Withania somnifera is an important medicinal herb that has been widely used for the treatment of different clinical conditions. The overall medicinal properties of Withania somnifera make it a viable therapeutic agent for addressing anxiety, cancer, microbial infection, immunomodulation, and neurodegenerative disorders. Biochemical constituents of Withania somnifera like withanolide A, withanolide D, withaferin A and withaniamides play an important role in its pharmacological properties. Proteins like Withania somnifera glycoprotein and withania lectin like-protein possess potent therapeutic properties like antimicrobial, anti-snake venom poison and antimicrobial. In this review, we have tried to present different pharmacological properties associated with different extract preparations, phytochemical constituents and protein component of Withania somnifera. Future insights in this direction have also been highlighted.

Mycorrhizal inoculation in the plant causing increase in growth and production of phytochemicals is well reported, however little information is available related to the effect of mycorrhiza on morphological and biochemical properties of the medicinal plants like Ashwagandha. The present study is an attempt on diversity analysis in Withania somnifera with an aim to ascertain the nature and extent of genetic diversity present among different accessions in presence of mycorrhiza. The major biochemical constituents of Ashwaganda roots are with nolides which are well known for its medicinal properties. Mycorrhizal associations confer benefits like better nutrition acquisition, enhanced growth, defense enhancement and improved abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in plants. The present investigation was undertaken to assess genetic diversity among five different accessions of W. somnifera using morphological and biochemical markers and the effect of mycorrrhizal inoculation on these marker. The present study concluded that presence of mycorrhiza was effective on plant growth and phytochemical constituents more than non-treated plants. Amongst five selected germplasms IC 283662, JA 134, RAS 23, MPAS 6 and MWS 205 of W. somnifera, JA 134 showed best response in pretext of the selected morphological and biochemical features in presence of mycorrhiza.

Traditional medicines that are derived mainly from herbaceous plants are widely used for years in many regions of the world. Currently, the world is facing the emergence of resistant microorganisms due to the overuse and misuse of antibiotics and the lack of new drug development. In consequence, the discovery of natural phytochemicals that are safe, cheap, non-toxic, and readily available would be an acceptable alternative source. Turmeric, scientifically known as Curcuma longa, in the family of Zingiberaceae (ginger) is well known for its diverse therapeutic properties. The medicinal properties of turmeric include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-carcinogenic, cardioprotective, gastroprotective, hepatoprotective, and many more. Numerous studies have shown that curcumin (1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione), which is the most active compound of turmeric, plays a significant role as a therapeutic agent. The present article provides a brief overview of the plethora of research regarding the medicinal properties of golden spice (turmeric), specifically of curcumin's role in the treatment of various illnesses. Interestingly, turmeric might play a role in protecting COVID-19 patients against the development of lung injury caused by cytokine storms. Hence, this warrants further scientific research to monitor the anti-inflammatory effect of turmeric on SARS-CoV-2.

Medicinal plants are a reservoir of biologically active compounds with therapeutic properties that over time have been reported and used by diverse groups of people for treatment of various diseases. This review covers 15 selected medicinal plants distributed in Myanmar, including Dalbergia cultrata, Eriosema chinense, Erythrina suberosa, Millettia pendula, Sesbania grandiflora, Tadehagi triquetrum, Andrographis echioides, Barleria cristata, Justicia gendarussa, Premna integrifolia, Vitex trifolia, Acacia pennata, Cassia auriculata, Croton oblongifolius and Glycomis pentaphylla. Investigation of the phytochemical constituents, biological and pharmacological activities of the selected medicinal plants is reported. This study aims at providing a collection of publications on the species of selected medicinal plants in Myanmar along with a critical review of the literature data. As a country, Myanmar appears to be a source of traditional drugs that have not yet been scientifically investigated. This review will be support for further investigations on the pharmacological activity of medicinal plant species in Myanmar.

The fruitful utilization of shelled MO Lam. seeds as a biosorbent presents a more affordable ecologically inviting technique for the expulsion of different irresistible metals from contaminated watery media. Aside from turbidity expulsion, MO, additionally, has antibacterial properties. The aim of this review is to present a complete analysis of the traditional uses and pharmacological properties of MO. Furthermore, this review is to update wide numbers of phytochemical constituents which have been isolated from the plant, and these constituents possess several medicinal properties.

Withania somnifera (L) Dunal is commonly called as Ashwagandha/Asgand and it belongs to the family Solanaceae. It is a well known medicinal plant widely used in the treatment of many clinical conditions in Indian subcontinent. It is an important medicinal plant commonly known as Asgand which has been used either single or in combination with other drugs in Unani as well as Ayurvedic system of medicine for centuries. It has been described by Dioscorides (78 AD) in his book “Kitab-ul-Hashaish”. Asgand consists of the roots of Withania somnifera which has various therapeutic actions such as anti - inflammatory (Muhallil-e-Warm), sedative (Musakkin), aphrodisiac (Muqawwi-e-Bah), hepatoprotective, immune-modulator activity, anti-oxidant, anti-ageing, anti-tumour activity, adaptogenic activity and has anti-anticonvulsant activity. Keeping in view the medicinal properties of Withania somnifera Dunal (Asgand), an attempt has been made in this paper to explore various dimensions of the drug including phytochemical and pharmacological studies carried out on this herb.Asian J. Cassia fistula (Aragvadhah) is an important drug used in the Indian system of medicine. It is a medium sized deciduous tree with long and cylindrical fruits containing pulp and also with a bright yellow coloured flower. The tree is found throughout India in all deciduous forests and hilly tracts. The present article gives an account of updated information on its phytochemical and pharmacological properties. The review reveals that wide numbers of phytochemical constituents have been isolated from the plant which possesses activities like antiperiodic, diuretic, purgative, laxative, antiasthmatic, hepatoprotective, anti-allergic and various other important medicinal properties. Phytochemical and Pharmacological reviews on plants will give valuable information which will assist the scientists in getting more advanced knowledge about a plant species.
