This study was aimed at finding the effect of small group discussion in improving speaking skills at the seventh year students of SMA Plus NW. This research was conducted as quasi-experiment using a quantitative approach with One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population of the research was the eleventh-grade students of SMA Plus Munirul Arifin NW Praya in academic year 2018/2019. Each class consists of 28 students. The total population was 95 students. In this study, the researcher took one class as a sample. The class was eleventh Grade of MIPA 1 consisting of 28 students as the experiment. The researcher gave treatment to the experimental group and it used Small Group Discussion as the treatment of teaching speaking. The purpose of using the Small Group Discussion was to give new inspiration that can be applied in teaching speaking. Referring to the result pre-test and post-test showed that the sig (2 tailed) > 0.05, it means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. So the use of Small Group Discussion in teaching speaking is effective. The value of t-test was higher than the t-value of t-table (t-test 8.5148 > t-table 2.006). It showed that teaching speaking using small group discussion has a positive effect to improve students' speaking skill. Besides that, the result of the mean of post-test was higher than the mean of pre-test (M2 = 18.43 > M1 = 14.25). It means that teaching speaking by using small group discussion was more effective than teaching speaking without using small group discussion. In addition, small group discussion can improve students' speaking skill in the eleventh-grade students of SMA Plus Munirul Arifin NW Praya.

We chose the words “large-group instruction” in lieu of “team teaching,” since the goals of this innovation are somewhat different from those commonly associated with team teaching. The most commonly offered goal of team teaching is that of providing students with a richer educational experience by combining the specialties of the teachers in a given school. While this idea could be incorporated into the structure of our large-group instruction in mathematics, this was not our primary concern. Flexible scheduling offers many possibilities for a variety of combinations of large-group leeture and small-group discussion labs. Our question with regard to this freedom was simply this: Can a teacher's load, in terms of classroom contact hours with students, be substantially reduced under large-group instruction while maintaining a high degree of learning within the group?

Speaking is one of the main purposes of language learning in that it is an ability to transfer some ideas to other people clearly and correctly. In other words, he or she can communicate his or her ideas well to other people. As speaking dominates all activities in the English subject, the language components, namely pronunciation, fluency and vocabulary should also be learnt to support the language skills.  Based on the English teacher interview result that small group discussion have never been used by the teachers, speaking skill on the eighth grade students of junior high school of SMP Darul Muhajirin, so it was necessary to conduct a research in this school. The research design was quasi experimental. It began from conducting homogeneity test, deciding the experimental class and the control class, giving activities to the control class using the common technique and material usually applied by the English teacher and treatments to the experimental class that was using small group discussion in teaching speaking, then giving the same post-test to both classes, and the last analyzing the results of the post-test by using t-test. The result of this research The analysis of the post test results showed that there was a significant effect of using small group discussion that of speaking skill the experimental class got higher mean score than the control class (65, 1>57, 5) of the students’ speaking skill. Then, the result of data analysis using SPSS showed that the t-test value (2-tailed) 0.000, was less than 0.05.is expected to provide useful information for the English teacher to use interesting materials, that is, small group discussion in the English teaching learning process, especially in teaching speaking, since the small group discussion have never been used at SMPN Darul Muhajirin.

Introduction: Diarrhea is still a leading cause of death in the world in children, especially in children under 5 years. Diarrhea is a contagious disease with relatively high morbidity and mortality rates. Rotavirus is a cause of diarrhea in children and is a very important public health problem in both developed and developing countries. Parents' knowledge is one of the causes of diarrhea due to parents' ignorance of the causes of diarrhea, how diarrhea is transmitted and how to prevent diarrhea. Methods: This explanatory mixed qantitative-qualitative method with a quasi experimental design study to determine the effect of interactive discussion on changes in knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions towards the prevention and management of childhood diarrhea among mothers and children living in the area of The Ash-Shiddiqiyah Orphanage located in Central Sremo, Hargowilis, Kokap, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta. Results: The activities were conducted on November 29th, 2020 with 67 participants consisting of 54 children and 13 mothers from the area. The questionnaire results showed that the posttest scores in all sections (knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions) were significantly higher compared to the the pretest scores. There were increment of 1.33 points in knowledge (p<0.001), 0.5 points in attitudes (p<0.001),  0.4 points in perception (p<0.05), and 0.76 points in overall scores (p<0.001). Interviewees agreed that the intervention has been properly conducted with clear delivery, easy to understand for both adults and children, and ability to two-way communication. Technology utilization might help the understanding of the audience. Besides, a small group discussion in the session may benefit the participants to ask more confidently compared to asking in the middle of large group due to shame. Conclusion: Interactive discussion could be used to improve knowledge, atittude and perception towards childhood diarrhea. The delivery of interactive discussion using simple language for targetted population, adoption of small group discussion and technology utilization might help the effectiveness of the intervention. Further study is needed to identify effective ways to promote the childhood diarrhea management and prevention in community.
