High School teachers in Japan are sending very busy days on their daily works including teaching, support for the club activities and deskwork. Among them, they share a lot of time for managing the club actives of students compared with other countries. In that area, professionals can make instruction much better than teachers for the special sports like Judo and Kendo (Japanese fencing) etc. School Social Worker can coordinate the professionals out of school and can help teachers by decreasing their burden on that area. There are few related papers concerning the support of club activities by utilizing the professionals outside. In this paper, a questionnaire investigation is executed to the five High Schools at Miyagi Prefecture in Japan in order to clarify their current condition and their consciousness, and to seek the possibility of utilizing school social worker for their support. Fundamental statistical analysis and Non-Parametric Test Analysis are performed. As for Q2”Consciousness for the daily works” and its related analysis, Null Hypotheses were rejected for 6 cases out of 60. As for Q3”Consciousness for guiding the club activities” and its related analysis, Null Hypotheses were rejected for 5 cases out of 48. Various cases should be investigated here after.

Teacher effectiveness is a matter of the degree to which a teacher achieves the desired effects upon students. Teacher effectiveness is defined as, the extent to which the teacher possesses the requisite knowledge and skills, and teacher performance as the way a teacher behaves in the process of teaching (Dunkin, 1997). It is considered as the teacher’s effect on the students as the level of learning been done by teachers and students learn and the period to reach as the level understood by the students from the teacher. Objectives: the present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between personality and teacher effectiveness of High School Teachers in Gulbarga. Method: purposive sampling method was used to select samples from 58 high school teachers of Government Schools in Gulbarga Corporation and survey method was used to collect data by administering NEO-Five Factor Inventory (McCrae and Costa, 1936) and Teacher Effectiveness Scale (Kulsum, 2000) with personal data sheet and the data were analyzed using correlation, t-test and ANOVA methods. Result: the findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between extraversion personality trait and teacher effectiveness(r=0.28; p<0.05), especially with dimension knowledge of subject matter of teacher effectiveness(r=0.29; p<0.05) and teacher character dimension(r=0.34; p<0.01) as well as agreeableness personality trait and interpersonal relationship dimension (r=0.27; p<0.05), whereas it was found that there was no significant relationship between teacher effectiveness and personality traits of openness to experience(r=0.05), neuroticism(r=-0.22) and conscientiousness(r=0.18). Experienced teachers are significantly higher in teacher effectiveness than less experienced teachers (F=3.66; p<0.05).

Knowledge of genomics is an essential component of science for high school student health literacy. However, few high school teachers have received genomics training or any guidance on how to teach the subject to their students. This project explored the impact of a genomics and bioinformatics research pipeline for high school teachers and students using an introduction to genome annotation research as the catalyst. The Western New York-based project had three major components: (1) a summer teacher professional development workshop to introduce genome annotation research, (2) teacher-guided student genome annotation group projects during the school year, (3) with an end of the academic year capstone symposium to showcase student work in a poster session. Both teachers and students performed manual gene annotations using an online annotation toolkit known as Genomics Education National Initiative-Annotation Collaboration Toolkit (GENI-ACT), originally developed for use in a college undergraduate teaching environment. During the school year, students were asked to evaluate the data they had collected, formulate a hypothesis about the correctness of the computer pipeline annotation, and present the data to support their conclusions in poster form at the symposium. Evaluation of the project documented increased content knowledge in basic genomics and bioinformatics as well as increased confidence in using tools and the scientific process using GENI-ACT, thus demonstrating that high school students are capable of using the same tools as scientists to conduct a real-world research task.

More than 1.5 million students experienced homelessness in the 2017-18 school year, but teachers receive little guidance on how to support them. Earl Edwards provides K-12 (particularly high school) teachers with an overview of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and concrete recommendations for how to better support youth experiencing homelessness in their pursuit to graduate high school. The recommendations are derived from a study that analyzed the experiences of 10 youth who experienced homelessness as high school students in Los Angeles County.

In our globalized society, understanding emotions and developing resilience can help us move adeptly through the current challenges and future ones.  Emotional intelligence is the capacity of individuals to understand their emotions and those of other people.  It is an ability to label and adjust emotions appropriately, use and manage behavior and relationships, and help them adapt to environments. On the other hand, resilience refers to an individual's capacity to maintain and renew themselves, particularly in the presence of stressors; that is, they can withstand stressors without manifesting psychological dysfunction. Teaching is regarded as among the most stressful jobs today.  Knowing how to cope despite setbacks or barriers, or limited resources is a must for teachers; otherwise, they will easily quit or give up. Hence, the paper describes the level of emotional intelligence and resilience of high school teachers of a Diocesan Catholic School in Antique during the School Year 2019-2020. Additionally, it measures the differences in the level of emotional intelligence and resilience when grouped according to demographic variables. The study also explores the relationship between emotional intelligence and resilience of teachers.
