Тhere has been developed technology, and pilot batch of hot rolling coils (6×1500 mm, steel grade S355MC) has been produced using thermo-mechanical controlled process (TMCP) for the wide-strip rolling mill 1700. The integrated technology for TMCP coil production (steel grade S355MC) has been firstly developed for the rolling mill 1700 in accordance with EN 10149-2. Air cooling for coils to 450°C after coiling has been firstly used in the developed technology, which provides for decrease in air scale and improvement of surface quality for the customers. It is possible to manufacture rolled products up to 6×1500 mm (steel grade S355MC) in accordance with EN 10149-2 using the existing equipment without exceeding the existing process constraints during its operation and without upgrading. It is possible to further master the rolled products, which are manufactured according to the TMCP technology.

The paper presents investigation results related to the effect of application of round plain bar normalizing rolling on the selected mechanical properties of finished product. The research was carried out for the process of rolling 38 mm-diameter plain round bars made of constructional steel S355J2G3, based on actual specifications used in industrial conditions in a continuous bar rolling mill. In the course of investigation the yield stress, YS, and the tensile strength, TS, were determined. With the aim of evaluating the effect of controlled (normalizing) rolling on the mechanical properties of the considered steel grade, Zwick Z/100 testing machine was employed and analytical relationships were used. On the basis of performed research work it was established that enhancement of mechanical properties of the considered steel can be obtained as a result of application of the normalizing rolling process.

The paper presents results of the numerical modelling of the plates accelerated cooling process after the rolling process. Research were carried out for one of the plate rolling mill technological conditions. Presented in the paper research were done for a few variants for X70 steel grade. As a result of the carried out research temperature distribution on the cross section of the cooled plates for the analyzed variants of the accelerated cooling process were obtain.

Waste recycling of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals is a useful process for the economy of any country. This paper proposes a new technology for recycling bar scrap of ferrous metals by rolling it in radial-shear rolling mills by producing a commercial product in the form of bars with an ultrafine-grained gradient structure. Studies have shown that the deformation of bar scrap in the form of pieces of reinforcement made of steel grade 18G2S in a radial-shear rolling mill makes it possible to significantly disperse its structure by producing a gradient ultrafine-grained structure, and this, in turn, leads to the elevating of the mechanical characteristics of this steel grade. Thus, the tensile limit of the 18G2S grade steel deformed on the radial-shear rolling mill was 620 MPa (at the initial value of 365 MPa).

Complexity of modern metallurgical plants, presence of great number of horizontal and vertical interactions between their various structural subdivisions makes it necessary to apply a systems analysis to elaborate effective measures for stable development of a plant operation. Among such measures, digitalization of a plant is widespread at present. To implement the digitalization it is necessary to have clear vision about links at all the levels of the technological system of a plant. A terminology quoted, accepted in the existing regulatory documents for defining of conceptions, comprising the technological system. It was shown, that the following four hierarchical levels of technological systems are distinguished: technological systems of operations, technological systems of processes, technological systems of production subdivisions and technological systems of plants. A hierarchical scheme of technological systems of hot-rolled sheet production at an integrated steel plant presented. Existing horizontal and vertical links between the basic plant’s shops shown. Peculiarities of flows of material, energy and information at the operation “rolling” of the technological system “hot rolling of a steel sheet” considered. As a technical system of the technological process of the hot rolling, the hot rolling mill was chosen. A structural diagram of the hot rolling mill was elaborated, the mill being consisted of reheating furnaces, roughing and finishing stand groups, with an intermediate roll-table between them, and down-coilers section. Since the rolling stands are the basic structural elements of the hot rolling mill, structural diagrams of a roughing and a finishing stands were elaborated. Results of the systems analysis of the technological and technical systems, hierarchically linked in the process of steel sheet hot rolling, can be applied for perfection of organization structure of the whole plant, as well as for elaboration mathematical models of a system separate elements functioning, which is a necessary condition for a plant digitalization.
