This research is done because the mean of pretest speaking is 65.73. The KKM is 75.00. The problems of this research are: 1) Can the use of a Debate Method increase the students’ Speaking Skill on Discussion Text at class XII   SMAN 1 Bengkulu?. 2) How is the effectiveness of procedures of Using a Debate Method to Increase the Students’Speaking skill on Discussion Text at class XII  SMAN 1 Bengkulu? The aims of this research are: 1).To increase the students’ speaking skill on Discussion Text at class XII  SMAN 1 Bengkulu. 2).To find out how the effective procedure of using a debate method to increase the students’ speaking skill on discussion text at class XII SMAN 1 Bengkulu. This classroom action research which uses descriptive qualitative technique. This method uses pre-test and two cycles. Each cycle consists of four steps: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The source of the data is the teacher, collaborator as observer and students, and the result of the test. The total of the students are 35 students. Technique and collecting data uses observation and test.The result of classroom action research from observation cycle 1 is not good, that is 65%. And the result speaking test cycle1 is not good either, the mean score is 74.93%. 2 students get score 55-64, and the percentage is 5.71%. 12 students get score 65-74, and the percentage is 34.29%. 21 students get score 75-84 and the percentage is 60%. N0ne get score 85-94. The result of observation cycle 2 is good, that is 89%, and so is the result speaking test cycle 2, and the mean score is 80,64% .None of  students get score below 75, and the percentage means 0%, 31 students get score 75-84, and the percentage is 88,57%. 4students get score 85-94, and the percentage is 11.43%. And even thought none student gets score 95-100 ,but the result is satisfied. The mean is 80,64. From the observation result of the test cycle 2 shows that the success of the learning process is good. KKM for English is 75.00, so the learning activity of students is fulfilled for the KKM.  From the result of the cycle test 2, the mean score is 80,64% , learning activity uses a Debate Method to Increase the students’ speaking skill on Discussion Text at class XII IPS 2 SMAN 1 Bengkulu  semester 1 academic year 2017-2018 is successful.

This study deals with the improving students’ speaking achievement in agreement and disagreement expressions by using problem solving strategy. The objective of this study is to find out whether students’ speaking achievement in expressing agreement and disagreement improved by problem solving strategy. The effectiveness of problem solving strategy are to make the students able to help them in solving their own and friends’ problems, especially classmates’ problem by expressing agree or disagree to the solution made and students be more active in the classroom. The findings of this study are important and useful for English teachers to improve students’ interest and ability in speaking by problem solving strategy and the researcher who wants to conduct the research related to this study. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this research was the second grade of SMP Swasta HKBP Sidorame Medan which consisted of 38 students. The research was conducted in two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle consisted of the four steps of an action research: planning, action, observation and reflection. The instruments for collecting data used speaking test by interview and for the quantitative data and used diary notes, observation sheet and interview sheet for qualitative data. Based on the speaking test result, the students score kept improving in every test. In the orientation test the mean of the students’ score was 22.3. In the post test cycle I the mean of the students’ score was 56.3 and in the post test cycle II the mean of the students’ score was 85. Based on the observation sheet, diary notes and interview sheet, it was found that teaching learning process ran well. The conclusion is that Problem Solving Strategy improves students’ speaking achievement.

Abstract   This classroom action research was done in the area of speaking.  It was found that the eleventh grade students of SMAN 8 Denpasar got difficulty  in communicating and delivering ideas. The objective of this study was to figure out whether or not speaking  skill of the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 8 Denpasar in academic year 2017/2018 could be improved  through  British  Parliamentary  Style Debate Technique.  The research was undertaken based on the result of the interview with the teacher who taught the students. Pre-test was then carried out, and it was found that the subjects’ speaking skill was low. In order to settle down the problem, British Parliamentary Style Debate Technique was implemented as the technique to improve the subjects’ speaking skill. The study was conducted in two cycles. Furthermore, the result of post- test in each cycle showed that there were significant improvements on the subjects’ speaking skill after British  Parliamentary  Style  Debate technique  was applied. After the treatment of pre-test, the reflection or post-test was administered.   The mean figure of the reflection or post-test scores obtained by the subjects under study in cycle I was 70.52. and in cycle  II  was  78.34. In addition, based on the data of the questionnaire, the subjects’ responses towards the application of the technique was positive.  Therefore, it could be concluded that speaking skill of the eleventh- grade students of SMAN 8 Denpasar in academic year 2017/2018 could be improved through British Parliamentary Style Debate Technique. This research was aimed to explain the improvement of the students’ speaking fluency and the students’ speaking accuracy through the of discussion technique in teaching speaking. The research was implemented in SMP Pondok Pesantren Darul Aman Gombara Makassar at the eighth-grade students through a classroom action research (CAR). The researcher took 33 students as the subject of the research. The researcher taught speaking English using practice posters. To find the results, the researcher got the information from the students’ answers on oral test in the form of D-test, the test of a cycle I and test of cycle II. The result of the research using Practice Posters showed that the researcher used the CAR (Classroom Action Research) principle to collect the data. The research conducted through two cycles with each cycle consisted of four meetings. By implementing Practice Posters as a media in teaching speaking, the students had chanced to be active and cooperative in learning speaking so that the students’ speaking accuracy and the students’ speaking fluency achievement were improved significantly. It could be seen from the result of the students’ activities during the action, and the students’ speaking achievement in speaking. The mean score of the students’ speaking D - Test was 3.67. It was categorized as fair classification (low ability). While the mean score of the students’ speaking test in cycle I was 5.02. It is higher than the mean score of the students’ speaking test.  But the result was not significant from the result which was expected according to the background namely 6.5, so the research was continued to the cycle II and the mean score of the students’ speaking achievement of cycle II was 7.16. It was categorized as good. It also indicated that there was a significant score from the result expected in the background namely 6.5. The result above was acquired from the students’ speaking ability in terms of speaking accuracy and speaking fluency.

