Individuals' reluctance to take precautions before the disasters happen is one of the most critical concerns of the disaster management area. The disaster education given through schools is a critical process in addressing this problem. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the teacher training program model and the implementation practices of Turkey's School-Based Disaster Education Project. In Turkey, there are few studies regarding the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation stages of Disaster Risk Reduction education for teachers. The project has been carried out within the framework of the Ministry of National Education and Japan International Cooperation Agency. An at-scale cascade teacher professional development model was implemented. The model reached 135,375 teachers in 67 provinces by the 567 trainer teachers in a relatively short time with the cascade training system. This project has brought a significant nationwide disaster risk reduction training experience for Turkey with its economic and sustainable structure.

Since the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction began in the 1990s, education has been recognized as having a cross-cutting role in disaster reduction by extending the people’s engagement to the creation and maintenance of sustainable communities internationally. During the same period, Japan has experienced large earthquakes, following which Japan has promoted comprehensive school safety and practical disaster education. Although conditions may vary between Japan and other countries, the approaches, issues and challenges of disaster education have much in common. The 2015-2030 Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR), fully integrates education and includes the overall goal of disaster risk reduction (DRR) in the full disaster management cycle, from prevention, mitigation and preparedness to response, recovery and rehabilitation. Minimizing loss and damage to educational facilities is included as one of global indicators of SFDRR. A comprehensive approach to school safety is emphasized, including the safety of the learning environment, disaster management and DRR education. An awareness of such commonalities, under the SFDRR, international cooperation for promoting education for resilient communities should be promoted in Japan and globally.

Disaster Storytelling has become a topic of interest in various fields that address disaster risk reduction. The purpose of this study is to establish this concept as a tool for building a disaster-resilient society. An extensive literature survey showed that Disaster Storytelling has two major functions: disaster education and promoting recovery from disasters. This study shows that these two functions can be attributed to reciprocity, which is inherent in storytelling. Our primary conclusion is that, along with recent trends in Disaster Storytelling, such as disaster tourism, the practice will be expanded, the network of Disaster Storytelling activities will be reinforced, and Disaster Storytelling will contribute to the development of a more resilient society.

Abstract In vulnerable disaster-geographical condition in ring of fire, schools in Indonesia have conducted innovation of disaster mitigation education recent years. A disaster mitigation model in Indonesia is the use of local wisdom. Local wisdom-based disaster education aims as grand design during learning process and it supports the formation of student resilience. Therefore, to revive the value of local wisdom, it needs reinterpretation through adaptation of local knowledge and revitalization of contemporary conditions as innovations in disaster risk reduction. Through the integration of local wisdom based on disaster mitigation curriculum in the learning process, it is expected to be able to take fast, precise and accurate steps in dealing with disasters that occur in every region in Indonesia.

Landslides have occurred in various places in Indonesia. Likewise with West Java, there were many regions that has experienced repeated landslides. Having many experience of occurrences of landslides, we should have had a good landslide risk reduction program. Indeed, the incidence of landslides depends on many variables. Due to that condition, it may that a region would have different variable with another region. So it is impossible to generalize the implementation of a mitigation technology for all areas prone to landslides. Research of the Cililin's landslide is to anticipate the next disasters that may happen in around the area of 2013 Cililin Landslide. Through observation lithological conditions, water condition, land cover and landscape, as well as consideration of wide dimension of the building footing, the distance of building to the slopes and so forth, it has been determined some efforts of disaster risk reduction in the area around the landslide against the occurrence of potential landslide in the future.Bencana tanah longsor telah terjadi di berbagai tempat di Indonesia. Demikian halnya dengan Jawa Barat, tidak sedikit daerahnya telah berulang kali mengalami longsor. Seharusnya dengan telah banyaknya kejadian longsor, kita mampu mengupayakan program penurunan risiko longsor secara baik. Memang kejadian longsor bergantung pada banyak variabel, dimana dari satu daerah dengan daerah yang lain akan sangat memungkinkan mempunyai variabel yang berbeda, sehingga tidak mungkin kita membuat generalisasi penerapan suatu teknologi mitigasinya untuk semua daerah rawan longsor. Penelitian longsor di Cililin dilakukan untuk mengantisipasi terjadinya bencana di sekitar daerah Longsor Cililin 2013 yang lalu. Melalui pengamatan kondisi litologi, keairan, tutupan lahan dan bentang alam yang ada, serta pertimbangan akan dimensi luas pijakan bangunan, jarak batas bangunan dengan lereng dan lain sebagainya, telah ditentukan beberapa upaya penurunan risiko bencana di daerah sekitar longsor terhadap potensi kejadian longsor dimasa mendatang.Keywords: Landslide, risk reduction, footing of building, Cililin
