The success of any organization in the business world today depends on the mentality that is available and which develops and renews its business in a world characterized by development and renewal. In an increasingly competitive world, relying on profits and sales is no longer enough to face strong competition. It was necessary to rely on intangible values ​​such as intellectual capital to increase the performance of these sectors as an important institution to promote the national economy. This research aims to study the impact of intellectual capital and its components on enhancing competitive advantage The results of this research demonstrate that there is a strong influence on intellectual capital and its components (independent variables) on enhancing the competitive advantage (the dependent variable). Therefore, the researcher recommends attention to knowledge assets and encouragement of intellectual capital components (human capital, functional capital, structural capital) On the competitive advantage.

The current situation facing business organizations is characterized by diverse work environments with continuous change and development. Todays organizations seek to keep pace with this continuous development and operate to maintain their current business through the ability to effectively respond to change, and to create competitive advantage based on the existence of qualified human capital that contribute to the creation of organizational sustainability in the business sector. Talented human capital, with special skills, has the potential to create confidence and integration among the staff and top management, leading to organizational growth and continuation (Kurucz, 2013). The emergence of a set of challenges in the knowledge economy has had a clear reflection on business organizations which have begun to search for new mechanisms to compete and insure their existence in the business world. Hence, the importance of the concept of competitive advantage, based on human capital, as a necessary requirement to deal with the challenges faced by local, regional or international organizations (Global Institute, 2011). Where competitive advantage based on human capital is the main generator of new ideas, development of old ideas, and contribution to aid in organizational abilities to expand their current market share as well as maximizing value. Competitive advantage based on talented human capital allows organizations to be able to seize new opportunities and achieve permanence and future continuity (Thomas, 2014). This study aimed to look at the impact of competitive advantage through intellectual capital investment as one of the elements in the creation of organizational sustainability in the Jordanian Telecommunications Companies sector. Simple and Multiple regression was used for data analysis and testing the hypotheses of this research .This study has reached a set of results that previous studies reinforced in this area such as: Competitive advantage based on a distinct capital is the optimum method that should be used in telecommunications companies since it contributes to the optimal investment of human capital. This leads to optimum organizational sustainability for companies in various fields and also contributes to the achievement of a company’s mission and vision of the future.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of green intellectual capital on competitive advantage of Lembaga Perkreditan Desa (Balinese Financial Institution). The study tested by using data collected from a sample of 120 respondents that were randomly picked from 35 Lembaga Perkreditan Desa in Denpasar. Findings suggested that green human capital, green relational capital, and green structural capital affect competitive advantage at 17.6%. Furthermore, green human capital and green structural capital had positive effect on competitive advantage. Meanwhile, green relational capital did not affect competitive advantage. The eco-friendly concept remains a critical factor to gain company’s competitive advantage. This study provides insight into green innovation research field.

Purpose: This study aims to examine the association between intellectual capital and competitive advantage in the hotel industry in Bali Province, Indonesia. The interrelationship between components of intellectual capital –human capital, relational capital, structural capital – were tested in this study, and testing was also carried out for the association of intellectual capital – represented by structural capital – with competitive advantage. Methodology: Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 172 questionnaires were sent to general managers of three-, four- and five-star hotels in Bali Province. A total of 109 questionnaires were returned and could be analysed (a 63% response rate). The analysis was performed using covariance-based structural equation modeling with AMOS 21.0 software. Main Findings: The findings show that between the components of intellectual capital there is a positive and significant association: human capital with relational capital, human capital with structural capital and relational capital with structural capital. The findings also show that structural capital has a significant positive association with a competitive advantage. Implications: Mobilising and utilising human capital as much as possible can create and enhance relational capital and structural capital. Willingness to realise, utilise, compile and develop organizational knowledge enables long-term competitive advantages to be achieved. Novelty: This study examines the association of intellectual capital – facilitated by structural capital – and competitive advantage, which researchers have not done before in the hotel industry.