The study is aimed at describing the effectiveness of two stay and two stray in enhancing students’speaking ability. The paper is derived from the research result conducted among 30 students of SMK Budi Bakti Utama Padalarang. Classroom action research design with 2 cycles was applied to encourage students’ speaking skill. Observation checklist, fieldnote and speaking test instruments were used to catch on students’ progress (reflection and evaluation) . Observation was finished to see how clear the strategy was understood and performed by the leraners. Fieldnote aimed at jotting down success and restraint of the strategy usage and tes instrument was managed to assess the grading and scoring development whole the first and second cycles. Reflecting and evaluating were organized at the end of every cycle. Based on observation and fieldnote that the students’participation were getting upgraded in every cycle. Besides, the average score and grade at the end of 2 cycles were getting improved. Mean score of cycle 1 was 59.00, and cycle 2 was 65.00. It could be concluded that two stay and two stray strategy boosted speaking ability for English department students of SMK Budi Bakti Utama Padalarang in academic year 2018/2019.

This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.

The aim of this research was to find out whether or not the Speaking Skill of the 3rd grade students of Cipta Dharma Elementary School could be improved through Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) and Picture Series in Academic Year 2016/2017. This Research used a Classroom Action Research with the total 36 students taken as subject. The result was, in Pre Cycle 52.78% (19 students); in Cycle 1 69.44% (25 students); and in Cycle 2 88.89% (32 students) reached the minimum completeness learning mastery. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the subject’s Speaking Skill could be improved the implementation of STAD and Picture Series.

This research was conducted to solve students’ problem in speaking especially the students never practiced to speak each other. The researcher applied the three-step interview technique in improving their speaking ability. The instruments were speaking test, observation sheet and questionnaire. The researcher applied Classroom Action Research. It consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consisted four meetings and four steps. The steps included plan, action, observation, and reflection.The result of the research in the first cycle showed that the students’ achievement and performance were so low. It could be seen from the students’ score in the first cycle was 2.74. the highest score in the first cycle was 4 which were acquired by three students but the highest score at the end of the second cycle was 5.3 which was acquired by 4 students. The lowest score in the first cycle was 1.7 which acquired by one student and the lowest score in the second cycle was 3.3 which was acquired by four students. Based on the data, the researcher concluded that three-step interview technique could increase the students’ ability in speaking. This technique had proven that three-step interview technique was a successful technique to help students in speaking.

<p>The objectives of this research are to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery and the student’s activeness in speaking through Engage, Study and Activate Method at the second year students of SMP Negeri 26Makassar. This research used Classroom Action Research that comprises of two cycles. The research population is the second year students of SMP Negeri 26 Makassar, and the sample of this research comprises of 25 students. The researcher obtained the data by using a speaking test and observation sheet.The results of this research show that there is animprovement in students' vocabularybetween the cycle I and Cycle II. The mean scores of students in the diagnostic test are 4.7 became 6.21 in cycle I, and after doing a revision in the cycle II the mean score in cycle II is7.45 then the activeness of students also improve from first meeting 53 % became 92% in the last meeting and achieved the minimal criteria, 65. The research findings indicate that the use of Engage, Study and Activate method can enrich the students’ vocabulary mastery and improve the students’ activeness in speaking.</p>

Writing is a difficult skill for the students at SMPN 26 Makassar. It could be seen from the result of a diagnostic test which showed the ability of the second year students of SMPN 26 Makassar in writing paragraphs was still poor. The students were unable to express their ideas well in making descriptive texts. The research used Classroom Action Research that consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. It conducted in two cycles in which each cycle comprised four meetings. The subjects of this research were 28 students of the second year students of SMPN 26 Makassar.The findings indicated that the students’ ability to write descriptive text in cycle 1 has not reached the score target because the mean score of the students was 66.52 that classified as “fairly good” whereas, In cycle 2 the students’ mean score was 75.26. It indicated that the score target has been reached and classified as “Good”. Therefore, the researcher suggested the English teacher apply Four Square Writing Method as one of the alternative ways of teaching writing subject in the classroom especially in teaching the descriptive text.

The research aimed at finding out the improvement of students’ speaking ability through Case Presentation at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Libureng Bone. The method of this research was classroom action research that consisted of two cycles. One cycle consisted of four meetings. It means that there were eight meeting in two cycles. This classroom action research was done at SMA Negeri 1 Libureng Bone for English subject. The subject research was 39 students of senior high school in 2012-2013 academic years. Those consist of 26 women and 13 men. Instruments are speaking test and observation sheet. The findings of this research were the improvement of the students’ speaking ability in terms of speaking accuracy and speaking fluency in which the mean score of diagnostic test was 5.30, the mean score of cycle I was 6.27 and the mean score of cycle II was 7.29. The result above indicated that there was significant improvement of the students’ speaking ability in terms of speaking accuracy and speaking fluency in the application of case presentation method at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Libureng Bone.
