The objectives of this study were: (1) to describe the implementation of STAR (Select, Teach, Activate and Revisit) strategy of the eighth grade students of MTs N 1 Bangka, and (2) to find out whether there was any significant difference in vocabulary mastery between the students who were taught by using STAR strategy and the students who were taught without STAR strategy. This study was focused on vocabulary mastery. The total number of sample was 64 students. In this study, the researcher used experimental research method with a quasi-experimental design. The result showed that the students’ vocabulary mastery significantly increased. It could be seen from the pre-test and post-test mean score. Furthermore, the result of independent sample t-test of students’ post-test between experimental group and control group showed that the t-obtained was higher than t-table (2.547 > 2.00) and the p-output was lower than computation with level significant 0.05 (0.014 < 0.05). It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It could be concluded that STAR strategy was effective to increase students’ vocabulary mastery.

The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not there was significant improvement in writing and speaking achievements of the eighth grade students of SMPN1 Jarai after they were taught by using Sociogram, to find out whether or not there was significant improvement in each aspect of writing and speaking achievements of the eighth grade students of SMPN1 Jarai after they were taught by using Sociogram, to find out whether or not there was significant difference in writing and speaking achievements between the eighth grade students of SMP 1 Jarai who were taught by using Sociogram and those who were not, and to find out the perception of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Jarai after they were taught by using Socoiogram. In this paper, an experimental research method with pre and post test control group design was used with 70 students as the sample divided into two groups, experimental and control group. However, only the students of the experimental group were taught by using Sociogram. The obtained data were analyzed by using t-test. The students were given questionnaire to know their perceptions. The result showed that there was a significant difference in both students? writing and speaking achievements after they were tought by using Sociogram. Furthermore, it was found that there was a significant difference in students? writing and speaking achievement between the experimental and control groups. In conclusion, Sociogram improves the students? writing and speaking achievements.

This research discussed how the use herringbone technique  to improve the students’ ability in reading. This research used quasi experimental design that applied a pre-test and post-test design. The data was analyzed by using t-test. The population of this research was the eight year students of SMP Negeri 9 Parepare in academic year 2013/2014. There were two classes, a class for experimental class and a class for control class. It utilized cluster random sampling technique. The number of each class was 30 students. The instrument used in this research was reading test use of herringbone technique in learning reading. The result of this research was a significant difference between experimental group and control group. This indicates the mean score of the post-test of experimental group was 97 while that of the control group was 92. Moreover, the t-test value (7,24) was higher than t-table value (2.021). In other words, Hypothesis Alternative (H1) was accepted and Hypothesis Null (H0) was rejected. This means that Using Herringbone technique can improve the students’ reading comprehension by using herringbone technique.

This study aimed at investigating the effect of using powerpoint modified pictures as a media in teaching writing descriptive text. The population of this study was all the students of eighth-grade students of  SMPN 22 Kota Bengkulu in academic year 2016/2017 with the total number of population 66 students. The sample of this research was taken by using purposive sampling. By using that technique, 42 students were taken as the samples. The samples divided into two groups, experimental and control group. The instrument employed in this study was writing tests. The pre-test was conducted before giving treatments in order to know the scores of both groups. After giving some treatments to the experimental and control group, the post-test was held to both groups. Based on the data analysis of the post-test, it was found that t-count > t-table (4.66 > 2.021). This finding indicated that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control group scores. It means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, powerpoint modified pictures had a significant effect on students’ writing ability. The use of powerpoint modified pictures could increase students’  writing ability especially in descriptive text. Therefore, this technique can be applied by the teacher as a teaching aid in descriptive text’s writing.

This quasi-experimental study involves the experimental and control group which consist of 60 students in first year of SMA Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang   2019/2020 academic year.  The reading test is used to collect data to find out do the students can achieve significant result in reading test using Text-based Character. Based on the result the mean score of the experimental group pre-test was 72.67 and classified into good classification, while the control group was 69.63 classified into good. The mean score of the post-test after treatment for the experimental group was 82.43 (very good) while the control group was 76.53, (good) classification still.  The researcher found that the T-table is higher than the t-test (α) (1.659<2.021). It means that there is a significant difference in the pre-test of the control and experimental group, while in post-test of an experimental and control group, the researcher finds that the T-test is higher than the alpha and previous score in the the pre-test (α) (3.089>2.021). The degree of freedom is 58. This study reveals that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This is means that the use of Text-based Characters can improves students' reading skills in significant way.

