Introduction: Student motivation plays a vital role in how well they perform academically. It is particularly important in dental students due to intense studies and tiring clinical duties. Research has been done to find out the relationship of qualitative and quantitative motivation with academic performance, but with contradictory results. Objective: To find the correlation between the strength of motivation and academic performance among dental students of the University College of Medicine and Dentistry (UCMD).Method: A correlational research design was applied. The strength of motivation was calculated using the SMMS-R questionnaire. The questionnaire was sent on WhatsApp to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and final year students. One hundred and forty-four responses were recorded. Out of these, 4 students did not allow to access their results, thus they were excluded from the study. For the rest of the 140 students, their academic scores of Combined Block Assessment 1 (CBA-1) were provided by the administration department. Data analysis was done using the SPSS 25.Results: Strength of motivation and academic performance showed a positive relationship; Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r) was 0.6 with a p-value of 0.01. With an increase in strength of motivation, the academic performance also increased. Conclusion: A positive relationship was found between the students’ strength of motivation and their academic performance as calculated by the SMMS-R questionnaire. KEYWORDS: Motivation, academic performance.

Anabaptist studies in Canada have been marked by an exceptional degree of productive, inter-confessional (or non-confessional) engagement, most notably between Mennonites, Baptists, and Lutherans. The institutions making the greatest contributions have been at the University of Waterloo (including, but not exclusively, Conrad Grebel University College), Queen’s University, and Acadia Divinity College. The geographic expansion of Anabaptist studies beyond the traditional Germanic centres into eastern Europe and Italy, and the re-orientation of analysis away from primarily theological or intellectual history toward a greater focus on socio-political factors and networking, have been particular areas in which Canadian scholars have impacted Anabaptist studies. The relationship of Spiritualism (and later Pietism) to Anabaptist traditions and the nature of Biblicism within Anabaptism, including the greater attention to biblical hermeneutics with the “Marpeck renaissance,” have also been studied extensively by Canadians. International debates concerning “normative” Anabaptism and its genetic origins have also been driven by the past generations of Canadian scholars (monogenesis, polygenesis, post-polygenesis).

This study aims to determine the effect of leadership style and organizational climate on the performance of lecturers at Batanghari University, Jambi. This study uses a quantitative approach with the form of correlational research which explains the relationship of each independent variable with the dependent variable, either individually or collectively, and makes predictions for the dependent variable on each independent variable. With the regression equation Y = 3,120 + 0.453 X1 + 0.494 X2 + 0.010 X3 From the above equation, it can be seen that if the leadership style can be more effective by one unit, the lecturer performance will increase by 0.453; Likewise with the organizational climate, if the organizational climate is better by one unit, the lecturer's performance will increase by 0.494, something that is not much different from motivation, namely if the motivation is increased by one unit, the performance will increase by 0.010. This means that leadership style, organizational climate and motivation have a positive correlation with lecturer performance. Therefore, it is expected that these three components (X1, X2 and X3) can be optimally improved. The results of simultaneous hypothesis testing show that the value of F count is 33.110 at the level of freedom of 95 and α = 5% greater than F table 2.02439. or sig F 0.000 <0.05, this means that simultaneously or collectively, leadership style, organizational climate and motivation have a significant effect on lecturer performance at the University of Batanghari Jambi.

Intercultural contacts can be both destructive and beneficial to creativity, depending on the characteristics of acculturation. The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between intercultural experiences, acculturation expectations and creativity of Russian students in the context of internationalizing educational environment. Using quantitative methods on a sample of 272 Russian students (average age 21 years, 61% women) we tested hypotheses that the intercultural experiences are directly related to creativity, while acculturation expectations can both mediate this relationship and be an independent predictor of creativity. Our questionnaire included “Many instances” game from the RCAB of M. Runko, acculturation expectations scale (MIRIPS by J.W. Berry), intensity of friendly intercultural contacts scale (MIRIPS by J.W. Berry) and questions about length of staying abroad. The results showed that (1) the duration of stay abroad is positively related to creativity of Russian students; (2) positive relationship between the intensity of intercultural friendly interactions at the university and creativity is partly mediated by acculturation expectation of integration; and (3) expectations of integration and segregation are positively related to creativity, while the expectations of assimilation and exclusion are negatively related.

