The article is devoted to the media competence training of the German nursing personnel with the implementation of modern digital media, namely: the MeCoPflege e-learning platform developed on the basis of the Moodle electronic platform. Implementation of the latest digital media in nursing education and nursing practice in Ukraine has been a problem for a long time. It should be noted that the subject matter of media competence training of the German nursing personnel, as well as the use of modern digital media in nursing education and nursing practice in Germany, has not yet been the subject of a special study by the Ukrainian scholars. In Germany, a two-year project “MeCoPflege – Media Coaches for the Professional Field of Nursing” was launched to promote the professionalization of nursing personnel, train its media competence, and integrate digital technologies into work processes. This article covers the implementation of the MeCoPflege e-learning platform within the framework of the project “MeCoPflege” in nursing practice on the example of one of the hospitals in Germany. In addition, the article describes in more detail the implementation of the project “MeCoPflege” in the theoretical and practical training of nursing personnel on the example of one of the nursing schools. Moreover, the best employees in the area of nursing education and nursing practice were participants in the blended learning seminars. The training content and the topics of the workshops deserve particular attention in the article. We consider an interesting idea of creating a similar native version of the MeCoPflege platform based on the electronic platform Moodle with the aim to train media competence of nursing personnel in Ukraine.

Due to the transition of higher educational institutions to remote functioning in the spring of 2020 and the impossibility of conducting nursing practice on the basis of medical establishments it became necessary to create a new form of having classes that would allow students to master practical skills without contacting patients. The article presents the author's methodology of remote practical training in class to obtain professional skills and experience of professional activity (nursing) at the medical faculty. The author offers simple methods of making moulages for students to master practical skills and describes the methodology of organizing and conducting distance classes using these moulages. The pedagogical analysis of one of the classes is carried out. It is shown that the new form of conducting classes allows to individualize the work with students and help each student achieve perfection in mastering the methods of nursing manipulations. The method of giving remote classes described by the author can be used by teachers at practical training in the future, in classes on “nursing” at the medical faculty, in institutes of higher nursing education, and after the removal of epidemiological restrictions imposed due to the spread of a new coronavirus infection, for remote counseling of students undergoing nursing practice in medical establishments outside the Saratov region.

Web-based learning environments have become an integral part of learning. The way that they are employed in the learning process, or in other words the learning strategy followed in that respect, is an important issue that has to be carefully thought of, deciding upon topics such as suitable pedagogical approaches and appropriate assessment techniques for a given context. The chapter deals with this exact issue by visiting the relevant literature on the subject, describing selected learning strategies that have been employed in the use of an innovative eLearning platform in schools in Europe and finally outlining and comparing two real case studies from two European countries.

Background: The rapid development of technology has compelled tertiary institutions to devise innovative teaching strategies to meet the students’ needs and market’s demands. Recently, the Covid-19 pandemic is forcing educational instructions to shift from in-person to online learning. E-learning is one of the areas advancing rapidly and which provide promises in nursing education. The aim of this study was to develop a middle-range theory to guide the utilisation of an e-learning platform in nursing education in the context of Rwanda. Methods: A grounded theory approach, following Strauss and Corbin, was used. The study population included nurse educators, nursing students, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) managers, and experts in e-learning and nursing education. The sample size consisted of 40 participants. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, focus group discussion and document analysis. Data analysis was guided by Strauss and Corbin’s grounded theory framework, which facilitated the middle-range theory development. Results: Implementation of e-learning in nursing education emerged as the central concept in this model. E-learning was viewed as a mechanism to advance the country’s political agenda to integrate technology in higher education, a tool to widen access to nursing education, a student-centred approach, and blended learning. The implementation of e-learning was facilitated by catalyst agents such as institutional support, e-readiness, partnerships and collaboration, policies and regulations, effective working learning management system, and bridging the digital divide. Integration of e-learning in nursing education was expected to improve nursing education quality and increase competent nurses and midwives graduates. Conclusions: This study highlights the importance of e-learning in nursing education. The adoption of the innovative, technology-enabled nursing education models would augment capacity to scale up nursing and midwifery education, enhance the quality and relevance of training, and adopt equity-focused policies. This model is a tool to facilitate the establishment of a supported network learning space in nursing education in a fluid and dynamically changing nursing practice context.

Background: The implantation of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) leads to the specialization of nurses in this surgical field. However, there is no standard curriculum of MIS Nursing in Europe. Spanish and Portuguese nurses are inexperienced and have poor training in MIS. For that, a blended learning course for nursing education in MIS (Lapnurse) has been developed. This work aims to detail the course design and to preliminary validate by experts its online theoretical module. Methods: Lapnurse consists of an online module with nine theoretical lessons and a face-to-face module with three practical lessons. The e-learning environment created to provide the online module, with didactic contents based on surgical videos and innovative 3D designs, has been validated by two technicians (functionality) and four nurses with teaching experience in MIS (usability and content). Results: The E-learning platform meets all technical requirements, provides whole and updated multimedia contents correctly applied for educational purposes, incorporates interactivity with 3D designs, and has an attractive, easy-to-use and intuitive design. Conclusions: The lack of knowledge in MIS of Spanish and Portuguese nurses could be addressed by the blended learning course created, Lapnurse, where the e-learning environment that provides theoretical training has obtained a positive validation.

This chapter presents an e-learning teaching/learning activity to support the traditional activities at school. It was developed as a part of a P.O.R. project (Piano Operativo Regionale) of the Regione Sicilia for the Mathematics subject. The experiment was conducted at Libero Grassi school (Istituto Tecnico Commerciale Statale) in Palermo, Italy. The designated e-learning platform is the open source system, Moodle. The main purpose of the formative activity is to reduce students’ educational gap, which may generate “educational debits” at the end of the school year. If the students do not overcome these debits, they are not admitted to the next year. This activity took place during the second four-month term of the 2010/11 academic year. Results were excellent; no students had any educational debits. There was also an improvement in the students’ attitude towards the subject in the collaborative and cooperative approach between the students and the teacher. It was also positive for the rest of the class.

The paper defines the scientific provisions on the feasibility and effectiveness of using e-learning under conditions of quarantine restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was proved that within the use of e-learning there has been a convergence between the scientific and methodological bases and the learning process itself, and new approaches to the general didactic and information content of e-learning courses within the education process have been formed. Modern platforms of e-learning are examined and a scheme involving the synchronous technology of e-learning was formed. Within the framework of the suggested learning platform, effective learning tools under conditions of quarantine restrictions were identified, the use of which allows the most successful solution of didactic tasks facing e-learning to be ensured on the basis of the everyday use of digital media and electronic devices for learning purposes. The fractal-cluster technology of an e-learning organization was suggested for an introduction. The functional dependencies on the forms and technologies of the educational process for the efficiency of higher education were obtained. The expediency of introducing fractal-cluster structures into the organizational component of the educational process was determined. Based on the tools of the fractal-cluster approach, a model of organization of the educational process in the information-entropy format was formulated.