This research was done due to the lack of students' reading ability in descriptive text in MTsS Yati Kamang. This research was classified as a quasi-experimental research. To experiment class the researcher choose VII.II class and VII.I is experiment class. The researcher uses test to measure students’ reading ability. Afterwards, the researcher proved that the Comic strip as a media was able to increase students' reading ability in descriptive text. Experiment class and control class there are 38 students. There were 19 students as the respondents in experimental group and 19 students as the respondents in control group. The experimental class was taught by using Comic strips as media in teaching and the control group was taught only by using Picture. The result of paired sample t-test showed that the tobtained (6,591) was higher than ttable(2,326) with the level significant 0,01. The null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It means there is a significant effect of using Comic strips toward students’ reading ability in descriptive text at the seventh grade of MTsS Yati Kamang.

The aim of this research was to find out whether jumbled texts have any effects towards students’ ability in writing. This study was experiments research and used pre-test and post-test non-equivalent group design of quasi experimental design. The population of this study was all students of the second grade at SMPN 3 Tanjung and the sample was two classes which consisted of 22 students of each class. To analyze the data this study used descriptive statistic and inferential statistic. The finding of this research showed that the t-test was 3,416 > t-table 1, 682. The mean score of experimental and control group was 760>60,59. It can be concluded that alternative hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected and jumbled texts was effective toward students’ ability in writing.Keywords: Jumbled Texts, Ability, Writing

This thesis is entitled "The Use of Transition Action Details Strategy in Teaching Writing Ability to the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Rawabening". The objective of this study was to know whether or not there are any significant differences between the student who are taught by using the Transition Action Details Strategy and the student who is not taught by using it. This study used an experimental method, a quasi-experimental design. The population of this study was 47 students, and the sample was 47 students was taken by using purposive sampling, those were 24 students of the experimental group and 23 students of the control group. Based on the calculation by using an independent t-test by using SPSS 16, The writer found that t-obtained was higher than t-table (2.868>2.014) at the significant level a=0.05 in two-tailed testing. It meant that there were any significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypotheses (Ha) were accepted. It can be concluded that Transition Actions Details Strategy was significant in teaching writing ability to the eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Rawabening.

English Environment Programs is one of method In Improving Speaking Ability At Polytechnic of National Informatics. This research aims at finding out wheather or not the use of English environment Programs improve the speaking ability. This research used Quasy experimental method with two group pre-test and post-test design. The result of the data analysis showed that the degree of freedom (df) was 43 (n1 + n2 – 2) where n1 = 30 and n2 = 15 so 30 + 15 – 2 = 43), the level of significant (α) = 0.05, the t-test value of students’ speaking ability= 3.765, and the t-table value = 2.021. The t-test value is greater than the t-table value (3.765 > 2.021), this showed that there is a significant difference of improvement between the Control group and Experimental Group. It means that the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) is accepted while the Null Hypothesis (H0) rejected. Based on the result above, the researcher concluded that the using of English Environment Programs can improve the speaking ability of the second year students of Polytechnic of National InformaticsKeywords: English Environment, Speaking, Effectiveness

The purpose of this paper is to report the effect of Shadowing Technique on students’ listening skills achievement. Therefore, the experimental research was applied and the technique on collecting the data was administrating pre- and post- tests to the experiment and control groups, which consisted of 40 students in each group. Then, t-test was employed on analyzing the data. As a result, there was a significant difference between the mean of experimental and control groups (F = 8.92, p=. 003 < .05). Therefore, there was a significant effect of applying shadowing technique on students’ listening skill achievements and the experimental group outperformed the control group. To sum up, the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected.
