Using YouTube as media is one of the ways to teach speaking. Using YouTube as media help students to be better independent English speaker and makes the students easier in learning English. The main purpose of the study is to examine the effectiveness of using YouTube as media on students’ speaking score of the eleventh grade IIS-2. Quantitative was selected as a research approach, whereas the research design used was Quasi Experimental by using posttest-only design. This research used two classes which became experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught speaking using YouTube as media, while the control group was taught using picture as media. To collect the data, post speaking tests in experimental and control group were administered. Data were analyzed by using t-test. The findings indicated that score of the experimental group higher than the control group. Thus, it can be concluded that using YouTube as media in teaching speaking is effective.

Using Padlet as media is one of the ways to teach writing. Using Padlet as media help students make the students more excited in writing. The main purpose of the study is to examine the effectiveness of using Padlet as media on students’ writing score of the tenth grade IIS-1. Quantitative was selected as a research approach, whereas the research design used was Quasi Experimental by using posttest-only design. This research used two classes which became experimental and control class. The experimental class was taught writing by using Padlet as media, while the control class was taught without any media. To collect the data, post writing tests in experimental and control group were administered. Data were analyzed by using t-test. The findings indicated that score of the experimental class higher than the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that using Padlet as media in teaching writing is effective.

The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying SQ3R method inreading comprehension. Experimental research design is used as the research method.This research took place at SMA Nasrani 2Medan. There were 2 classes chosen as thesample with 30 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namelyexperimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using SQ3Rmethod and the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrumentused to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test andpost test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The resultshowed that t-test was higher than t-table (4,23>2,00) at the level of significant 0,05with degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is acceptedwhich shows that SQ3R method significantly improves the student’s readingcomprehension.

The problem of this study is “Does Concept Oriented Reading Instruction (CORI) enhance students’ reading achievement?” The design of this study was quasi-experimental. The sample of this study was taken from the population by using purposive sampling. The experimental group consisted of 39 students while the control group consisted of 35 students. The data were collected by using two instruments; test and questionnaire. The test was given twice to each group in order to see whether or not there was significance difference of pretest and posttest either in experimental or control group and whether or not there was significance difference of experimental and control group in terms of their posttest score. To prove the hypothesis, the data from pretest and posttest of experimental and control group were analyzed by applying paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The calculation was run by using SPSS computer program. The result of the study shows there was significance difference of students’ reading achievement between experimental and control group. Besides, the use of CORI as reading strategies was proved as effective reading strategies to enhance students’ reading achievement. In learning foreign language such as English, a learner should have motivationin  order  to  have  willingness  to  learn.  This  study  is  an  attempt  to  investigate  thestudents’ motivation in learning English by using Hangman Game. And this study wasto find out if the use of Hangman game motivates the students in learning English. Themethod  used  in  this  study  was  quantitative  with  experimental  research  design.  Thetarget population of this study was the eighth grade students of MTs Negeri Cirebon 1.The writer took two classes as samples and the number of the samples was 36 students.The  samples  were  divided  into  experimental  group  and  control  group.  There  are  tworesearch  instruments  which  were  used  to  collect  data.  They  were  questionnaire  andobservation. The result analysis of observation showed that the students in experimentalgroup  had  higher  motivation  than  in  control  group.  Meanwhile,  the  calculation  of  thevalue  of  the  questionnaire  showed  that  there  were  significant  differences  betweenexperimental group and control group. The result of taccount was 2,44 while the result ofttable was  1,994.  It  was  mean  that  the  value  of  taccount (2,44)  >  ttable (1,994).  So,hypotheses  alternative  (Ha)  was  accepted  or  the  use  of  Hangman  game  motivate  thestudents in learning English to eighth grade students of MTs Negeri Cirebon 1.

