The purpose of the research is to investigate the representation or misrepresentation of Pashtun culture through the study of different signs and to inspect that how these signs relate to Pashtun culture by employing semiotics as a tool. To achieve the goal, twelve distinct Pashto film posters that were published during 2011-2017 were selected and categorized under poster design, dressing, props and titles, as these aspects act as signs for depicting cultural insights. The research was guided by the Pierce triadic model for analyzing the type of signs and their interpretation. Various iconic, indexical and symbolic signs were discovered representing the Pashtu cultural traits through certain signs, e.g., traditional dressing, chivalry, male dominance and women segregation, etc. On the other hand, certain extraneous signs were explored, distorting the purity of Pashtun culture by utilizing various signs that were interpreted as referring to violence and vulgarity, which are not acceptable in real Pashtun culture.

The study attempts to highlight feminists’ critics against traditional Christian theology on women. Traditional Cristian theology or known as Biblical or Christian patriarchy by the feminists has allegedly been studied and comprehended from a patriarchal perspective of male dominance hence misrepresentation of female scriptural image within the Bible. In this study, feminists’ critics on issue pertaining to women in the Bible were selected and analyzed its specifics before scrutinized further from Qur’anic point of view. The study finds that despite the feminists’ claim of image defamation of women in the Bible, the Qur’ān on the other hand represented its female subjects in the most acceptable non-discriminative manner. Women as depicted in the Qur’ān were purged of any offensive and denounced outcomes of their own existence and nature. Utilizing scriptural-textual analysis method, the study embarks on deriving points of comparison between the two scriptures highlighting agreements and discrepancies of both texts.

A technical problem is identified and needs to be visualised through developing a graphic model and completing drawings. The basic knowledge of the writing and reading technical drawings is learnt in the Engineering Graphics course. In this paper drawings are treated as semiotic signs applying Peirce´s triadic model of representation. The representation of an object (future product) can take different forms: icons, indexes and symbols. On the other hand, for the image of an object, there must be three modes: iconic relation - firstness, indexical relation – secondness, and symbolic relation – thirdness. Various forms of graphic representation of the spur gear, i.e. icon, index and symbol, are presented.

Cerita klasik usaha manusia untuk menaklukkan ruang dan waktu sudah menjadi impian sejak dahulu. Novel fiksi ilmiah terkenal The Time Machine (1895) karya H.G. Pada tahun 2002 industri film Hollywood memproduksi kembali cerita klasik populer The Time Machine. Fantasy Trip Entering the Space and Time (Semiotics Analysis on Film The Time Machine). Classic stories about human’s dreams to conquer space and time have been existing since long time ago. One of the most known science fiction novel about space and time wanderers is The Time Machine (1895) by H.G. Wells. This novel was than adapted in the movie  with the same title (2002) by movie industry in Hollywood. This movie is both a form of a creative work  and on the other hand is entertaining. This movie was very popular at the time because it could express the human imagination of time wanderers and the technology used and at the same time could realize it although only in a movie form. The technology of the time wandering itself is impossible at the time, even nowaday. Science fiction is then known as a genre of movie which could realize human imaginations. Using semiotic analysis, this study is trying to review this movie to show the fake thruths that Hollywood is than just a part of super power state (US)  statements. The result of the study is trying to give references to audience that the movie they might watch might be just a fake imagination.

The South African secular media do not frequently portray men in parental roles; on the other hand, it seems that media and visual culture created by the Christian sector is more likely to engage with issues of fatherhood. Accordingly, it is relevant to explore representations of fatherhood in the Christian context, as these constitute some of the few examples of mens parental roles in the South African visual culture landscape. Through a Barthean visual semiotic analysis, this article describes and problematises the representation (and non-representation) of certain aspects of fatherhood in the recent visual culture of three Afrikaans corporate churches in the Pretoria-Centurion area. It further establishes that strong connections between breadwinning, male headship and fatherhood exist in images created by these churches. Fathers are mainly shown as patriarchs, heads of households and as active outdoor adventurers. We argue that although men are depicted as involved parents, there are certain limitations and exclusions to this involvement.

AbstractWe have developed a model for theH2OandOHevolution in a comet outburst, assuming that together with the gas, a distribution of icy grains is ejected. With an initial mass of icy grains of 108kg released, theH2OandOHproductions are increased up to a factor two, and the growth curves change drastically in the first two days. The model is applied to eruptions detected in theOHradio monitorings and fits well with the slow variations in the flux. On the other hand, several events of short duration appear, consisting of a sudden rise ofOHflux, followed by a sudden decay on the second day. These apparent short bursts are frequently found as precursors of a more durable eruption. We suggest that both of them are part of a unique eruption, and that the sudden decay is due to collisions that de-excite theOHmaser, when it reaches the Cometopause region located at 1.35 × 105kmfrom the nucleus.

We have become accustomed to differentiating between the scanning microscope and the conventional transmission microscope according to the resolving power which the two instruments offer. The conventional microscope is capable of a point resolution of a few angstroms and line resolutions of periodic objects of about 1Å. On the other hand, the scanning microscope, in its normal form, is not ordinarily capable of a point resolution better than 100Å. Upon examining reasons for the 100Å limitation, it becomes clear that this is based more on tradition than reason, and in particular, it is a condition imposed upon the microscope by adherence to thermal sources of electrons.

Life beyond 1MeV – like life after 40 – is not too different unless one takes advantage of past experience and is receptive to new opportunities. At first glance, the returns on performing electron microscopy at voltages greater than 1MeV diminish rather rapidly as the curves which describe the well-known advantages of HVEM often tend towards saturation. However, in a country with a significant HVEM capability, a good case can be made for investing in instruments with a range of maximum accelerating voltages. In this regard, the 1.5MeV KRATOS HVEM being installed in Berkeley will complement the other 650KeV, 1MeV, and 1.2MeV instruments currently operating in the U.S. One other consideration suggests that 1.5MeV is an optimum voltage machine – Its additional advantages may be purchased for not much more than a 1MeV instrument. On the other hand, the 3MeV HVEM's which seem to be operated at 2MeV maximum, are much more expensive.
