The phenomenon of culture shock has some impacts on  foreigners (i.e. psychological impact and intellectual impact), especially for foreign students studying in a new country. This research  is aimed at figuring out the dominant aspects of culture shocks faced by the three Thai students studying at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang and how they cope with it. Descriptive-qualitative method was used in this research.To collect the data, the researchers used interview and questionnaire. Coding technique was used in analyzing the data. The results showed two dominant aspects of culture shocks found, namely: academic shocks (i.e teacher’s role and attitude, poorly organized program and classroom organization, and local students’ attitude). and social shocks (i.e.women-men relationship, community bonding, habits in social gathering). Generally, the three Thai students coped with the shock by preparing mental and psychology, as well as learning academic destination.

This research focuses on culture shock by Thailand students in Ponorogo with two aims: (1) to elaborate on the culture shock by Thailand students in Ponorogo. (2) to investigate the way of Thailand students in Ponorogo adjust their problem with Indonesian culture. This research used qualitative design, while the data were displayed in the forms of descriptive. The researcher took four Thailand students who are studying in Ponorogo. There are one student from Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo (UMPO), two students from University Darussalam Gontor (UNIDA), and one student from Institute Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN).  The researcher used interview and documentation as the instruments for collecting the data. The results showed that there were two problems on culture shock by Thai students in Ponorogo. The problems were: the problems about the cultural difference such as language, social manner, and religious life and the problems about life change such as food, transportation and emotion. Meanwhile, the way to adjust the culture shock in Poronogo by Thai students were: learnt and understand more about host culture, accepted the cultural difference between host culture and their culture, participated in activities related with cultural difference such as summer camp. It helped them to fast adaptation in culture and language, and joined BIPA program (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing). That made them fast adaptation in Indonesia language and also fast adaptation with cultural difference.Keywords: Culture, Thai Culture, Indonesian Culture, Culture Shock

This research describes the culture shock faced by the foreign students who study at Antasari State Islamic University Banjarmasin. Foreign students who are conscientious in this research are 7 students come from Turkey and one from Thailand. The objectives of this research are: (1) To find out the culture shocks faced by the foreign students in academic aspects; (2) To find culture shocks faced by the foreign students in social aspects. All of the data have analized by descriptive and qualitative research. The results of this research indicated that the foreign students faced culture shock in academic aspects  that consist of (1) In institutional rules: the complicated and long of procedures filling Study Plan Sheet Online, collecting of Study Plan Sheet, registrating of courses (2) The cleanliness of the university environment (3) Lecturers’ Rules which consists of discipline on the schedule the lectures, the use of local language (Banjarese) in the classes wether by lecturers or local students. Then, culture shocks in Social Aspects students faced the behavior and attitude of the local students such as talking and made jokes while lecturing, using handphones while lecturing, spitting anywhere, male and female local students’ interaction, and   the system of local public transportation.

This study was designed to examine the potential culture shock experienced by foreign students in Indonesian university. There were 10 foreign students who responded to the questionnaires sent by the writer through BIPA (Indonesian for foreigners) in international office of foreign students universities. It was found that there were three points of academic life that make foreign students experience culture shock, namely: teacher's roles and attitudes; poorly organized programs; and the local students attitudes. In social life, it was found that foreign students experienced culture shock in 3 aspects, namely: women-men relationships; different ways of thinking and different habits.

From time to time, Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) continues to grow, including BIPA at the State University of Surabaya (Unesa). It cannot be denied that in its journey, BIPA Unesa encountered various problems. One of them is a report from a foreign student who was confused when he first arrived in Surabaya. Their confusion includes finding the ideal place to live, using online motorcycle taxi applications, and using public facilities such as markets, hospitals, and police stations. Not only that, but the understanding of academic rules on campus has also not been able to be conveyed on target. Some local students and lecturers have helped, but the limited number and time have made it impossible to assist students. Therefore, this research focuses on making a pocketbook called "survival book" in five different languages ​​for foreign students. The benefits of this research are expected to be able to solve the concerns of BIPA students when they first come to Surabaya with the development of a pocketbook. This research belongs to the category of product development. With this research, it is hoped that it will produce an output in the form of a survival book for BIPA Unesa students as well as scientific articles that will be published in accredited national journals.

