The experiment was performed at Research cum Instructional Farm, Shaheed Gundadhoor College of Agriculture and Research Station, Kumhrawand, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. A total of 56germplasm lines and 1 check variety of horsegram were assessed for 10 quantitative traits during kharif2018.Genotypes were grouped into eight clusters. Clusters VI had maximum intra cluster distance while inter cluster distance was maximum between cluster VI and cluster VIII. Cluster III and cluster VIII had highest mean values for seed yield per plant characters. The characters viz., pods per plant followed by days to maturity and seed yield per plant were main contribution to total divergence. Based on the result genotypes belonging to clusters II, III and VIII are recommended for hybridization, as these genotypes showed good performance for seed yield and belong to the diverse clusters.

A total of 434 germplasm lines of chickpea were assessed for 13 quantitative traits during rabi 2015-16 at JNKVV, Jabalpur. Genotypes were grouped into fourteen clusters. Clusters II and cluster XIV and cluster XII and cluster XIV, had maximum inter cluster distance. The characters viz.,effective pods per plant followed by biological yield per plant, plant height and 100-seed weight were main contribution to total divergence. Cluster XIV and cluster XIII had highest mean values for maximum number of characters. Based on the result IC 83812, EC 198729, EC 490027, IC 53245, IC 83827and IC 83889 are recommended for hybridization, as these genotypes showed good per se performance for seed yield and belong to the highly diverse clusters.

A field experiment was conducted comprising eighteen advanced lines of mustard in a randomized block design with three replication at Regional Agricultural Research Station, BARI, Hathazari, Chittagong during Rabi season (December 2009 to April 2010) for estimation of divergence among advanced lines of mustard. The genotypes were grouped into four clusters. Cluster I contained the highest number of genotypes (6) and the cluster III contained the lowest (3). The inter-cluster distances in all cases were larger than the intra-cluster distance which indicated that wider diversity was present among the genotypes of distant grouped. The highest intra cluster distance was observed in cluster II and the lowest in I. The highest inter cluster distance was observed between the cluster III and II followed by III and I and the lowest between cluster IV and III. Days to 50% flowering (81.94%), days to maturity (8.24%), plant height (5.82%), branches per plant (1.91%) and siliquae per plant (1.17%) contributed maximum towards the total divergence which suggested that these characters were highly responsible for genetic divergence in the present materials. But the highest cluster means for primary branches per plant and maximum seeds per siliquae with minimum seed yield per plant were obtained from the cluster II. The genotypes from cluster I had dwarf plant along with earliness in days to 50% flowering, days to maturity and maximum number of primary branches per plant. The genetic divergence was studied in33pummelogenotypes using D2 statistics and principal component analysis at Regional Agricultural Research Station, BARI, Akbarpur, Moulvibazar during 2012 to 2014. The genotypes were grouped into 5 clusters and the maximum number of genotypes was included in cluster IV and V and the minimum number in cluster I. The inter cluster distance in all of the cases were higher than the intra cluster distance indicating wider genetic diversity among the accessions of different groups. The highest inter-cluster distance was observed between cluster I and II followed by cluster II and V and the lowest between III and IV. The highest intra- cluster distance was observed for the cluster II and the lowest for the cluster III. For cluster II, the highest mean values for plant height (6.13m), individual fruit weight (1141.67g), fruit length (13.03 cm) and breadth (13.15 cm), number of segments per fruit (14.41), number and weight of seeds per fruit (123.67 and 50.41g), yield per plant (50.94 kg) were observed. The first axis largely accounted for the variation among the pummelo accessions (26.16%) followed by second axis (18.75%). The first 8 axes accounted 90.56 % of the total variation. The characters individual fruit weight (g) and weight of seeds per fruit (g) showing positive value in both the vectors contributed maximum towards divergence. Considering magnitude of genetic distance, contribution of different traits toward the total divergence, magnitude of cluster means for different traits and performance the genotypes of cluster I, II, and IV may be considered as parents for future hybridization program.Res. The experiment was carried out to determine the character association and path analysis with 20 genotype including national check namely GT-10, TKG-22, zonal check JTS-8. The genotype was grown in (RBD) design with 3 Replication during Kharif 2020 at BTC College of Agriculture and Research station Bilaspur CG. The data were collected for nine quantitative and yield attributing traits. The correlation co-efficient analysis is the index of relationship among two variables. These have been dealing in all possible combinations for important traits at genotypic and phenotypic levels. Seed yield plant-1 was highly significant and positively correlated with plant height, followed by number of primary branches plant-1, capsules length, number of capsules plant-1, number of seed capsule-1 days to maturity at genotypic and phenotypic levels. Path analysis at phenotypic level among the characters studied, plant height (cm) had the highest direct effect (0.7479) towards seed yield per plant followed by number of primary branches plant-1 (0.5868) capsule length (0.3827) no of capsule plant-1 (0.3521) number of seed capsule-1 (0.2818) days to maturity (0.289) negative direct effect were recorded for days to 50% flowering (-0.0327) 1000 seed weight (- 02147). Demonstrating the fact that there was a real and positive connection between these characters will help determine which type of character is needed for crop improvement.