This study aimed to answer whether using chessboard technique in responding to short story develops student’s speaking skill or not. The method used in this study was one of the quasi-experimental designs: pretest-posttest non-equivalent comparison control group design. The population of the study was the eleventh-grade student at SMA N 12Palembang and the sample were taken from the population by using purposive sampling. The data were collected by using two instruments, test and questionnaire. The test wasgiven twice to the experimental and control group, as the pretest and the posttest. Thequestionnaire was distributed to the experimental group after conducting the treatment to get more information related to the problem of the study. To verify the hypothesis, thedata from pretest and posttest on the experimental and control group were analyzed byusing paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The result of the study showed that applying chessboard technique in responding to the short story develops student’s speaking skills. Some students (60%) in the experimental group achieve good category compared to only a few students (20%) in control group.

The aim of the research was to analyze whether there is any effectiveness of online game in teaching vocabulary of the first grade of MTsN 1 Kediri. This research was quantitative research approach, the research design was  quasy experimental by non equivalent group posttest-only. This research used two classes which became experimental group (VII C) and control group (VII E). The experimental group was taught by using online game, whereas control group was taught without online game. The instruments used in the research was multiple choice test. The procedures of using online game in teaching vocabulary are; preparation, main activities and post activity. The reasearch took 4 meetings and 1 meeting to do test. The result is online game in teaching vocabulary is effective. It can be proven by the result of t-test: the mean score of experimental group (M = 88.29) was higher than control group (M = 83.92), and independent-samples t-test which values of the sig. 2-tailed was 0.29% or 0.029 and 0.029 < 0,05. This result suggests that the use of media online game in teaching vocabulary is interesting way to learn English.

The objective of this study was to investigate whether video significantly affected on students’ achievement in writing procedure text. This study was an experimental research design. The population of this study was grade XI students of SMA Swasta Sinar Harapan Lubuk Pakam with 70 students as samples who were divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using video, while the control group was taught by without video. The instrument of collecting data was essay tests. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis showed that tvalue is higher than ttable (4.79 > 2.00) at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 68. It implies that video is appropriate to be applied for writing procedure text.

This research is a quasi-experimental aims to identify the effect of problem-based learning model using virtual simulation media towards the students’ concept mastery and creativity in physics. The design of this research used of non-equivalent control group design, while the sampling technique used purposive sampling. The population of this research is all students of grade X SMAN 2 Mataram, while the sampling are the students of grade X-3 as the experimental group and the students of grade X-4 as control group. The data obtained in this research is  data mastery of concept and creativity. The research hypothesis was tested using t-test polled variances. The test result showed that the N-gain mastery of concepts has increased in each sub material and the highest increase in the sub matter theory of electromagnetic waves. Values of N-gain experimental group in the high category (71%) and control group in the medium category (53%). T-test showed that the model is applied to significant influence on improving students’ mastery of concepts and creativity, higher in the experimental group compared with the control group. Increased figural creativity higher than verbal creativity in both classes

This research discussed how the use herringbone technique  to improve the students’ ability in reading. This research used quasi experimental design that applied a pre-test and post-test design. The data was analyzed by using t-test. The population of this research was the eight year students of SMP Negeri 9 Parepare in academic year 2013/2014. There were two classes, a class for experimental class and a class for control class. It utilized cluster random sampling technique. The number of each class was 30 students. The instrument used in this research was reading test use of herringbone technique in learning reading. The result of this research was a significant difference between experimental group and control group. This indicates the mean score of the post-test of experimental group was 97 while that of the control group was 92. Moreover, the t-test value (7,24) was higher than t-table value (2.021). In other words, Hypothesis Alternative (H1) was accepted and Hypothesis Null (H0) was rejected. This means that Using Herringbone technique can improve the students’ reading comprehension by using herringbone technique.

Iraqi grade five pupils often lack proficiency in fractions and lack motivation in learning fractions through the conventional method of teaching. Research has shown that the concrete-representational-abstract (CRA) module helps primary pupils to learn fractions and give them better motivation to learn fractions. The study employed a quasi-experimental research design and two intact grade five classes from an Iraqi school in KL, Malaysia were randomly assigned to the experimental group and control group respectively. The results showed that there was a significant difference in proficiency in fractions and motivation in learning fractions between the groups and favoring the CRA module.