AbstrakDalam  penelitian  ini  akan  menjelaskan  bentuk  gegar  budaya  dan peran  serta proses komunikasi  yang  dilakukan  dalam  mengatasi gegar  budaya  yang  ada. Objek kajian yang dilakukan  adalah fenomena  gegar budaya yang terjadi pada mahasiswa asing di Universitas Tadulako. Teori akomodasi dimanfaatkan sebagai ladasan berpikir  dalam  penelitian  ini. Metode studi  kasus  dalam  menganalisis hasil  penelitian.  Hasil  dari  penelitian  ini  memperlihatkan bahwa empat  fase dalam  gegar  budaya   memperlihatkan   perbedaan   yang terlihat  dimana ada euphoria dan antusias dalam menyambut kehidupan baru dengan budaya baru. Penggunaan aksen  dan  pengucapan  dengan intonasi  yang  berbeda  menjadi kendala kultur yang tetap ada Ketika memasuki lingkungan baru. Proses adabtasi tidak  memerlukan  waktu lama  Ketika mahasiswa  asing  Universitas  Tadulako berada   pada  recovery   phase   sudah   mampu   menerima  perbedaan   dengan interaksi yang rutin dan proses komunikasi dilakukan secara efektif. Untuk memahami nilai budaya, keterampilan masing-masing individu menjadi penting, karena dengan keterampilan berkomunikasi akan menjadikan proses adabtasi, memahami budaya, dan akan mengurangi atau meminimalisir terjadinya culture shock. The object of the study is the phenomenon of culture shock that occurs in foreign students at Tadulako University.  Accommodation  theory is used as a basis for thinking  in this study. Case study method in analyzing existing research results. The results of this study indicate that the four phases in a culture shock show a visible difference where there are euphoria and enthusiasm in welcoming a new life with a new culture. The  use  of  accents  and  pronunciations  with  different  intonations  becomes  a cultural obstacle that remains when entering a new environment. The adaptation process does not take long. When foreign students of Tadulako University are in the recovery phase, they are able to accept differences with routine interactions, and the communication process is carried out effectively. To understand cultural values, the skills of each individual are important, because communication skills will make the process of adaptation, understanding culture, and will minimize the occurrence  of  culture  shock.  The  socialization  process  with  a  cultural  value pattern can be used to avoid cultural shocks.Keywords: Communication, Cultural shock, Cultural values, Cultural phenomena, Interaction

Rice is a staple food and daily routine for Malaysians. Currently, the increasing population in Malaysia has led to the need to increase rice production with more quality. Therefore,the government established a scheme with national organic standards, MS 1259: 2015 which is myOrganic certification to recognize organic farms. Koperasi ABSB is the first rice farm that obtained this certification. Thus, the aims of this study are to explore the implementation of myOrganic in Koperasi ABSB and the barriers faced by this cooperative to implementing myOrganic certification. Qualitative method is used in this case study through interviews and observation. The finding showed that the implementation of myOrganic is as follows, by register myGAP, register myOrganic, Department of Agricultural Malaysia (DOA) will send a supervisor, prepare nine files or records, perform internal and external audit, and renew myOrganic. This study is expected to increase awareness of organic farming practices and promote the implementation of myOrganic in agriculture industry especially for the new farmer who wants to register and obtain myOrganic certification.

This study aimed to describe in depth between the link of school policy and the school quality improvement. The method in this study is a qualitative method using the case study presented descriptively. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Babat Tomat Kabupaten Musi Banyuasin. Based on this study it was found that the First, free school policy can help the economy / ease the burden of school costs to be incurred by the parents. Second, the policy constraints of the application for free school educa-tion at SMAN 2 Babat Toman is not very effective, so that the students' interest is not increasing, infrastructure is one of the obstacles in the implementation of free school education, how the quality of schools will be increased if it is not supported by facilities and complete infrastructure. Third, the quality of school education free SMAN 2 Babat Toman already realized well with regard to input, input turns unselected maximum, that is the students. Fourth, the implementation of free school education in Banyuasin, the quality of school SMAN 2 Babat Toman Muba Sumsel was not increased. This means that the implementation for free school education quality of school SMAN 2 Babat Toman was not increased.Keywords : free schools, school quality, case studies

One of phenomena that occur in the educational world is the issue of discrepancies that occur between theory the pre-service teacher learned in college with implementation when they should teach in thereal fields (schools). Problem Based Learning (PBL) becomes one of the efforts to bridge the existing problems. This research is conducted to find out the extend of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Micro Teaching course since the course must be accomplished by students before carrying out practical activities in the real field in the school at teaching training program. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method. And in this research the writer uses case study as a research design to find out the purpose of the research. The participants of the the research are 8 students from a class of micro teaching course in English Department of Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati. In this paper, The Students as the Pre Service Teacher(s) are coded PST(s). The writer uses observation as the instruments of the research. Theory of Miles and Huberman are used to collect data from observation. Regarding to the discussion above, the four aspects of competences of effective teacher are shown in the teaching practice done by the students of Micro teaching course that apply Problem Based Learning (PBL). The majority results of the observation explain that applying Problem Based Learning in Micro Teaching course develops pre-service teachers competence in their teaching in classroom. This research shows pre-service teachers can integrate their competences and create good performance in their teaching practice.

This research is intended to search and information about the strengthening of Islamic religious education (PAI) through the recitation of furudhul Ainiyah which is carried out in Nurul Jadid Paiton Junior High School. The method of this research is by qualitative method with case study method, to express. That is more intense and deep with the above phenomenon. Technique of completion of data and information is done through interview, observation, study study, and literature study. The findings of this research are 1). Students or students are required to complete the recitation of Furudhul Ainiyah as a condition to take the odd semester and even semester exam and become a requirement for class and graduation increase. 2). the implementation of the furudhul Ainiyah memorization is performed on Thursday and Friday nights and Tuesday nights, and can also be done during normal day breaks, 3). The responsible and recipient of the rote deposit are PAI teachers and their homeroom teachers, 4). For students and students who can not read written Al-qur'an is not subject to rote burden, but get special coaching related to Al-Qur'an reading written by the religious coordinator of students. 5). Memory materials include Aqidah, Fiqih or Amaliyah materials, and daily prayers for students of VII and VIII semerter 1 and 2, while for classes IX semesters 1 and 2 cover the material of the Qur'an and Fiqh. 6).
