Abstract Background Advances in technology and the expansion of nursing roles have led to complex ethical issues in nursing. Nursing students are the future clinical nursing workers and practitioners. The ethical sensitivity of nursing students is very important to the professional development of nursing students, which can strengthen the ethical cognition of nursing students, improve the ethical decision-making ability of nursing students, and is beneficial to the development of nursing students in the process of clinical practice and nursing education. However, there are no instruments to evaluate the ethical sensitivity of nursing students in China. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the Ethical Sensitivity Questionnaire for Nursing Students (ESQ-NS). Methods After obtaining the authorization of the author of the original scale, the study used the Brislin back-translation method for translation. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were performed to examine the underlying factor structure of the translated questionnaire. The Cronbach alpha coefficient, the test-retest reliability, and the corrected item-total correlation were calculated to verify the internal consistency of the scale. Results The Chinese version of ESQ-NS retained 13 items. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) extracts four common factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rate is 62.479%. The CFA reached the adaptive standard, and the discriminant validity of the scale was good. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of this scale was 0.821, and 4 dimensions were between 0.708 and 0.738. The results of the test-retest showed that Pearson’s correlation coefficient of the overall ESQ-NS was 0.814. Corrected item-total correlation ranged from 0.337 to 0.542. Conclusions The Chinese version of the ESQ-NS has good reliability and validity, which can be used to evaluate the level of ethical sensitivity of nursing students in China.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a questionnaire that measures the effectiveness of communication during organisational change interventions. A draft questionnaire was completed by a sample of convenience comprising 521 participants. The questionnaire contained 109 items in question format with a Likert-type response scale anchored at the extreme ends. The data was factor analysed and an iterative item analysis was executed. The results yielded a single scale with a Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0,99. It is concluded, therefore, that the conceptualised domain of “communicating-for-change"? could be measured successfully through the use of the instrument developed in this study.

Responses of 228 subjects were factor analyzed. The analyses identified three independent factors. Analyses of variance, Cronbach alpha coefficient, and K-R-20 formula for estimation of reliability show the scale to be reliable and homogeneous. Domain sampling method for the estimation of reliability is very low for the full scale and moderate for the three independent scales. Item analyses and criteria validity are also reported. Taking gain in income as a criterion of success, the criterion validity of the scale is zero.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of spiritual well-being on materialism, to contribute the marketing literature and to create awareness to marketing practitioners in developing marketing strategies. The research was conducted on 1243 people 18 and upper age, living in Turkey. Data was collected by online survey in 2018. Data tool has two dimensions; the first scale which includes three sub-dimensions (transcendence, harmony with nature and anomie) was used to measure spiritual well-being -scale's validity and reliability were done by Ekşi and Kardaş (2017)-. And the second scale was used to measure materialism -scale's validity and reliability was done by Richins (2004) and the Turkish translation was done by Tiltay (2014)-. The first dimension which measures the spiritual well-being (29 expressions) total Cronbach alpha coefficient is 0,890. The second dimension which measures the materialism (6 expressions) total Cronbach alpha coefficient is 0,767. The results indicate that the spiritual well-being explain the materialistic attitudes significantly but at a low level. Transcendence and Anomie, which are the sub-dimensions of spiritual well-being, have positive relations -not negative- with materialistic attitudes opposite to expectations is another result of study. Especially the anomie is found as the most powerful sub-dimension that explains materialistic attitudes. Harmony with nature, another sub-dimension of spiritual well-being, is found to have no significant relation with materialistic attitudes.
