The use of criteria of an English textbook is crucial to improve the quality of teaching. However, choosing the criteria is a challenging task for teachers and material developers. This recent study aims at developing criteria of an English textbook evaluation for Indonesian Senior High School. This research used Research and Development. Three phases were employed: exploration stage, development stage, and validation stage.  At the exploration stage, 17 respondents of English teachers were asked about the need of developing the criteria of the English textbook. All respondents agreed that the textbook evaluation criteria were needed since there is no particular standardized textbook evaluation available. Therefore, they need to use the criteria as the basis to determine the quality of a particular textbook. At the development stage, 10 criteria to evaluate textbooks were constructed. Those cover (1) aims and approaches; (2) design and organization; (3); content; (4) skills; (5) vocabulary; (6) exercises and activities; (7) methodology; (8) attractiveness of the textbook and physical make-up; (9) teacher’s manual; and (10) practical consideration. At the validation stage, the textbook evaluation criteria were deemed valid by experts. Considering these facts, 10 designed criteria could be used as the principle to determine an evaluation of English textbooks, primarily in the teaching English at Indonesian Senior High school.

The research aims at producing a valid biology module with local wisdom-based to senior high school students of Lubuklinggau. The research used research and development design with local wisdom-based. The development of the module refered to four D model which was developed by Thiagarajan. The model consists of four stages, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. However, the research was limited on the development stage, particularly on validation stage. The validity test on this stage was a theoretic validity, which is executed by the three experts. The validation included material validation, construction/media validation, and language validation. The result showed that the development met the validity criteria with material validity score 4,165; construction/media validity score 4,259; and language validity  score 4,338 categorised to be 'very valid'. In conclusion, the biology module developed with local wisdom-based to senior high school students of Lubuklinggau was valid. Keywords: validity, biology module, local wisdom

The purposes of this development research are: (1) to develop a chemistry comic book in thermochemistry chapter, (2) to evaluate  quality of the chemistry comic book based on assessment of chemistry teachers  and  students at senior high school/islamic senior high school .This research uses procedural model that is a descriptive model. The procedural model contains many steps that we have to follow to launch a product. The development of this chemistry comic book is guided by thesis supervisors, media expert and peer reviewers. The instrument used to evaluate the quality of this chemistry comic book is a set of quality which has some aspects and criteria. The evaluation result is in qualitative data and then the result is tabulated and analyzed by the ideal evaluation criteria category guide to measure the quality of a chemistry comic book. This comic includes 5 sub topics, i.e heat, enthalpy and the change, calculating the change in enthalpy, calorimeter, and fuel. Based on the evaluation converted by 3 chemistry teachers and 6 students, the chemistry comic book developed in this research has a good quality. Based on teachers’ assessment, the chemistry comic book has a good quality, going the score of 146.33 from the maximum point 190 and ideal percentage 77.02%. Meanwhile, based on students’ assessment, it has a good quality, going the score of 106.33 from the maximum point 135 and ideal percentage 78.76%. Looking at textbook evaluation from a corpus linguistics perspective, this paper compares two sets of textbooks used at senior high school in Vietnam and evaluate the effectiveness of the new one, centering on lexical resources at word level, particularly individual words and phrasal verbs. As for the comparison of the wordlist in general, the two corpora, taken from the two sets of textbooks, were analysed by Antconc software to extract the wordlist, then the two wordlists are compared by Venny 2.1.0 to see the similarities and differences. The research reveals a quantifiable evaluation of the lexical resources, tapping into the mutual and exclusive words, as well as examining lexical complexity of the two sets of textbooks. Unlike conventional textbook reviews focusing on grammar, this study is one of the first attempts to evaluate textbooks efficiency from corpus linguistics perspective, which in turn contributes to the improvement of the current English textbooks in Viet Nam, as well as a source of consideration for curriculum design worldwide.

This study aims: (1) to describe and explain the multicultural education content in Interlanguage English textbooks of senior high school level, and (2) to describe and explain the quality of the multicultural education content in Interlanguage English textbooks of senior high school level. The form of this research was descriptive qualitative. The data sources in this study were Interlanguage English textbooks of senior high school in Maroangin and informants, namely the authors of the books analyzed. Data collection techniques using content analysis techniques, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews. Test the validity of the data with the theory and source triangulation techniques, while data analysis used interactive analysis techniques. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that: (1) the contents of multicultural education in the analyzed Interlanguage English textbooks do not fully contain the dimensions of multicultural education. This was evident from the five dimensions that should have existed only three dimensions were raised, namely the dimensions of material integration, the dimension of reducing prejudice, as well as the dimensions of strengthening school culture and social structure. Whereas the other two dimensions, namely the dimension of knowledge construction and the dimension of adjustment of learning methods were not found in the textbook; (2) the quality of multicultural education content in the lessons is still very inadequate. This is because not all multicultural dimensions are integrated into the textbook.

Indriyani et al, (2013) stated that many students had dificulty in understanding the generic structure of analytical exposition text. Therefore, the present study tried to investigate the correlation between students understanding in writing generic structure of analytical exposition and the quality of students’ writing in second grade of senior hight school. Grounded in explanatory correlational research design by Creswell (2011), this study conducted over two weeks in one of senior high school in Indramayu. Close-ended questionnaire and writing test were instruments to collect the data and it was analyzed  by using SPSS 22. The statistical calculation from students understanding in writing generic stucture of the text and writing test indicated that the value of tcount was 3.23 and the value of ttable was 0.361. It can be concluded that the hypothesis was accepted because tcount 3.23 > ttable 0.361. The finding reveal that there was middle correlation or middle prediction in students understanding of generic structure of analytical exposition and students writing quality with the score 0,52.

This research is carried out to examine the developed circular motion physics module in a cooperative learning setting for students of Grade X Science Senior High School in Banjarmasin. This study's general objectives are to produce a circular motion physics module integrated with gumbaan local wisdom in cooperative learning settings and describe its feasibility. Moreover, this study's specific objectives aimed to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the module. This study utilizes the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) development design model. The instruments used consisted of module validation sheets, students’ questionnaire responses, and learning outcome test. The results of the study indicated that: (1) the validity of the module, based on the content and display, obtained a score of 3.20, which fell in the "good" category, (2) the practicality of the module, based on students' questionnaire responses, obtained a percentage of 64.92% which is categorized as “good”, and (3) the effectiveness of the module, based on students' test scores, obtained a score of 0.44 which belonged in the "moderate" category. It is then concluded that the circular motion physics module, which integrated gumbaan local wisdom contents in cooperative learning settings, is proven feasible for learning and teaching and can be used as an alternative reference in improving the quality of learning, especially to improve the learning outcomes of learners. This module can be used as a reference that teachers can use in learning at senior high school.
