The creation of information models requires the use of known methods and the development of new methods of formalizing the pre-design research process. The modeling process consists of four stages: data collection on the object of management - pre-project research; creation of a graphical model of business processes taking place in the enterprise; development of a formal model of business processes; business research by optimizing the formal model. To support the creation of workflow management services and systems, the complex offers methodologies, standards and specialized software that make up the developer's tools. This can be ensured only by modern automated methods based on information systems. It is important that the information collected is structured to meet the needs of potential users and stored in a form that allows the use of modern access technologies. Before discussing the effectiveness of FIM, it should be noted that the basic concept of information itself is still not the same. In a pragmatic way, it is a set of messages in the form of an important document for the system. Information can be evaluated not only by volume, but also by various parameters, the most important of which are: timeliness, relevance, value, aging, accuracy, etc. in addition, the information may be clear, probable and accurate. The methods of its reception and processing are different in each case.

However, the employment of workflow systems as well as mobile technologies comes along with special security challenges. One way to tackle these challenges is the employment of location-aware access control to enforce rules that describe from which locations a user is allowed to perform which activities. The data model behind access control in termed Access Control Model (ACM). There are special ACM for mobile information systems as well as for WfMS, but no one that addresses mobile as well as workflow specific aspects. In the article we therefore discuss the specific constraints such a model should be able to express and introduce an appropriate ACM. A special focus is on location constraints for individual workflow instances.

The aspects of the creation of regional furniture clusters in order to consolidate all of the organizations that are members of such joint structures are considered. Effective strategy for the combined furniture production requires new internal business processes in the direction of increasing the degree of cooperation and collaboration than in a situation of traditional processes. Information systems need to be integrated and group information for all companies.

Industrial/business processes are an evident example of discrete-event systems which are subject to evolution during life-cycle. The design and management of dynamic workflows need adequate formal models and support tools to handle in sound way possible changes occurring during workflow operation. The known, well-established workflow’s models, among which Petri nets play a central role, are lacking in features for representing evolution. We propose a recent Petri net-based reflective layout, called Reflective Petri nets, as a formal model for dynamic workflows. A localized open problem is considered: how to determine what tasks should be redone and which ones do not when transferring a workflow instance from an old to a new template. The problem is efficiently but rather empirically addressed in a workflow management system. Our approach is formal, may be generalized, and is based on the preservation of classical Petri nets structural properties, which permit an efficient characterization of workflow’s soundness.

Business processes managed by information systems rarely operate according to the pre defined scenario. Exceptions to the pre defined workflows occur frequently. This especially applies to the production processes, which are very complex and require a constant human involvement. Workflow management systems should be capable of responding adequately to the exceptions caused by the process environment. Moreover, the response should be automatic, if possible, i.e. the workflow should automatically adapt to the new situation, or otherwise, the system administrator should be informed, so that he could take appropriate actions. This paper presents workflow management system MD, which is capable of offering a satisfying solution to the detected exceptions.

Business process management systems (Smith and Fingar 2003) provide a fundamental infrastructure to define and manage business processes and workflows. These systems are often called process aware information systems (Dumas, Aalst et al. 2005) since they coordinate the automation of interconnected tasks. Well-known systems include Tibco, WebSphere MQ Workflow, FileNet, COSA, etc. Other types of systems, such as ERP, CRM, SCM, and B2B, are also driven by explicit process models and are configured on the basis of a workflow model specifying the order in which tasks need to be executed. When process models or workflows are executed, the underlying management system generates data describing the activities being carried out which is stored in a log file. This log of data can be used to discover and extract knowledge about the execution and structure of processes. The goal of process mining is to extract information about processes from logs. When observing recent developments with respect to process aware information systems (Dumas, Aalst et al. 2005) three trends can be identified. First of all, workflow technology is being embedded in service oriented architectures. Second, there is a trend towards providing more flexibility. It is obvious that in the end business processes interface with people. Traditional workflow solutions expect the people to adapt to the system. However, it is clear that in many situations this is not acceptable. Therefore, systems are becoming more flexible and adaptable. The third trend is the omnipresence of event logs in today’s systems. Current systems ranging from cross-organizational systems to embedded systems provide detailed event logs. In a service oriented architecture events can be monitored in various ways. Moreover, physical devices start to record events. Already today many professional systems (X-ray machines, wafer stepper, high-end copiers, etc.) are connected to the internet. For example, Philips Medical Systems is able to monitor all events taking place in their X-ray machines. The three trends mentioned above are important enablers for path mining and process mining. The abundance of recorded events in structured format is an important enabler for the analysis of run-time behavior. Moreover, the desire to be flexible and adaptable also triggers the need for monitoring. If processes are not enforced by some system, it is relevant to find out what is actually happening, e.g., how frequently do people deviate from the default procedure.

The article discusses methodologies that allow to describe and visualize various business processes, their study and obtaining answers to questions of interest. This is necessary for a visual representation of technological processes and the search for ways to increase their efficiency. For the successful implementation of information systems, the design model must be carefully described; information models of information systems must be built. Without the use of any information technology, the design of objects is carried out on an intuitive level, using practical design skills. Using the methods of visual presentation of information, give a visual representation of the information modeling of the workstation of a sawmill technologist. This involves the construction of structural diagrams, the ability to build diagrams using color schemes, diagrams allow you to test at different levels and determine cyclic elements. CASE-technologies allow you to quickly and clearly develop an information model of any complexity and any depth of detail of the project. CASE tools for developing an information model apply diagrams at various levels. Information modeling of the automated workplace of a sawmill technologist is intended to carry out a set of measures aimed at organizing the technological process of a sawmill for the production of edged and unedged sawn timber.

The transformation of China's design innovation industry has highlighted the importance of design research. The design research process in practice can be regarded as the process of knowledge production. The design 3.0 mode based on knowledge production MODE2 has been shown in the Chinese design innovation industry. On this cognition, this paper establishes a map with two dimensions of how knowledge integration occurs in practice based design research, which are the design knowledge transfer and contextual transformation of design knowledge. We use this map to carry out the analysis of design research cases. Through the analysis, we define four typical practice based design research models from the viewpoint of knowledge integration. This method and the proposed model can provide a theoretical basis and a path for better management design research projects.

Printing service order information systems sometimes experience problems in completing running business processes including, frequent loss and inaccuracy in registering orders from customers, often also losing order data from customers, recording orders often experience errors, resulting inaccurate reporting of order data. A computerized ordering service information system will greatly help improve performance and accuracy in making reports on business processes running at a company. The existence of enterprise modeling of information systems ordering printing services with the TOGAF framework will be a method that greatly helps management make a decision that will synergize with the business process activities at the company. So that the objectives of the system can be achieved properly. The TOGAF framework can be a solution and will help to produce a system architecture design, a business process architecture, a technology architecture, a number of proposed business opportunity strategy proposals and an ongoing system change proposal.

Semarang City Public Works Department is a state-owned enterprise that works in the area of public services in the city of Semarang. Most of the technological conditions in the Public Works Department are still in manual data management, which is hampering business processes from going well. Therefore this research was conducted to design an Information System at the Semarang City Public Works Department using the Enterprise Architecture Planning (EAP) method which includes a SWOT analysis and Value Chain analysis. The existing framework in the Enterprise Architecture Planning (EAP) method can help align the data architecture and application architecture to get the expected results, which is achieving the business objectives of the City of Semarang Public Works Department so that business functions can run by the desired business processes. This research resulted in several proposals for the development of Information Systems and Information Technology in organizations including the development of several applications in the next 5 years.
