This study investigated the relationship between teacher leadership and professional competency on student academic accomplishment in vocational colleges in Oman. A questionnaire was instructed and conducted from post foundation students across the seventh vocational colleges in the Sultanate of Oman to collect data. A quantitative research approach was adopted to analyze the data. Built on Kane’s comprehensive framework of teacher leadership (2009); Fenollar, Roman and Cuestas’ integrative model of the antecedents of academic performance (2007), the present study formulated a new framework to fit into the Omani context education. SPSS was used to analyze data.  The study showed that all the main hypotheses of the study are accepted. The study concluded that there is a positive relationship between teacher leadership, professional competency and student academic performance in the English language. Such a positive relationship lies in that students are highly affected by their teachers’ leadership skills and professional competencies. Future research is needed to investigate the relationship between teacher gender, age, experience, and qualification as independent variables and student academic performance at vocational colleges in the Sultanate of Oman.

This work emphasizes the teaching work in the progress of the educational system. The objective was to determine the relationship between the Teacher Professional Training and the Academic Performance of the students of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of an University of Lima, Perú. The study methodology was correlational, the sample was 6 teachers and 72 students. The teachers were surveyed and the students were evaluated through the minutes. A mean and direct correlation of 44.05% was obtained between the variables studied.

Aims: This study sought to explore the moderating role of gender in the relationship between creative thinking and academic performance in English Language and Mathematics among Junior High School students in the Aboom Circuit, Cape Coast. Study Design: The design for the study is correlational espousing the quantitative approach. The study was guided by two research hypotheses, which were tested using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation and Andrew F. Hayes Moderation Process. The instruments for the data collection were Kumar, Kemmler and Holman (1997) Creativity Styles Questionnaire-Revised (CSQ-R) and standardised-type test developed by experts in the various subject areas. Results: The study revealed significant relationship between creative thinking and academic performance of students (English Language: r=.432, n=140, p=0.05, p=.003, 2-tailed; Mathematics: r=.401, n=140 p=0.05, p=0.000, 2-talied). The study further revealed that gender moderated significantly in the relationship between creativity and academic performance (English Language: b=-.276, t=-2.398, CI= -.485, -.088; Mathematics: b=-.300, t=-2.198, CI= -.564, -.070). As such, male respondents had higher creative thinking effect in English Language and Mathematics than female respondents (b=.371, t=4.608, CI [.212, .530; b=.219, t=2.286, CI [.030, .407]). Conclusion: Creative thinking indeed relates to performance, as such, it was recommended  that creative thinking should be nurtured among all students in J.H.S. In addition, stakeholders in education should consider including creative thinking in the curriculum and pay special attention to nurturing creative think in female students so that they could match up with their male counterparts.

Student’s performance is an outcome of effective teachers training. This study has been conducted to investigate the relationship between teachers training and student academic performance. The data has been collected from 260 respondents out of which 80 male and female teachers and 180 students of grade VIII of public schools by conducting survey at five point likert scale. The data has been analyzed by employing correlation and regression analysis. The results revealed that teacher's trainings has a significant effect on the students academic performance.

Graduating students of UiTM are required to sit for English Exit Test (EET) whose objective is to gauge students’ English proficiency level and their readiness for the workplace. Since the test is administered before students finish their studies, it is important to examine if EET has a predictive validity in determining the academic performance of UiTM students. We use the students’ CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) to gauge their academic performance and English language proficiency since English is used as a medium of instruction at UiTM. A four-part predictive validity study was conducted on the relationship between students’ EET performance and academic achievement. A sample of 1,436 students’ EET results and CGPA from various faculties were analysed based on the results from four semesters which were 2016/2, 2016/4, 2017/2 and 2017/4. The relationship among the scores were summarised with correlation coefficients and a series of one-way ANOVA tests were run to see if there were any significant mean differences in the scores based on faculties in a span of two years. The findings revealed that there were positive correlations between students’ EET results and their CGPA. Thus, it can be concluded that EET has the predictive validity for students’ academic achievement which is the CGPA. The present study also found that EET can be considered a good test as the results of EET could differentiate good students from weak ones. This was determined by running a series of One-way ANOVA tests. The results revealed that faculties whose students had high English proficiency level scored better in EET than those whose students who had low English proficiency level. Therefore, the findings indicate that EET has a potential in differentiating high English proficient students from low English proficient students for their language readiness in the workplace.