The population of 65 employees were used and the population was used as sample size.  Point in time data were collected from primary source and Ordinary Least Square was adopted and finding reveals that the relationship between intellectual capital and competitive advantage in Pan African Nigeria Limited is significant. This shows that there is a significant relationship between human capital and competitive advantage in Pan African Nigeria Limited, Abuja. This study aims to examine the reality of intellectual capital in the private universities of Turkey and UAE and the role of intellectual capital in enhancing their competitive advantage. In this regard, the study explores the extent to which each element of intellectual capital influences the competitive advantage of the universities under the study and whether there is a difference between universities in how to manage the intellectual capital that they own. Accordingly, the study first explains the definition of intellectual capital and its elements (human capital, structural capital, relational capital), as well as the definition of the competitive advantage and its dimensions and fields of achievement in the universities under the study. Besides, it also investigates the relationship between the administrative procedures followed by these universities in the management of intellectual capital and in enhancing their competitive advantage from several aspects (innovation, quality, flexibility, development, and quality of service). The study relied on the selection of a simple convenience sampling method of the population of private universities in Turkey and UAE by a descriptive analytical approach, so a survey was made to verify the approaches in the theoretical frameworks of the intellectual capital and its relation to the dependent variables, which is the competitive advantage. The hypotheses were tested based on statistical analysis programs. The statistical analysis points to several important results and implications. Findings of the study reveal that there is a statistically significant relationship between the ability of the private universities in Turkey and UAE to manage their intellectual capital and enhance their competitive advantage, while the management of human capital, structural capital, and relational capital seem to have a similar impact rate on the Turkish and UAE private universities in enhancing their competitive advantage. Findings of the study further indicates that there is no statistically significant difference in the average responses of sample members on the level of the availability of intellectual capital requirements and achievement of competitive advantage in the private universities in Turkey and UAE due to some variables like gender, age, qualifications, years of service, years of service in the current position, job title.

Intellectual capital merupakan asset tidak berwujud, sumber daya, iptek dan pengetahuan yang dimiliki perusahaan yang membedakannya dengan perusahaan lain. Intellectual capital telah berkembang dan menjadi modal yang sangat penting dan menjadi bagian yang sangat kritikal bagi perusahaan untuk memperoleh keunggulan bersaing (competitive advantage) dalam menghadapi perkembangan ekonomi global di mana persaingan semakin kuat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh intellectual capital terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Penelitian ini akan dilakukan pada Perusahaan Perbankan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Metode Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC) digunakan untuk menghitung Intellectual Capital. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan Intellectual Capital berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Secara parsial, Customer Capital (VACA ) berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Sedangkan variabel Human Capital (VAHU) dan Structural Capital (STVA) tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja perusahaan.

This paper sought to examine the effect of intellectual capital on competitive advantage in the Jordanian telecommunication sector. Indeed, intellectual capital is generally assumed to be an important aspect of the organization and one of the most conducive to innovative activity and unrestrained competition. The paper finds that the tripod of intellectual capital, namely, human capital, structural capital, and relational capital has a significant influence on achieving a competitive advantage. Among these three dimensions, relational capital is the most influential component in enhancing the competitive advantage. Considering these results, the research presented many recommendations for future research, the most important ones is implementing this study on other sectors, resort to multi-method of data collection, and the use of probability sampling techniques.

The aim of the research was to analyze the management of the SMEs of Troso Weaving Craft in Jepara Regency in relation to the human resources. In order that the SMEs can compete with today’s industry, the SMEs are required to be able to run their businesses professionally and to innovate, as well as to implement new breakthroughs. Therefore, the management of the SMEs needs to develop their intellectual ability and competitive advantage for their products. Intellectual capital is the intangible resource that can be used as the source of sustainable competitive advantage. The measurement of IC associated with competitive advantage was made against the elements of human capital, structural capital and costumer capital. Hence,this research discussed a model that relates the intellectual capital of the SMEs to the competitive advantage of the SMEs of Troso Weaving Craft in Jepara Regency. For the development of the model and hypothesis, the research used the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), by taking the samples of 157 SMEs of Troso Weaving Craft selected in simple random sampling. The analysis results show that human capital, structural capital, and customer capital have the effect on competitive advantage. It means that the improvement of the competitive advantage for Troso Weaving Craft requires trainings in the managements of production, distribution, marketing and finance for all individuals and employees of the SMEs.
