The high oil content in fried products, including mushroom chips, can cause low quality chips. Chips contain a lot of oil which causes easy oxidation which can cause a rancid odor. This service aims to improve the quality of chips through the application of an oil draining spinner. The application of this machine is intended to reduce the maximum oil content in the oyster mushroom chips. The implementation stage begins with providing partners with a complete understanding of the tool. Furthermore, the engine performance test was carried out in the oil draining process, and the evaluation of the draining results is carried out. The results show that partners understand very well the parts, the function, and the working principle of the machine. Draining using the machine can effectively reduce the oil content of the chips, although a few chips were found to be damaged due to friction or impact with the machine wall. The draining capacity and resistance of the chips to not go rancid can be increased.

Early stage of engine valvetrain noise improvement involves the implementation of Design of Experiment (DOE) specifically the Taguchi methodology to identify the optimum valvetrain parameters which resulted in significant noise improvement. The parameters are consist of seven controlled factors such as cylinder head tappet bore diameter, mechanical tappet diameter, valve spring load, camshaft exhaust and intake waviness together with tappet exhaust and intake clearance. The confirmation run which was previously completed yields the valvetrain noise level at 67.07db SPL by 1 meter distance in completed vehicle during idling condition. In order to satisfy the final quality of the optimal valvetrain, a test is carried out to validate the performance curve on a dynamometer according to benchmark specification. The objective of the test is to validate the optimal valvetrain based on the experimental result which minimum manufacturing target shall be achieved to indicate that the engine is operated within its intended design. The performance test was conducted at the manufacturing plant on an eddy current dynamometer which runs for 11 hours. As results, the performance are within the standard with approximate increased by 6.9% as compared with baseline valvetrain and confirmed by several follow-up tests made on the improved valvetrain. In order to verify and address the main engine output of the optimal valvetrain, brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) and emissions test results are then presented at the end of this paper.

Spinach chips is one of the snack products with the main ingredients of fried spinach using flour. The quality of spinach chips is influenced by the amount of oil contained in spinach chips. The use of spinner machine is proven to reduce or eliminate the oil content quickly and improve the quality of the product but the spinner machine available on the market can not be used to drain the oil contained in spinach chips because the rotational speed in the setting of more than 400 rpm can cause damage to spinach chips . This study aims to modify the spinner by lowering the speed of rotation and do the financial feasibility analysis of spinach chips production. The method used in this research is through the approach of engineering design and financial feasibility. The design approach consists of problems identification, formulation of modification concept, functional and performance test while some parameters calculated in financial feasibility analysis are: cost of production (HPP), net present value (NPV), benefit cost ratio (BCR), internal rate of return (IRR), and payback period (PBP). The results showed a decrease in rotational speed from 532.50 rpm to 258.18 rpm was proven to be able to remove the oil content on spinach chips and avoid the damage of spinach chips from 50% to no broken spinach chips. At production capacity of spinach chips 150 kg / month obtained cost of production amounted to Rp. 43,087 / kg. When spinach chips sold at market price Rp.50,000 / kg obtained NPV of Rp. 15,088,782/ month, BCR of 1.10, IRR of 12% and capital will return in the eigth month.

The purpose of this article is to propose 4 dimensions for consideration in hearing aid fittings and 4 tests to evaluate those dimensions. The 4 dimensions and tests are (a) working memory, evaluated by the Revised Speech Perception in Noise test (Bilger, Nuetzel, & Rabinowitz, 1984); (b) performance in noise, evaluated by the Quick Speech in Noise test (QSIN; Killion, Niquette, Gudmundsen, Revit, & Banerjee, 2004); (c) acceptance of noise, evaluated by the Acceptable Noise Level test (ANL; Nabelek, Tucker, & Letowski, 1991); and (d) performance versus perception, evaluated by the Perceptual–Performance test (PPT; Saunders & Cienkowski, 2002). The authors discuss the 4 dimensions and tests in the context of improving the quality of hearing aid fittings.

Chip seal is most frequently used as preventive maintenance (PM) treatments on asphalt pavement. However, it’s difficult to make the performance test of chip seal in laboratory. In this paper, the specimen molding method of chip seal is established in laboratory. Firstly, considering the structure and technique condition of the original pavement, a cushion layer of asphalt concrete (AC) is used as under layer of the specimen. Secondly, the construction process of chip seal is simulated in laboratory, which includes spraying emulsified asphalt and/or glass fiber, spreading aggregate, initial rolling and conservation, post-stage rolling and conservation in interval for some time. Lastly, visual inspection and sand patch test are used to evaluate the quality of the specimen. Research results show that the method of specimen molding and test in laboratory could relatively accurately simulate, evaluate and forecast the performance of the chip seal.

This study was conducted to assess fruit and seed yield, oil content and oil composition of Jatropha curcas fertilized with different doses of nitrogen and potassium in Espinal (Tolima, Colombia). The yields ranged from 4,570 to 8,800 kg ha-1 of fruits and from 2,430 to 4,746 kg ha-1 of seeds. These yields showed that the fertilizer dose of 150 kg ha-1 N + 120 kg ha-1K increased fruit production by 92% and seed production by 95%, which represents an increase of about 100% in oil production, which increased from 947 to 1,900 kg ha-1. The total oil content in the seeds ranged from 38.7 to 40.1% (w/w) with a high content of the unsaturated fatty acids oleic (> 47%) and linoleic acid (> 29%). The highest content of oleic acid in the seed oil was from the unfertilized control plants and plants with an application of 100 kg ha-1 of N and 60 kg ha-1 of K, with an average of 48%. The lowest content of oleic acid was registered when a low dose of nitrogen and a high level of potassium were applied at a ratio of 1:2.4 and doses of 50 kg ha-1 N + 120 kg ha-1 K, respectively. Low contents of the saturated fatty acids palmitic (13.4%) and stearic (7.26%) were obtained, making this oil suitable for biodiesel production. The nitrogen was a more important nutrient for the production and quality of oil in J. curcas than potassium under the studied conditions of soil and climate.
