of the study revealed that the studies were usually conducted at the university stage with a medium sample size, and published as articles. It was also revealed that most of the studies were carried out in the field of sciences and social sciences. Considering the intervention durations, it was observed that the studies were particularly carried out within a period between 1 and 4 weeks (37.8%). According to the results of the analysis, the average effect size was calculated as 0.523. Considering the results, it can be stated that CSCL has a positive and moderate effect on academic achievement. Also, the results of the moderator analysis revealed that the effect of CSCL on academic achievement did not change by the learning stage, domain subject, and the sample size but it changed by the intervention duration.

The purpose of this paper is to present the results of a meta-analysis of the relationship between determinant factors and tax evasion based on deterrence approach. Using the meta-analysis method, each statistical result of empirical studies is converted into r-pearson as standardized effect size, and then synthesized into a mean effect size in order to increase power and to resolve uncertainty. Theoretically, increasing audit, tax rate and tax penalty will decrease tax evasion. However, the results show that only tax rate has a significant impact on tax evasion. Synthesizing totally 478 outcomes from articles published between 1978 and 2018, there is a robust conclusion that decreasing tax rate is an effective tool in combating tax evasion. On the other hand, audit and penalty are not significant in influencing tax evasion. In addition, the results of heterogeneity analysis suggest that national culture and income level of the country are useful in explaining the impact of audit, tax rate and tax penalty on tax evasion. These findings should be of interest to policymakers. First, instead of sacrificing more resources in conducting audit or imposing more penalty, tax authorities should consider setting the tax rate as low as possible to diminish tax evasion. Second, considering that culture and income level influence the impact of audit and penalty on tax evasion, policymakers should consider national cultural values and income level condition when designing audit techniques and setting penalty structures.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of digital stories on academic achievement. In order to achieve this purpose, meta analysis method was used in the study. Within the scope of the study, ERIC, Google Academic, YÖK Thesis Center, ProQuest, Science Direct and ULAKBİM databases were scanned and 23 studies (10 theses, 13 articles) were included in the meta-analysis using the criteria determined by the researchers. Cochran’s X2 (Q = 285,155, p < .05) test was conducted to test whether the studies included in the study were heterogeneous. Random effects model was used to calculate effect size since heterogeneity was determined between studies. At the end of the study, it was seen that the general effect size (Hedge’s g = 1.081) regarding the effect of digital stories on academic achievement was strong, that there was a positive effect in all areas according to the lessons which was higher for Science. It was also observed that the effect was positive in all dimensions according to the education level, there was a difference between the education levels and the highest effect occurred at university and middle school levels.

This study investigated Bank-characteristic and Macro-Economic factors affecting commercial banks’ profitability in Sub Saharan Africa for the period of 2008-2017 using panel data of 56 listed banks drawn from the Sub-Region. Secondary data ex-tracted from the listed Commercial Banks' financial statements were analyzed. The explanatory variables were represented by Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, Leverage Ratio and Exchange Rate while profitability was represented by Return on Assets (ROA). The study explored a correlational research design to examine the effect of Bank-characteristic and Macro-Economic factors on commercial banks’ profitability. VCE Robust Regressions were employed for the combined banks and country-specific banks’ analysis based on the Hausman Test Specification (fixed and random effects model). Although the Hausman specification test suggested that a fixed effect model is appropriate for the integrated banks’ data analysis, the study used VCE Robust Re-gression to underpin the outcome of the Hausman specification. The study found that Bank-characteristic and macro-economic factors had significantly affected the com-mercial banks' profitability over the study period for the aggregate model of all the banks while only internal factors mainly influenced banks’ profitability for the coun-try-specific banks’ profitability. The Credit Risk had a positive and significant rela-tionship with banks’ profitability while Exchange Rate had a negative and significant relationship with bank profitability during the study period. In controlling foreign exchange rate volatility, Sub-Sahara Africa Clearing Union (SACU) is recommended for Central Banks of member countries to enable them to settle payments for transac-tions within the Sub-region on the basis of multilateral pacts. This will, in turn, reduce the negative effect of an exchange rate increase in the sub-region and subsequently enhance banks’ profitability.
