From time to time, Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) continues to grow, including BIPA at the State University of Surabaya (Unesa). It cannot be denied that in its journey, BIPA Unesa encountered various problems. One of them is a report from a foreign student who was confused when he first arrived in Surabaya. Their confusion includes finding the ideal place to live, using online motorcycle taxi applications, and using public facilities such as markets, hospitals, and police stations. Not only that, but the understanding of academic rules on campus has also not been able to be conveyed on target. Some local students and lecturers have helped, but the limited number and time have made it impossible to assist students. Therefore, this research focuses on making a pocketbook called "survival book" in five different languages ​​for foreign students. The benefits of this research are expected to be able to solve the concerns of BIPA students when they first come to Surabaya with the development of a pocketbook. This research belongs to the category of product development. With this research, it is hoped that it will produce an output in the form of a survival book for BIPA Unesa students as well as scientific articles that will be published in accredited national journals.

Рассматривается вопрос преподавания русского языка как иностранного в техническом вузе России. Актуальность темы обусловлена ростом числа иностранных студентов в российских вузах и необходимостью скорейшего овладения ими русским языком. Описаны особенности изучения русской научной лексики, терминологического аппарата технических дисциплин, в частности языка математики, иностранными студентами, обучающимися на подготовительном отделении Томского государственного архитектурно-строительного университета. Проведен лингвистический эксперимент, в ходе которого студентам был предложен диктант, изобилующий научной лексикой; описаны результаты, а также нарушения произношения и написания терминов, так как главную трудность представляет именно изучение лексики научного стиля речи. Выявлены и описаны, структурированы особенности отступлений от нормы, предложены варианты работы по реализации программы отработки навыков нормативного письма иностранными студентами. Достаточно трудным является определение границы слова, написание букв в конце слова, восприятие шипящих согласных, парных согласных по глухости/звонкости, мягкости/твердости; определение рода имен существительных (в большинстве языков народов бывшего Советского Союза нет категории рода). В связи с этим возникает необходимость тщательно продумывать типы упражнений в соответствии с потребностью учащихся и их последовательность. The issue of teaching Russian as a foreign language in a technical university in Russia is considered. The relevance is due both to the increase in the number of foreign students in Russian universities and the need for them to master the Russian language as soon as possible in order to continue their studies in Russian. The aim of the work is to describe the features of mastering Russian scientific vocabulary, the terminology of technical disciplines, in particular, the language of mathematics by foreign students studying at the preparatory department of the Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Building). A linguistic experiment was carried out, when students were offered to write a dictation, replete with scientific vocabulary. The results, as well as violations of pronunciation and spelling of terms have been described, since the main difficulty is precisely the study of the vocabulary of the scientific style of speech. The peculiarities of deviations from the standard were also identified, structured, and described. Options for the implementation of the program for the development of normative writing skills by foreign students were proposed. Rather difficult is the definition of the word boundary, writing letters at the end of a word, the perception of hissing consonants, paired consonants (unvoiced – voiced), soft – hard; determination of the gender of a noun (in most languages of the former Soviet Union there is no category of gender). This requires the necessity of elaborate thinking over the exercise types and their sequence in accordance with students’ needs. This work continues a series of methodical publications, the main aim of which is improving the quality of foreign student education in technical universities of Russia.