Thirty yellow inbred lines of normal maize were evaluated for thirteen parameters at the experimental field of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University during 2010-11 to study the genetic divergence using multivariate analysis. The thirty inbreds fell into six distinct clusters. The intra-cluster distances in all the six clusters were more or less low, indicating that the genotypes within the same cluster were closely related. The highest inter-cluster distance was observed between cluster I and cluster IV and the lowest between the cluster II and III. The cluster V and cluster IV contained the highest (9) and lowest (1) number of genotypes, respectively. Cluster VI showed the highest mean values for kernel yield and all the yield contributing traits except days to 50% tasseling and 50% silking. Cluster II had the lowest mean values for ear height and ear length. Days to maturity and ear diameter showed maximum contribution towards total divergence among different characters. Based on medium to high inter-cluster distances, six inbred lines viz. ML06, ML10, ML14, MK19, ML25 and ML26 were selected for hybrid program. Sixty exotic inbred lines of maize from CIMMYT were characterized for a few morphological attributes and grain yield at the experimental field of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) during 2013-14. The inbred lines of the existing investigation were grouped into five distinct non-overlapping clusters based on D2 analysis. Cluster II was comprised of the highest number of inbreds whilst cluster III and IV included the lowest number of inbreds. The inter cluster distance was higher than intra cluster distance suggesting wider genetic diversity among the genotypes of different groups. The highest inter-cluster distance was exhibited between clusters II and V (D2 = 15.40) and the lowest inter-cluster distance was observed between clusters I and II (D2 = 2.82). Cluster II exhibited the highest mean values for cob length and cob diameter, cluster V for number of grain /cob and total grain weight. The lowest mean value for plant height & ear height were found in cluster II and cluster IV for days to pollen shedding and days to silking. Days to silking, plant height, cob length (cm), number of rows /cob, number of grains /cob showed maximum contribution towards total divergence among different characters. The inbred lines were characterized for their morphological traits and kernel yield to achieve more heterotic partners to get higher heterosis.Bangladesh J. Agril. The analysis of variance based on mean values of 10 characters namely, day to flower, number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, days to maturity, plant height (cm), number of siliquae per plant, number of seeds per siliquae, 1000-seed weight (g), oil content (%) and seed yield per plant (g) were studied for testing the significance of differences among the treatments. The mean sum of squares for all the characters. Highly significant differences were recorded among all the treatments for all the 10 characters except number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, days to maturity and oil content.

An experiment was conducted at the Research farm of Regional Agricultural Research Station, BARI, Hathazari, Chittagong during Rabi season (December to April), 2009-2010 for estimation of genetic variability, genetic parameters and correlation coefficient among different yield components in a randomized block design with three replications. Thirty four groundnut genotypes were tested in the experiment. Highly significant variations were observed among the genotypes for all the characters studied. The highest genetic coefficient of variation was observed for karnel yield per hectare, followed by karnel yield per plant, branches per plant, immature and mature nuts per plant, 100 kernal weight and plant height. The highest heritability was observed in karnel yield per pant (95.08%), followed by karnel yield per hectare (94.38%), 100 kernal weight (87.01%), immature and mature nuts per plant (82.24%, 80.32%), branches per plant (79.54%) and 100 nut weight (78.98%), while high values of genetic advance were obtained in all the characters except days to maturity and days to 50% flowering. The seed yield per plant showed the highly significant and positive association with nut size, number of nuts per plant, karnel size and days to 50% flowering. The number of mature nuts per plant had high positive direct effect on seed yield per hectare followed by nut size, shelling percentage, days to 50% flowering and days to maturity. Therefore, branches per plant, plant height, nuts per plant, nut size, karnel size, days to 50% flowering, shelling percentage and days to maturity were identified to be the important characters which could be used in selection for yield. The experiment on papaya (Carica papaya L.) consisting of fourteen genotypes from diversd gene pool was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Ishurdi, Pabna during April 2013 to May 2014 to study the nature and magnitude of genetic divergence and eventually identification of suitable genotypes for use in breeding program. Multivariate analysis was subjected to assess the genetic diversity and Mahalanobis’ generalized distance (D2) was used to assess the divergence present among the genotypes. The fourteen genotypes were grouped into four clusters. The cluster IV had the maximum genotypes (5) followed by cluster I having 4 genotypes and cluster II having 3 genotypes. Cluster III had the minimum genotypes (2). The inter-cluster distances were greater than intra-cluster distances in all cases, suggesting wider genetic diversity among the genotypes of different groups. The highest intracluster distance was observed in cluster III and the lowest in cluster II. The maximum inter-cluster distance was estimated between clusters I and IV (11.3212), moderate distance between clusters II and IV (9.961) and clusters III and IV (7.568), and that of the lowest between clusters I and III. Cluster III recorded the highest mean values for fruit length, plant height at last harvest, number of fruits/plant, weight of fruits/plant and fruit yield, while cluster IV exhibited the maximum mean values for pulp thickness, plant height at 1st harvest and the second highest mean values for fruit length, fruit breadth and TSS. Therefore, more emphasis should be given on cluster III for selecting genotypes as parents for crossing with the genotypes of cluster IV which may produce new recombinants with desired traits.Bangladesh J. The present investigation was carried out using thirty two pigeonpea genotypes during kharif 2013-14 to obtain the knowledge of correlation, path coefficient analysis for the yield components and genetic divergence. The range of GCV was observed from 9.81 to 40.88% for the traits under study which provides information regarding the extent of variability present among the genotypes. Seed yield was significantly and positively correlated with number of secondary branches/plant, pods/plant and 100-seed weight. Path coefficient analysis indicated that number of secondary branches exhibited maximum direct effect followed by number of pods/plant and 100 seed weight. The genotypes were grouped into eight different clusters based on Mahalonobis D2 statistics. Clusters II and III exhibited maximum inter cluster distance of 8.80. Days to 50% flowering contributed to maximum genetic divergence followed by seed yield. Genotypes in cluster III recorded highest mean value for days to maturity, number of secondary branches and seed yield.
