- (Paper first received, April 2009; in final form, July 2009) The paper deals with the changing features of regional development in the last decades and the changing research approach to them, seeking to identify the contributions of Italian scholars to the international debate. The ‘regional development divide' of the 1970s induced Italian scholars to shift to analysis of new models of productive organisation underlying the active role of the territory in the development process. A crucial role was played by the model of industrial districts, which stressed that development can be achieved on the basis of SMEs and on specific local resources. The paper also deals with the ‘local productive systems' determined by a close interaction between economy, society and territory which produces external economies and collective efficiency. The paper concludes by drawing some policy lessons for backward regions. Keywords: local system, industrial district, endogenous development, external economiesJEL Classification: O18, O20, O30, R12, R58

This article discusses two important studies. First, the way the Kalibeber Wonosobo community handles waste. Second, the model of waste management in the Kalibeber Wonosobo group. This research uses a Participatory Action Research approach. This approach involves the Kalibeber community as an object and subject as well as to deal with waste. The results of this study show two important scopes. First, the Kalibeber Wonosobo community has an initiative to deal with waste. The initiative emerged because the community felt the environment was dirty, the river water flow was obstructed, and many sufferers of itching. Second, the waste management model uses decentralization. Waste management is carried out in each sub-area to be able to reuse waste (recycling). This discourse is different from other studies. The most prominent differentiating side is the active role of the community by being able to separate organic and inorganic waste. The community operates independently with a voluntary financing mechanism.Artikel ini membahas dua kajian penting. Pertama, cara masyarakat Kalibeber Wonosobo menangani sampah. Kedua, model pengelolaan sampah kelompok paguyuban peduli sampah Kalibeber Wonosobo.

"ABSTRACT. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of religious tourism in sustainable development and to find effective strategies through marketing optics and methodology. The issue of religious tourism is a topical one and not without controversy. Romanian tourism is currently facing many problems, such as: reduced turnover, very frequent changes in the legal framework, very rigid labor market, a deficient infrastructure in quantity and quality, repeated changes in the behavior of economic agents and population, an unfavorable economic environment. To achieve this goal, qualitative research was conducted among tourism producers, intermediaries and tourists in the Neamţ region - one of the most important tourist areas in Romania and also an important region with religious and rural tourism destinations. The results showed that there is a special concern regarding religious tourism and could contribute to the local development of the area. The use of tourism as a driver of economic development is widely acknowledged. In New Zealand and internationally, tourism is used overtly as a mechanism by which governments are able to address a variety of national, regional and local development objectives. In this paper, we present a critique of recent responses in New Zealand to the task of guiding tourism development from a strategic and collaborative sustainable development perspective. As argued in this paper, the roles and responsibilities of government in tourism were reinvented during the 1980s and 1990s. These changes, inspired by a neo-liberal political ideology to deregulate the New Zealand economy and to restructure the state sector and local government, ultimately included the tourism sector. More recently, however, public sector policy initiatives indicate a shift towards a more pro-active role for the local state (local and regional government) in managing tourism development. This shift, informed by a New Regionalism policy framework, anticipates a devolved tourism planning mandate that fosters longer-term strategic and collaborative planning of the sector in order to enhance the contribution of tourism to sustainable community wellbeing. We reflect on the likely effectiveness of a devolved tourism planning mandate and interrogate the role and potential of tourism to contribute to regional development, as framed by the political philosophies of the New Regionalism.

Abstract - This study aims to analyze the development of wonosobo district sports which is seen from the role of elementary school. This research is included in the type of public policy analysis research with a qualitative research approach. Where data collection techniques use observation, interview, document study and policy analysis techniques using the exercise development program implementation index. The results showed that the index value was not so high, it showed that the role of physical education at the elementary school level in Wonososbo Regency had not been implemented well, of course because of the lack of active role of schools in increasing the hobby of exercising from an early age, this had an impact on the lack of sports human resources in the long run. The conclusion of this study is that Wonosobo Regency is still in the low category because the total human resource index of Wosnosobo Regency is still below the national index number.

Life that comes from food must inevitably be fulfilled, the involvement of the local economy will inevitably bring serious challenges. So it is reasonable to say that globalization will bring benefits if the response of national and local governments can properly mobilize local resources. The resources that are owned in relation to farming groups cannot be separated from the role of local governments in efforts to improve a decent life for farmers and the farming groups themselves. The research was carried out at the Food Crops, Horticulture and Plantation Service of Sorong Regency against the Farmers Group in Salawati District from June to September 2020. This research used descriptive methods by survey and cross sectional methods which used samples from the Department of Agriculture and farming groups in the District. Salawati. The analysis used is a Likert scale and a frequency table. Based on the results of the analysis, the role of the Agricultural Instructor as Motivator, Facilitator, Communicator and Innovator is in the very good category, while the participation of farmers in the role of the Dinas is in the Good category. Thus the suggestion that is conveyed is the active role of every institution involved both as extension workers and farmers who are pro-active in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. This score or number will be at 100 percent if all parties can carry out the function properly.

- (Paper first received, March 2009; in final form, June 2009) The paper reviews the contributions made by Italian regionalists to the debate on the role of knowledge, technical change, and innovation in regional development in the last thirty years. The results show that Italian scholars have given seminal contributions from the theoretical point of view, as well as providing strong empirical evidence in support of their theses. Many topics have been analysed and successfully developed by Italian regionalists (among others, functional deficit, innovative milieux, collective learning, and territorial competition). However, their most original contribution has been to draw a clear-cut distinction between space and territory, with material factors, more than physical proximity alone, playing a significant role in innovation at regional level. Keywords: knowledge, innovation and territorial developmentJEL Classification: R10, R11

The construction of victims’ collective memory in post-conflict Colombia is crucial to understanding the violent past and its social consequences. This article argues that victims’ initiatives, such as the March of Light, are facilitating an active role of local communities in the configuration of their memory regimes after the war. Addressing a participative action research approach, this article’s significance rests in the idea that Colombian victims’ groups from Eastern Antioquia are establishing three particular types of collective memory developing the March of Light every week. It establishes that this effort is a powerful instrument to claim truth and reparation in Colombia, helping the ongoing process of transitional justice in the country. It demonstrates that the tension between official and non-official narratives of collective memory is an essential part of transitional justice scenarios in which the clash of values defines positions of power, visibility and recognition inside contexts of social transition.

Herbal medicine (HM) is one of the most widely used Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapies throughout the world. The WHO has recognized HM as an essential component of primary healthcare. The aim of this study was to explore patients' attitudes towards using HM, their sources of information and the role of costs. Within a qualitative research approach, semi-standardized interviews with 18 patients using HM were conducted and analyzed according to Mayring's content analysis. Patients highlighted their active role and perceived autonomy choosing HM. Most interviewees experienced HM as better, with more sustainable effects and fewer side effects compared to conventional medicine. All media, family, friends, and healthcare professionals were reported as sources of information. Some patients complained that doctors and pharmacists have insufficient knowledge of HM. Most patients expressed their regret that HM is not reimbursed by statutory health insurances but also their general willingness to pay extra for HM. The main challenge for German primary care, besides the reintroduction of reimbursement, is the promotion of knowledge and skill development in HM. This is to ensure patient safety and work in partnership with patients. Appropriate strategies for education must be tailored to the specific needs of health professional groups.
