Ten commercial genotypes of Gerbera jamesonii were evaluated for a number of qualitative and quantitative traits in RCBD at the Botanical Garden of Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka. Qualitative morphology among 10 genotypes showed significant similarities and dissimilarities. The analysis of variance for all the quantitative traits showed highly significant variations among the genotypes. Genotypes Dutch Diva, Classic Fabio Gold, Candela and Dune proved to be the most suitable and sustainable as they were the best performer for different growth and flower quality parameters. Number of flowers per plant found best in Candela and Dutch Diva (11.33). The phenotypic coefficients of variation (PCV) were found higher than the genotypic coefficients of variation (GCV) for all characters. Maximum GCV and PCV were observed for number of suckers per plant (30.984 and 39.568) followed by number of whorls of ray florets per flower and days to flowering from bud initiation. High heritability values were obtained for all the characters. In high heritability estimate coupled with high genetic advance as percentage of mean was maximum for days to first flowering (32.442), plant height (cm) (17.026) and number of suckers per plant (15.992). Selection would be effective for the character showing high performance in genetic parameter. Path analysis revealed that the diameter of disc florets per flower, stalk girth (cm), number of disc florets per flower, number of ray florets per flower would be selection criteria for improvement in flower number. Based on D2 statistics, 10 genotypes were grouped into 3 clusters, namely cluster I, II and III. Highest number of genotypes was found in cluster I containing 5 genotypes. Scatter diagram represents pattern of genotypic distribution into clustering through principal component scores. Highest inter-cluster distance (22.94) was observed between cluster I and III. The genotypes of cluster II possessed heterogeneous nature and showed highest intra-cluster distance (11.35). Hellebores in a number of countries are economically important ornamental crops, and these plants are also sources of glycosides used for medicinal purposes. In the literary sources, it was not possible to find information on the variability of the traits of Helleborus viridis L., and this must be known for directed plant breeding. Therefore, the aim of this work is to analyze the polymorphism of quantitative traits in hellebore green in the collection of the Tsytsin Main Botanical Garden (Moscow, Russia). Quantitative data collection was carried out in 2021. There were 20 traits, including 2 traits of plant habit, 8 traits of a leaf, 6 for a flower and 4 for a fruit. Statistical processing of the data was carried out using the calculation of the coefficients of variation and carrying out one-way analysis of variance. It was found that a high percentage of polymorphism falls on the parameters of the leaf, and a low variability - in the traits of a flower and a fruit. Features of the genotype affect the parameters of leaves by 20-30%, and no significant effect on other parameters was found. The objective of this study was to collect information on genetic parameter and agronomy character of soybean F4 generation in the low light intensity condition. The parameter was tested to 130 lines F4 which are produced by Balai Besar Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Teknologi Pertanian (BBP2TP) Boor and the genotype of Sibayak, Tegal, Tanggamus, and Argomulyo were used as controls. The experiment was conducted in the university�s experimental field in Cikabayan, from September to December 2007. Sixty mango genotypes were studied to find out their variability, heritability, and genetic advance. Significant variations were observed in 20 characters. There were also considerable differences between the genotypic and the phenotypic coefficients of variation for almost all the characters which indicated the influence of environment on the expression of these traits. Among the studied characters, GCV and PCV were high for weight of harvested fruits per plant, % fruit harvest per inflorescence, % initial fruit set per inflorescence, number of fruits per plant and number of main branches per inflorescence. All the characters showed considerably high heritability which ranged from 56.21 to 98.24% and the genetic advance (as % of mean) was high for the maximum traits. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was observed in weight of harvested fruits per plant, % initial fruit set per inflorescence, % of flowering shoot, number of inflorescences per shoot, percent fruit harvest per inflorescence, number of main branches per inflorescence, number of fruits per plant, number of inflorescences per shoot, plant height (cm), and percent perfect flowers which indicated that these characters were less influenced by environment confirming predominance of additive gene action and therefore, selection in favour of these characters would be feasible for yield improvement of mango. Sorghum has a growing popularity for food, feed, biofuel, and therefore needs to be developed. The research aimed to compare the effectiveness of pedigree and modified bulk selection methods for improving yield in three sorghum populations. The genetic materials used were 60 F6 lines from three populations, namely PI 10-90-A x Numbu, PI 150-20-A x Numbu and PI 150-20-A x Kawali which had been selected using pedigree and modified bulk methods. The experiment was conducted from