Homework is a complex phenomenon that is related to many variables to consider. Many authors defend the relationship of homework with the improvement of the students’ academic performance. This descriptive and correlational research studies and analyses variables, which may have a significant influence between homework and academic performance. The study sample was composed of 747 students, 679 families, and 57 teachers of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade of Primary Education. The informants answered three questionnaires built ad hoc for each group. Among the main variables and relationships analyzed, the frequency of the performance of homework, doing homework with help, the time invested in them or the degree of difficulty of homework, which were all related to performance, were found. Prior to the main conclusions of the study, it was found that there is no significant relationship between investing more time on homework and getting better grades; there is a relationship between perceived difficulty in tasks and poor performance; students have better grades when they try harder, have optimal conditions for doing homework and when the type of homework entails studying and/or reviewing.

Background and aims. Internet addiction (IA) has negative consequences on the mental health and affects daily activities. This study was conducted with the aim to assess the prevalence of Internet addiction among dental university students and to determine if there is any relationship of excessive Internet use with depression and academic performance among students.Methods. This was a cross sectional study which included 384 dental students from different academic years. A questionnaire was prepared that collected information on demographic characteristics, pattern of Internet use, duration of use, and most common mode of Internet access. Internet addiction was assessed using Youngs Internet Addiction test. Depression was assessed using Becks depression inventory [BDI-1].Results. The prevalence of Internet addiction and depression was found to be 6% and 21.5% respectively. The first year students showed the highest mean Internet addiction (17.42±12.40) score. Chatting was the main purpose for Internet use. Logistic regression analysis showed that individuals who were depressed (Odds Ratio=6.00, p value<0.0001*) and scored less than 60% marks (Odds Ratio=6.71, p value<0.0001*) were more likely to be addicted to Internet.Conclusion. The addiction to internet has negative impact on mental health and academic performance. These high risk group students should be identified and psychological counseling should be provided.

Abstract Background Pacemaker, device leads have been reported to cause tricuspid regurgitation (TR) of variable degrees. It is different between RVA pacing and None-RVA pacing in device-related TR. Few articles indicate this area. Objectives: We sought to evaluate (1) TR degree in patients with right ventricular apical (RVA) pacing vs. none-RVA pacing; (2) the relationship of lead-position between RVA vs. none-RVA pacing associated with TR undergo 3-dimensional echocardiography (3DE). Methods Conventional echocardiography performed in 458 patients after pacemaker implantation. In addition, 284 patients with pre-pacemaker implantation echocardiography available were included to evaluate the development of significant TR prospectively. Results RVA pacing patients had a higher frequency of significant TR (degree≥2) compared to none-RVA pacing (63% vs. 42%, p-value <0.01). For RVA pacing, the lead was more likely to position at the anterior, posterior and septal compared to none-RVA pacing (51% vs. 33%, p-value <0.01). Importantly, leads were more likely to be positioned in the central portion with none-RVA pacing compared to RVA pacing (30% vs. 13%, p-value <0.01). Among 284 patients with pre-& post-implantation echocardiography, RVA pacing is associated with the development of significant TR compared to none-RVA pacing (59% vs. 41%, P=0.012). Factors Associated with Significant TR Univariate p-value Multivariate p-value Age 1.035 (1.016–1.055) <0.01 1.025 (1.005–1.047) 0.02 Duration 1.003 (1.001–1.006) 0.02 1.001 (0.998–1.004) 0.62 Male 0678 (0.468–0.980) 0.04 0.657 (0.436–0.991) 0.05 Pre-AF 2.623 (1.740–3.955) <0.01 1.162 (0.588–2.295) 0.67 Post-AF 3.529 (2.329–5.346) <0.01 2.671 (1.566–4.556) <0.01 DDDR 0.428 (0.236–0.777) 0.01 0.724 (0.336–1.563) 0.41 RVA 2.451 (1.673–3.589) <0.01 1.962 (1.266–3.042) <0.01 3D TTE view of the device leads in TVs Conclusions The study demonstrates that RVA pacing is more likely to develop significant TR compared to none-RVA pacing. Significantly, this study is the first details to demonstrate that lead impingement is one of the possible mechanisms that could explain the higher frequency of TR in RVA pacing compared to none-RVA pacing by 3DE.
