We present a female patient with pregnancy associated with normal live birth and the unusual concomitance of chorangioma. It was an incidental finding during the routine microscopic examination of the placenta of the 30 year multipara whose pregnancy was clinically normal. She was admitted to the Bangladesh Medical College Hospital for labor at 34 weeks gestation. She was investigated thoroughly because of irregular pervaginal bleeding before delivary. Caesarian section was done at 37th weeks of pregnancy. The placenta was found enlarged, irregular and haemorrhagic. Histopathological examination from the sections of specimen was done and diagnosed as Chorangioma. The case is presented as below.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jom.v14i2.19671 J Medicine 2013, 14(2): 185-186

A 25 years old male attended the skin & VD outpatient department of Khulna Medical College Hospital on 16th June, 2013 with complaints of multiple asymptomatic small rounded firm, cystic nodules that are adherent to the overlying skin of scortum. The microscopic examination of the cystic nodules showed the features of steatocystoma multiplex. This disorder, although it is asymptomatic, is a cosmetic threat to the patient. Only a few cases of the patients with an autosomal dominant mutation, who had keratin 17; have been reported. We are reporting here a case of steatocystoma multiplex of scortum in a 25 years old male along with review of literature.J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2015; 33(4): 218-221

The purpose of this article was to present a case report of 11–year old female patient with a large osteolytic mandibular lesion which healed after endodontic treatment. The patient was referred for radio diagnostics due to an incidental finding of a large osteolytic lesion of the area of the left lower first and second premolars in the panoramic radiograph taken before orthodontic treatment. CBCT was performed and the patient asked to have teeth 33-35 treated by endodontics before surgery. The patient missed the surgical appointment and when she reappeared several months later, the lesion showed signs of healing thus surgery were aborted. The presented case testifies to the observation that even large osteolytic lesions can heal after endodontic treatment without surgical approach.

Hydatid disease is a parasitic disease, which is most commonly caused by Echinococcus granulosus. It is endemic in many parts of the world. However, Hydatid disease can occur in almost any part of the body. Isolated omenal hydatid cyst is one of the least common sites. A case of very unusual omental hydatid cyst is presented here which was diagnosed in the Department of Radiology & Imaging, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka, and subsequently confirmed by histopathology. Background: Lymphatic filariasis is caused by a mosquito-borne parasite affecting roughly 100 million people round the world. There is consensus that hydrocele is the most frequent clinical manifestation of bancroftian filariasis. In endemic areas, about 40% of men are suffering from testicular hydrocele. With this background, the present study was aimed to find the incidence of filariasis in clinically diagnosed primary vaginal hydrocele. Methods: A hospital based prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted with 60 patients diagnosed clinically as primary vaginal hydrocele coming to the department of surgery, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune, to assess the incidence of filariasis.Results: Anti-filarial antibody and circulating filarial antigen in serum were detected in 5 (8.3%). Out of 60 patients and anti-filarial antibody was detected in hydrocele fluid of 2 (3.3%) patients. 2 patients out of these 5 showed microfilaria in peripheral blood smear and eosinophilic infiltrates in histopathological examination of sac. Conclusions: In 5 out of 60 cases both anti-filarial antibody and circulating filarial antigen in serum are positive thus proving that incidence of filarial hydrocele is 8% in clinically diagnosed primary vaginal hydrocele which is supposed to be idiopathic. Even though these cases have presented as clinically primary vaginal hydrocele, they are found to be filarial hydrocele after analysis of serum and hydrocele fluid. So, it is advised that all cases of clinically diagnosed primary vaginal hydroceles should be investigated for filariasis and if not, may lead to recurrence in these cases.

Lobectomy of liver is indicated for different conditions; mainly malignancy and trauma. Though it is highly specialized operation and preferably be performed in specialized tertiary center, sometime a general surgeon may not be in a position to avoid the surgery due to very low socioeconomic condition or to tackle emergency traumatic condition. Two case report of Lobectomy of liver; right lobectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma, and left lobectomy for left lobe big cyst and multiple stones in it were performed at Chittagong Medical College Hospital utilizing the existing facilities. Both patients recovered uneventfully. Case I expired after two month and fourteen day, Case II leading a pain free cheerful normal life. Experience of management of these two cases of resection of liver is recorded at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. DOI: 10.3329/jbcps.v26i3.4201 J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2008; 26: 153-157

Background: Endometrial diseases ranked among the most common gynecological disorders that affect women globally. This study was undertaken to identify the most common pathologies identified in hysterectomy specimens.Materials & Methods: The present study was conducted in the Department of Pathology, Anwer Khan Modern Medical College, Dhaka over a period of 6 months from July to December 2013. Ninety eight (98) hysterectomy specimens were received by the pathology department during this period. On receiving the hysterectomy specimens, the gross features were noted. A detailed microscopic examination was done to arrive at an accurate diagnosis.Result: Most of the women 54% were 40-49 years age group followed by 25% in 30-39 years age group. Chronic cervicitis and adenomyosis were the commonest pathological findings in (80.6%) and (32.7%) respectively. Other pathologies identified include Leiomyoma (23.5%), endometrial hyperplasia (17.4%), endometrial polyp (4.1%) and PID with hemorrhagic infection (1.0%). Two cases of carcinoma cervix (2.0%), two local invasion of tumors (2.0%) and one adenocarcima (1.0%) was found. Type of operation most common is total hysterectomy with oophorectomy (51.0%).Conclusion: Hysterectomy still remains the widely used treatment modality even in developed countries. The ultimate diagnosis is only on histology, so every hysterectomy specimen should be subjected to histopathological examination. Benign pathologies are more common than their malignant counterparts and the most common pathologies identified in hysterectomy specimens are chronic cervicitis, adenomyosis and leiomyoma.Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Journal Vol. 8, No. 1: Jan 2017, P 6-9

Genito-urinary tuberculosis is an infrequent but not uncommon condition in countries with high incidence of tuberculosis like Bangladesh. A female patient of 25 years was admitted into Faridpur Medical college Hospital with acute retention of urine with history of haematuria, dysuria, fever and difficulty in urination for about three years. USG revealed few masses in the urinary bladder, later proved by histopathological examination as granulomatous lesion consistent with tuberculosis. Anti-TB treatment was given and the masses were removed surgically. With this treatment recovery of the patient is satisfactory and symptoms are disappearing. The aim of this study to make internist more efficient to diagnose the disease by strong clinical suspicion and relevant laboratory investigation, otherwise such uncommon disease and its complications may endanger life of such patient. Molar-incisor malformation (MIM) is a dental anomaly that has recently been presented in the literature. It features morphological root abnormalities affecting the permanent first molars, resulting in narrow, shortened or almost completely absent roots in patients who interestingly still present with clinically normal crowns. In some cases, this condition also involves the roots of the deciduous second molars in a similar manner and the maxillary central incisors may exhibit notching around the cervical region of the clinical crown. Root dysplasia of the permanent first molars compromises the long-term survival of these teeth and, in itself, presents a challenge when attempting to undertake any orthodontic treatment. This case report describes an incidental finding of a patient presenting with similar features to that of MIM, discusses the features and clinical implications of this newly discovered condition, and highlights the importance of undertaking a comprehensive radiological investigation before treatment.