October 2018 to February 2019 at the Cikabayan Experimental Station of IPB University, Dramaga, Bogor. The experiment was arranged in an augmented design with six checks, namely Kawali, Numbu, PI 10-90-A, PI 150-20-A, Samurai 1, and Samurai 2 which were replicated four times. Observations were made on agronomic traits and yield. Plant height and grain weight per panicle had high heritability and large genotypic coefficients of variation. The contrast test results showed significant differences between populations in plant height, panicle length, days of harvesting and 100-seed weight. On the other hand, no significant difference was observed among selection methods, indicating that both methods were equally effective for increasing sorghum yield. The pedigree selection and modified bulk selection increased grain yield per panicle by 14.1 g and 18.2 g respectively. The experiment was performed at Research cum Instructional Farm, Shaheed Gundadhoor College of Agriculture and Research Station, Kumhrawand, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. A total of 56germplasm lines and 1 check variety of horsegram were assessed for 10 quantitative traits during kharif2018.Genotypes were grouped into eight clusters. Clusters VI had maximum intra cluster distance while inter cluster distance was maximum between cluster VI and cluster VIII. Cluster III and cluster VIII had highest mean values for seed yield per plant characters. The characters viz., pods per plant followed by days to maturity and seed yield per plant were main contribution to total divergence. Based on the result genotypes belonging to clusters II, III and VIII are recommended for hybridization, as these genotypes showed good performance for seed yield and belong to the diverse clusters.

Thirty-two genotypes were evaluated in a replicated trial at Sugarcane Research Program, Jitpur, Bara, Nepal in 2000-2001 to estimate phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation, heritability and genetic advance for seven stalk characters in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L). Analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences between genotypes for all the characters studied. Genotypic variance was higher than environmental one for cane yield, millable cane number, single cane weight, stalk diameter and stalk length. A single cane weight, germination at 45 days after planting and millable cane number had high genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation. High heritability estimates were recorded for millable cane number, stalk diameter and single cane weight. A total of 434 germplasm lines of chickpea were assessed for 13 quantitative traits during rabi 2015-16 at JNKVV, Jabalpur. Genotypes were grouped into fourteen clusters. Clusters II and cluster XIV and cluster XII and cluster XIV, had maximum inter cluster distance. The characters viz.,effective pods per plant followed by biological yield per plant, plant height and 100-seed weight were main contribution to total divergence. Cluster XIV and cluster XIII had highest mean values for maximum number of characters. Based on the result IC 83812, EC 198729, EC 490027, IC 53245, IC 83827and IC 83889 are recommended for hybridization, as these genotypes showed good per se performance for seed yield and belong to the highly diverse clusters.

In this study 32 jute (Corchorus spp.) varieties comprised of 18 olitorius and 14 capsularis were evaluated and characterized for five quantitative and 12 qualitative characters as per revised official DUS Test Guidelines of Jute. The experimental materials were grown in a RBD with three replications at Baarrackpore, India during 2009-10. Significant differences among genotypes noted almost for almost all the quantitative traits. PCV and GCV were highest for 1000 seed weight (33.78 and 33.29%) followed by fibre fineness (27.11 and 26.70%). Low variability was recorded in case of plant height. All the five characters exhibited more or less high heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per cent over mean. Out of 12 qualitative characters studied, in C. capsularis 8 traits were monomorphic, 4 traits were dimorphic. However, in C. olitorius no trait was monomorphic, 6 traits were dimorphic and 6 traits were polymorphic among varieties indicating their potential for varietal characterization. Thirty five wild rice germplasm accessions collected from natural habitat of Eastern Indo-Gangetic region of India were evaluated to estimate their extent of genetic variability, agro-morphological divergence and relationship among themselves for 14 traits. The accessions showed significant genotypic coefficient of variation for all traits analyzed. The accessions were clustered into six groups, the cluster III contained the highest 12 accessions, and clusters I and IV comprised 11 and 7 accessions, respectively; while cluster II and VI have two accessions each, and clusters V was monogenotypic. The maximum intra-cluster distance was observed in cluster VI followed by clusters IV and II while in inter-cluster distance was observed between clusters V and VI followed by clusters II and V indicates wider genetic diversity between germplasm accessions. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per cent of mean was found in the traits filled grains per panicle, total number of grains per panicle and grain yield per plant. The result suggested that these accessions are valuable resource and can be utilized for yield and yield traits besides disease and pest.