Abstract: This study aims to explain the application of reading skills teaching materials to BIPA students at IAIN Surakarta. In addition, this study will also explain the analysis of the needs of teaching materials for foreign student reading skills at IAIN Surakarta. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, which is a method that tries to describe the object in a real and real way. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation and distributing questionnaires to parties involved in learning reading skills at the BIPA IAIN Surakarta institute. The results of this study indicate that learning Indonesian for foreign speakers at IAIN Surakarta applies teaching material from the Center for Strategic and Diplomacy Development (PPSDK) namely Indonesian Friends, and still retains its Islamic characteristics by providing Islamic values to foreign students. Analysis of teaching material requirements on reading skills at BIPA IAIN Basic level Surakata are classified as follows, age, national origin, final education, prospective profession, language mastered, ability to speak Indonesian. In addition, the analysis of teaching material needs on reading skills includes several aspects, namely, aspects of material content, presentation aspects, and language aspects.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplanasikan penerapan bahan ajar keterampilan membaca pada mahasiswa BIPA di IAIN Surakarta. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga akan menjelaskan analisis kebutuhan bahan ajar keterampilan membaca mahasiswa Asing di IAIN Surakarta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, yakni metode yang mencoba menjelaskan objek secara nyata dan apa adanya. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan menyebarkan angket kepada pihak yang terlibat dalam pembelajaran keterampilan membaca di lembaga BIPA IAIN Surakarta. Hasil dari penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia bagi penutur Asing di IAIN Surakarta menerapkan bahan ajar dari Pusat Pengembangan Strategi dan Diplomasi Kebahasaan (PPSDK) yakni Sahabatku Indonesia, dan tetap mempertahankan ciri khas keislamannya dengan memberikan nilai-nilai keislaman kepada mahasiswa Asing. Analisis kebutuhan bahan ajar pada keterampilan membaca di BIPA IAIN Surakata tingkat dasar diklasifikasikan sebagai berikut, usia, asal negara, pendidikan terakhir, calon profesi, bahasa yang dikuasai, kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia. Selain itu analisis kebutuhan bahan ajar pada keterampilan membaca meliputi beberapa aspek yaitu, aspek isi materi, aspek penyajian, dan aspek bahasa.

This research describes the culture shock faced by the foreign students who study at Antasari State Islamic University Banjarmasin. Foreign students who are conscientious in this research are 7 students come from Turkey and one from Thailand. The objectives of this research are: (1) To find out the culture shocks faced by the foreign students in academic aspects; (2) To find culture shocks faced by the foreign students in social aspects. All of the data have analized by descriptive and qualitative research. The results of this research indicated that the foreign students faced culture shock in academic aspects  that consist of (1) In institutional rules: the complicated and long of procedures filling Study Plan Sheet Online, collecting of Study Plan Sheet, registrating of courses (2) The cleanliness of the university environment (3) Lecturers’ Rules which consists of discipline on the schedule the lectures, the use of local language (Banjarese) in the classes wether by lecturers or local students. Then, culture shocks in Social Aspects students faced the behavior and attitude of the local students such as talking and made jokes while lecturing, using handphones while lecturing, spitting anywhere, male and female local students’ interaction, and   the system of local public transportation.

This article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of adaptation of foreign students to the learning process in Russian universities. Adaptation of students to the University is considered as a process of their adaptation to the conditions of the University, to new methods and forms of education, to the norms of the student body and to future professional activities. Foreign students are representatives of different cultures and, in this regard, may differ greatly from Russian young people, so the process of their adaptation has its own characteristics. This point is very important for University teachers to understand and take into account. How the process of adaptation of a foreign student will take place depends on the effectiveness of his/her education at the University, mastering the future profession. The success of adaptation is determined by many objective and subjective factors. The language barrier was identified as one of the main difficulties for foreign students: more than half of the students of the Yakovlev state University have great difficulties communicating in Russian. The process of adaptation of students is influenced by the level of development of adaptability. In the course of the research, the diagnostics of foreign students' adaptability was carried out, for this purpose, the methods "self-Assessment of psychological adaptability" and "Assessment of emotional and activity adaptability" were used. The research was conducted at the I.Ya. Yakovlev Chuvash state pedagogical University. After processing and analyzing the results, the author concludes that the adaptability of most students is at a low level of development. At the same time, there are more girls with low socio-psychological adaptation than boys. In addition, a method was conducted aimed at studying the level of students ' anxiety. The analysis of the data showed that there is a link between the level of anxiety and the level of adaptability: the higher the anxiety indicators, the lower the adaptability indicators. In conclusion, it is concluded that more than half of foreign students experience difficulties related to adaptation to higher education.

