Language Antinomies Concerning Spelling of Short Forms of Verbal Adjectives with н or нн

According to the Russian orthography, the spelling of short forms of verbal words in -нный with н (n) or with нн (nn) before a non-zero ending depends on the grammatical status of the word: participle or adjective. It is believed that writing expresses a systemic opposition of grammatical categories, i.e. the reflective vector of the antinomy “reflective – conditional” operates in this area. But is it possible to check whether the antinomy was chosen correctly to describe a particular picture of the studied area of writing? Are there any distinctive features of the types of spellings obtained as a result of the action of one or another antinomy? We attempt to answer the latter using the example of the spelling of short verbal adjectives. Proceeding from the fact that short forms of participles are always written with only one letter н, and short forms of adjectives with a non-zero ending are threefold: either with нн, or with н, or both with н and with нн, depending on the meaning and / or model management, — we will evaluate the quantitative ratio of these groups, how they are recorded in different dictionaries, compare the codification and the usual norm, as reflected in the texts of the RNC resources and Google books, we will determine what is being implemented in writing steadily and what is not. Based on the results obtained, one can try to understand whether the letter regularly reflects precisely the grammatical opposition.

A detailed description is given here of Garifuna, the only Arawakan language spoken in Central America, regarding its verb morphology from a typological-functional perspective. It provides a more encompassing view in comparison to previous studies insofar as it describes the verbal dimension as a thematic unit. It provides an inventory of Garifuna verb forms, with special emphasis on verb-formation, verb classes, the existence and distribution of short forms, as well as the distinction between verboids (nominalized forms) and full verbs; additionally, reference is made to forms fulfilling the profile of auxiliaries, and the paper next identifies all relevant grammatical categories of the Garifuna verb.

The article defines the concept of grammatical category, its place in linguistics, and explores the possibilities of expressing quantitative categories in languages with different systems. The aim of the study is to examine the relevance and functionality of logical quantitative category concepts in a comparative aspect, to define the linguistic meaning of the concept of quantitative category as one of the grammatical categories in linguistics, and to define the category of language in the system of grammatical and morphological categories. There are also a number of typological differences between the quantitative categories in Azerbaijani and English. These differences clearly manifest themselves both semantic and grammatical (morphological and syntactic). The article is also devoted to the study of quantitative units based on comparative materials in the Azerbaijani and English languages, identifying ways of expressing them, identifying their specific features and identifying common - similar and distinctive features.

Introduction. This paper considers some features of noun morphology in the translation of the “Gospel of Luke” (1821) into the Erzya language, namely the indicators of such grammatical categories of the noun as number, case and the categories of possessiveness and definiteness. Analysis of old manuscripts is necessary, as it provides important information in the reconstruction of the language. Materials and Methods. The text of the translation of the “Gospel of Luke” (1821) into Erzya, materials of the Erzya dialects were collected by the author during the expeditions to Samara region in 2011–2012. The analysis of the books on the topic of dialect features of the Erzya dialects were also used for the research. When working with the material, the morphological paradigms in the published part of the concordance of the “Gospel of Luke” (lingvodoc.ispras.ru) and the material obtained by the method of continuous sampling were compared with the data of modern dialects of the Erzya language. Results and Discussion. It is shown that the indicators of the category of number of nouns in the text of the manuscript correspond to the affixes of the Central dialect and are used according to the same rules. The case system is different from the case system of the literary language, namely the semantics of some cases is represented by other case formants, postpositions, and other syntactic constructions. The index declension is represented by the formant -s’t’, and the possessive declension shows the numerical difference between the possessors in 1 and 3 persons singular. Conclusion. The analysis of the language material allows to conclude that the translated text belongs to the Central dialect, which has its own distinctive features. At the same time, the final solution of the dialectal affiliation of the manuscript should be based on a comprehensive account not only of the material considered in the paper, but also, at least, on the results of further detailed analysis of the features of phonetics, morphology and vocabulary.

Cat extraocular muscles consist of two regions: orbital, and global. The orbital region contains predominantly small diameter fibers, while the global region contains a variety of fibers of different diameters. The differences in ultrastructural features among these muscle fibers indicate that the extraocular muscles of cats contain at least five structurally distinguishable types of fibers.Superior rectus muscles were studied by light and electron microscopy, mapping the distribution of each fiber type with its distinctive features. A mixture of 4% paraformaldehyde and 4% glutaraldehyde was perfused through the carotid arteries of anesthetized adult cats and applied locally to exposed superior rectus muscles during the perfusion.

The Worry Domains Questionnaire was proposed as a measure of both pathological and nonpathological worry, and assesses the frequency of worrying about five different domains: relationships, lack of confidence, aimless future, work, and financial. The present study analyzed the factor structure of the long and short forms of the WDQ (WDQ and WDQ-SF, respectively) through confirmatory factor analysis in a sample of 262 students (M age = 21.8; SD = 2.6; 86.3% females). While the goodness-of-fit indices did not provide support for the WDQ, good fit indices were found for the WDQ-SF. Furthermore, no source of misspecification was identified, thus, supporting the factorial validity of the WDQ-SF scale. Significant positive correlations between the WDQ-SF and its subscales with worry (PSWQ), anxiety (STAI-T), and depression (BDI) were found. The internal consistency was good for the total scale and for the subscales. This work provides support for the use of the WDQ-SF, and potential uses for research and clinical purposes are discussed.