This paper presents preliminary data on a series of building comfort experiments conducted in the field. We performed physical in-situ measurements and solicited responses from 409 (184 female; 225 male) university students in six different classrooms at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst during three seasons (fall, winter and spring). Our questions focused on student perception of comfort in varied environmental (temperature and humidity, and air speed) conditions. We collected records of student academic performance in the classes, correlating their comfort perceptions to their test scores. Statistical analysis of classroom environmental variables, thermal satisfaction, and student scores suggest that by enhancing thermal comfort, we can improve academic performance.

Intrapreneurial self-capital is the construct coined by Di Fabio as a core of individual resources used to cope with career and life construction challenges. In this study, we used the model of Individual Differences in Evaluating Life Satisfaction (IDELS) to examine the mediating role of intrapreneurial self-capital in the relationship between life satisfaction and flourishing among Malaysian undergraduate students. The Intrapreneurial Self-Capital Scale (ISCS), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and Flourishing Scale were administered to 665 undergraduate students from one of the public universities in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The results reported a significant direct effect of student satisfaction with life to flourishing. A significant path coefficient was also found from satisfaction with life and student academic performance to intrapreneurial self-concept providing the support that student satisfaction with life and academic performance has a positive effect on their intrapreneurial self-concept. The coefficients from intrapreneurial self-concept to flourishing was also significant. This provides initial support that an intrapreneurial self-concept may have a positive mediating effect on the relationship between satisfaction with life, academic performance, and flourishing. We found that the indirect effects of satisfaction with life and academic performance on flourishing through intrapreneurial self-concept were significant. These results provided further support for the mediating effect of intrapreneurial self-concept. The analysis also that revealed satisfaction with life was significantly and positively related to flourishing. However, the finding showed no significant direct effect of student academic performance on flourishing.

This study investigates empirically the influence of home environment on the academic performance of the students in some selected schools in Dekina Local Government Area in Kogi State, Nigeria. The study was anchored on Charles Darwin Social Theory and Theory of Parent Involvement. The researcher used mainly primary data from a sample of 120 respondents obtained by the use of a well-structured questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The probability value of the estimate was used for accepting and rejecting the hypotheses of the study. The result of the regression analysis indicates that a positive relationship exist between parents’ economic status (PES) and Students Academic  Performance (SAP) in selected schools in Dekina Local Government Kogi State, Nigeria and the relationship is statistically significant (p<0.05). A positive relationship exist between parents educational background (PEB) and Students' Academic  Performance (SAP) in selected schools in Dekina Local Government Kogi State, Nigeria and the relationship is statistically significant (p<0.05). Parental marital style (PMS) was negatively related to Students' Academic Performance (SAP) in selected schools in Dekina Local Government Kogi State, Nigeria. Home location of parent (HLP) was positively related to Students' Academic  Performance (SAP) in selected schools in Dekina Local Government Kogi State, Nigeria and the relationship is statistically significant (p<0.05) and in line with a priori expectation. It was concluded that parents’ economic statuses, parental educational backgrounds, parental marital Styles, and home locations of parents all do have varying degrees of effects on the performance of students in the study area. It was recommended among others that illiterate parents should be encouraged to go to school, in that their literacy will enhance their children academic achievement in schools.

Introduction: Student motivation plays a vital role in how well they perform academically. It is particularly important in dental students due to intense studies and tiring clinical duties. Research has been done to find out the relationship of qualitative and quantitative motivation with academic performance, but with contradictory results.Objective: To find the correlation between the strength of motivation and academic performance among dental students of the University College of Medicine and Dentistry (UCMD).Method: A correlational research design was applied. The strength of motivation was calculated using the SMMS-R questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent on WhatsApp to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and final year students. One hundred and forty-four responses were recorded. Out of these, 4 students did not allow to access their results, thus they were excluded from the study. For the rest of the 140 students, their academic scores of Combined Block Assessment 1 (CBA-1) were provided by the administration department. Data analysis was done using the SPSS 25.Results: Strength of motivation and academic performance showed a positive relationship; Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r) was 0.6 with a p-value of 0.01. With an increase in strength of motivation, the academic performance also increased.Conclusion: A positive relationship was found between the students’ strength of motivation and their academic performance as calculated by the SMMS-R questionnaire.