The phenomenon of culture shock has some impacts on  foreigners (i.e. psychological impact and intellectual impact), especially for foreign students studying in a new country. This research  is aimed at figuring out the dominant aspects of culture shocks faced by the three Thai students studying at Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang and how they cope with it. Descriptive-qualitative method was used in this research.To collect the data, the researchers used interview and questionnaire. Coding technique was used in analyzing the data. The results showed two dominant aspects of culture shocks found, namely: academic shocks (i.e teacher’s role and attitude, poorly organized program and classroom organization, and local students’ attitude). and social shocks (i.e.women-men relationship, community bonding, habits in social gathering). Generally, the three Thai students coped with the shock by preparing mental and psychology, as well as learning academic destination.

В статье рассмотрены лингвометодические аспекты, связанные с обучением студентов-иностранцев (инофонов) русскому языку как иностранному на продвинутом уровне на примере работы с текстами А. И. Солженицына. Художественные тексты писателя изобилуют индивидуально-авторскими единицами, созданными по неизвестной или знакомой в современном русском языке модели. Подчеркивается, что сложность обучения инофонов русскому языку на базе художественных текстов А. И. Солженицына вызвана необходимостью самому преподавателю в полном объеме владеть тонкостями стиля писателя. Лингвистический аспект данной статьи позволяет осознать специфику структурного состава индивидуально-авторских единиц А. И. Солженицына. В рамках методического аспекта подобные слова с измененным правописанием или семантической природой расширяют кругозор студента-иностранца, повышая не только уровень его владения русском языком, но и культурный уровень в целом. Активизируются широкие возможности для общения со студенческой аудиторией и преподавателями, а также для наиболее полного понимания всех коннотативных признаков коммуникативной ситуации. Нами выявлено, что при создании индивидуально-авторских единиц прослеживается определенная поэтапность, которая может быть положена в основу разработки ряда приемов обучения, отражающих факт поэтапной концептуализации в сознании студентов-иностранцев значимых особенностей менталитета русскоговорящих людей - носителей языка. The article deals with the linguistic and methodological aspects related to teaching foreign students Russian as a foreign language at an advanced level by the example of working with the texts by A. I. Solzhenitsyn. Literary texts of the writer abound in individual author units created according to an unknown or familiar model. It is emphasized that the complexity of teaching Russian to foreign speakers based on the texts by A. I. Solzhenitsyn is caused by the need for the teacher to fully master the subtleties of the style of A. I. Solzhenitsyn. The linguistic aspect of this article allows us to get into the specifics of the structural composition of the individual author’s constructions of A. I. Solzhenitsyn. Within the methodological aspect, such words with a changed spelling or a changed semantic nature expand the horizons of a foreign student, increasing not only the level of Russian language proficiency, but also the cultural level in general, giving a foreign student greater opportunities not only to communicate with the student audience and teachers, but also to better understand all the connotative signs of a communicative situation. We found that when creating individual author units, there is a certain step-by-step approach, which can be used as a basis for developing a number of teaching methods that reflect the fact of step-by-step conceptualization in the minds of foreign students of significant features of the mentality of Russian native speakers.

This study was designed to examine the potential culture shock experienced by foreign students in Indonesian university. There were 10 foreign students who responded to the questionnaires sent by the writer through BIPA (Indonesian for foreigners) in international office of foreign students universities. It was found that there were three points of academic life that make foreign students experience culture shock, namely: teacher's roles and attitudes; poorly organized programs; and the local students attitudes. In social life, it was found that foreign students experienced culture shock in 3 aspects, namely: women-men relationships; different ways of thinking and different habits.

