This article explains the researcher ownership of tools of inquiry. Using personal narrative, the text highlights the elements of case study development presenting the familial as the impetus for an alternative mode for LIS social justice research in an ethnic, racial, gendered community. Using the researcher journey as an example, the approach is explored through a theoretical and methodological iterative case development process. Implications in the furtherance of LIS social justice inquiry models utilizing a critical-qualitative approach are explicated towards the development of a case study in the pursuit of community-focused research.

The main aim of this chapter is to provide the reader with knowledge about best practices in writing case studies. Case studies are now widely used in many areas of education. Our special focus of this chapter is on business case studies, specifically developed for business school students. Such cases were popularized by Harvard Business School, where this is the main form of teaching. However popular in the teaching process, writing case studies can post significant challenges, especially to first-time case writers. This chapter aims to address those challenges that may occur while developing a case study and to provide the reader knowledge about the best practices in writing case studies. The authors believe that this material can be useful for both experienced case study writers and those with no practice or prior experience. This chapter contains three sections. The first part is focused on the case study development process, covering four stages: strategic decisions, research, writing, testing and refining. The second section aims to present practical aspects of writing a good case study and best practices for case study content and the main elements of case study structure. The third section is focused on a teaching note in the case study development process. In the appendinx the authors present the checklist for developing a good case study that can be helpful tool in the development process.

Creating and negotiating an inter-organizational business case (BC) for multiple-stakeholder enterprise systems is a major challenge. This paper looks closer into the factors that influence the stakeholders’ willingness to share information necessary for the BC development. The authors develop an explanatory framework showing the effect that project constellation has on the development of a shared BC. They identify several factors, such as goal consensus, cultural and semantic similarities and willingness to share information, that mitigate this effect. Subsequently, the authors apply the framework in an inter-organizational case study in which a BC is developed. The findings show that current BC development methods need to be re-stated and complemented by new tools and interventions to support stakeholders in the inter-organizational specific setting. The authors elaborate on the possibilities that group decision support systems might offer to overcome challenges that might be experienced in the BC development process.

A case study in manufacturing giant attempts to capture how potential effectiveness of a role is psychologically tuned along ten dimensions on which efficacy of an employee is defined. Further, how position, age and tenure of employment interact with role efficacy. A combination of quantitative and qualitative approach is followed, where n=28. Managers are seen as leaders and act like role models for the subordinates. Further, managers are high on helping relationship. Both see an opportunity for personal growth in their role. Self- role integration is lesser in managers than subordinates. Subordinates are found to be more reactive. Confrontation is greater for subordinates than managers. Elders are strong on dimensions common to achievers and youngest seems to have politics. Longer tenures exhibits more helping attitude and more confrontation than with smaller tenures. Thus, the dynamism between position, age and tenure seems to have an effect on role-efficacy.

This study aims to obtain a description related to the learning of PAI by using ICT and how the impact of the use of ICT on PAI learning systems in the classroom. The research method uses a qualitative approach in the integrated Islamic high school Ummul Quro Bogor, West Java. The results showed that a) there were four stages of using ICT in the learning process, namely; emerging, applying, integrating dan transforming. PAI teachers are already at the integrating stage. In other words, ICT has been integrated into the PAI learning curriculum. b) supporting factors for the use of ICT are the existence of ICT support facilities, the availability of qualified educators, the commitment of the school to implement ICT in every PAI learning. c) Inhibiting factors in the use of ICT are aspects of financing ICT facilities require a large budget. Some elderly teachers have difficulty using ICT in the learning process. Besides, the internet network is unstable. d) The impact of the use of ICT is very significant on PAI learning process. e) the existence of ICT devices not only as a support but already as an important component in the education system. The research led to the recommendation of the need for government support in the form of concern for ICT in terms of policies, facilities, workforce, budget, and organizing training in the use of ICT for PAI teachers to improve their professionalism. Therefore, further research is suggested regarding the effectiveness of the use of ICT in the learning process of PAI.

As the impact factors of the waste Not-In-My-Back Yard (NIMBY) crisis are complex, and the scenario evolution path of it is diverse. Once the crisis is not handled properly, it will bring adverse effects on the construction of waste NIMBY facilities, economic development and social stability. Consequently, based on ground theory, this paper takes the waste NIMBY crisis in China from 2006 to 2019 as typical cases, through coding analysis, scenario evolution factors of waste NIMBY crisis are established. Furtherly, three key scenarios were obtained, namely, external situation (E), situation state (S), emergency management (M), what is more, scenario evolution law of waste NIMBY crisis is revealed. Then, the dynamic Bayesian network theory is used to construct the dynamic scenario evolution network of waste NIMBY crisis. Finally, based on the above models, Xiantao waste NIMBY crisis is taken as a case study, and the dynamic process of scenario evolution network is visually displayed by using Netica. The simulation results show that the scenario evolution network of Xiantao waste NIMBY crisis is basically consistent with the actual incident development process, which confirms the effectiveness and feasibility of the model.