In the era of globalization, Russian universities face an acute problem of participating in a single global educational space and exporting educational services for training specialists from different countries Russian language training for foreign specialists who are fluent in Russian and are able to teach Russian abroad is of particular importance and relevance in this regard. The article is devoted to educational products provided by the graduating Department of Russian as a foreign language of the Transbaikal state University in the conditions of competition of Russian universities for a foreign student during the pandemic. The relevance of the problem is confirmed by numerous scientific studies, which analyze both the presence of exports of Russian educational services, and the place and specifics of hotel universities in the export of educational services. The aim of the study is to analyze the educational services of the Transbaikal state University, provided by educational programs producing the Russian as a Foreign Language department, as well as the prospects for the development of educational programs during the pandemic. Analysis of the educational programs of the Transbaikal State University, exported issuing Department RCTS showed that the educational product is a coherent and consistent system of educational programs, which allows to education of foreign citizens at all stages of study at the University. The author notes the strategies for the development of the educational activities of the Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which are aimed at improving the competitiveness and quality of the educational product in the international market of educational services in the post-pandemic period. In order to achieve the goal and solve the problems, methods of analysis and observation were used, which allowed to determine the direction and prospects of the development of international educational programs in the city, to identify new challenges for the effective export of educational services and how to solve them. The article analyzes the programs of educational and cultural nature, which are used in the practical activities of American higher educational institutions during the foreign students’ adaptive training. The aim of the article is to study these programs to formulate a potential direction for the development of the system of foreign students’ adaptive training in the HEIs of Ukraine. It is emphasized that the cultural training of representatives of other countries is an important component of the formation of competence of interpersonal interaction. However, the most effective is to use the cultural and educational programs simultaneously, which will allow to perform a rapid transition from the theoretical component to the practical and vice versa. The areas of educational and cultural nature that should be implemented to the Ukrainian educational space of foreign students’ adaptive training are picked out. These areas include: the formation of communication skills with help of discussion groups using, which allow to improve foreign student’ language skills and to conduct an informal communication with representatives of other countries, as well as the students of the host country; application of programs that provide historical and social immersion of foreign students to a new culture, that will reveal the distinctive features of their cultural characteristics and, thus, to accept the differences of the host country, which is necessary for overcoming the effects of culture shock; involvement of foreign students to the preparation of traditional holidays of the host country, which will help to get acquainted with the cultural features of the new society; organization of general education activities where foreign students can get the theoretical information about the host country, hold the discussions with experts and other students and, subsequently, extrapolate this knowledge to the practical flatness during the joint trips, etc.; attracting the foreign senior students who have overcome the effects of culture shock as an experts, because they can explain to the students who have entered the educational institution, what difficulties they will have to face and how the most effectively adapt to the features of the new socio-cultural space.

Hal itu dapat dilakukan melalui strategi kebudayaan.Strategi kebudayaan yang dapat dilakukan dalam mengenalkan Indonesia dalampembelajaran BIPA adalah melalui pengenalan budaya lokal yang menjadi ujung tombakdari kebudayaan Indonesia. Kebudayaan lokal yang hidup dalam masyarakat setempatmemberi kesempatan bagi orang asing untuk melihat dan memahami kekayaan budayaIndonesia yang beragam. Tulisan ini bertujuan mengetahui pengetahuan dasar mahasiswaasing terhadap budaya Sunda dan bagaimana respon mereka dengan dijadikannya budayaSunda sebagai bagian dari pembelajaran BIPA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitiandeskriptif dengan pemerolehan data melalui kuesioner dan referensi kepustakaan. This can be done through a culturalstrategy. The cultural strategy that can be done in introducing Indonesia in BIPA learning isthrough the introduction of local culture that is the spearhead of Indonesian culture. Local culture hat lives in local communities provides opportunities for foreigners to see and understand Indonesia’s diverse cultural richness. This paper aims to find out the basic knowledge of foreign students towards Sundanese culture and how they respond to the use of Sundanese culture as part of BIPA learning. This research is a descriptive study by obtaining data through questionnaires and literature references. The results show that the introduction of aspects of local culture, in this case Sundanese culture, in the teaching of BIPA is a major need for foreigners to survive and adapt in the socio-cultural environment in which they live and build understanding in cross-cultural relations. Therefore, the things that are important for foreigners are the local culture that is directly affected in their daily lives in Indonesia.Keywords: Sundanese culture, BIPA teaching, response, foreigners, cross-cultural
