Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas metode pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual dalam hal keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas VIII Sekolah Menengah Atas di Kecamatan Kontukowuna, Kabupaten Muna, Sulawesi Tenggara pada tahun 2016/2017. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui penyediaan empat item pertanyaan instrumen tes keterampilan berpikir kritis, di mana setiap pertanyaan mewakili indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis dan lembar observasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji t satu sampel. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa nilai uji t 2,719> (t_0,05,27) = 2,0518, yang dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing efektif dalam hal kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMP. Hasil ini didukung oleh peningkatan rata-rata pretest 27,66 ke posttest 76,00 yang lebih tinggi dari kriteria penguasaan mengajar minimum (KKM) dari 70. Abstract This study aimed to test the effectiveness of guided discovery learning method using a contextual approach in terms of students' critical thinking skills of SMP. Type of research used was quasi experiment. Population in this research was all VIII grader students of Senior High School in sub-district Kontukowuna, Muna districts, Southeast Sulawesi in 2016/2017. Data collection was obtained through the provision of four items of question of critical thinking skills test instrumen, where each question represents an indicator of critical thinking ability and observation sheet of learning implementation. Research result was analyzed using one sample t test. The findings showed that t test value 2,719> (t_0.05,27) = 2.0518, which can be concluded that the guided discovery learning method was effective in terms of the critical thinking ability of junior high school students. This result was supported by the increase of average of pretest 27.66 to posttest 76.00 which was higher than the minimum teaching mastery criteria (KKM) of 70.

This research is aimed to develop learning device of Guided Discovery model with PhET simulation to trill students critical thinking skill. This research uses 4D development model and tested on 15 students of class XII IPA with test design using one group pretest-posttest design. Learning tools developed include: (a) syllabus (b) RPP, (c) student books, (d) LKS, and (e) tests students' critical thinking skills. Research data obtained through validation method, observation, test, and questionnaire. The results are analyzed descriptively quantitative and qualitative. The students' critical thinking ability is analyzed by n-gain. The result of the research shows that (a) learning device developed categorized is very valid, (b) learning activity is done very well, (c) critical thinking ability of students have moderate improvement, and (d) students respond very positively to learning which has been implemented. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it was concluded that the learning device of Guided Discovery with PhET simulation model developed is feasible to be used for trained critical thinking skills of high school students.

The background of this research is, there is no learning model that can optimally support critical thinking skills, so it takes an innovative learning model. In this case, the researchers used web helped to guide discovery learning model to improve the critical thinking skills of the student in class X SMAN 4 Praya in academic year 2019/2020. This study aimed to find an effect of web assisted guided discovery learning on trigonometry material to critical thinking ability of the student in class X SMAN 4 Praya in academic year 2019/2020. This study use a quantitative research approach to the type of experimental research. In this experiment the researchers used a quasi-experimental, and uses two classes as a research, the experimental class and control class. The population of this research is all the student in class X SMAN 4 Praya and and choose two class as a sample class that is X MIPA 5 as a experimental class and X MIPA 3 as control class. Student in experimental class used web assisted guided discovery learning model and in control class used guided discovery without web assisted. The result of the research showed that the average of critical thinking ability in the experimental class is better than control class which is in the experimental class is in the less effective category and control class in ineffective category.

<p><em>This type of research is classroom action research. The purpose of this study was to improve critical thinking skills in science by applying the Discovery Learning model. The results showed that the application of the Discovery Learning model can improve critical thinking skills in science. The percentage of critical thinking skills in the very good, good, adequate, and poor categories. In pre-cycle it was 41%, cycle I was 68%, increased in cycle II to 86%, and increased again in cycle III was 95%.</em><em></em></p>

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada konsep suhu, kalor dan perpindahan kalor. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari tiga siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA 3 yang berjumlah 26 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi untuk aktivitas belajar siswa dan soal tes kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas belajar siswa pada siklus I dengan rata-rata skor sebesar 25 dalam kategori baik, siklus II sebesar 27,5 dalam kategori baik, dan siklus III sebesar 29 dalam kategori baik. Hasil tes ketemampuan berpikir kritis siswa skor rata-rata kelas per siklus mengalami peningkatan tiap siklusnya. Pada siklus I diperoleh hasil sebesar 70,57 dengan kategori cukup, siklus II diperoleh hasil sebesar 82,30 dengan kategori baik, pada siklus III diperoleh hasil sebesar 90,57 dengan kategori sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Discovery Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan aktivitas belajar siswaKata Kunci : Model Discovery Learning, Aktivitas Belajar Siswa, Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis ABSTRACT This research was aimed to improve students' critical thinking skills on the concepts of temperature, heat and heat transfer. This research was a classroom action research that conducted in four stages, namely planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. The subjects in this study were all students of class XI IPA 3, amounting to 26 students. The instrument used was an observation sheet for student learning activities and test questions for students' critical thinking skills. The results of this study indicated that student learning activities in the first cycle with an average score of 25 in the good category, the second cycle of 27.5 in the good category, and the third cycle of 29 in the good category. The results of students' critical thinking skills test scores on average per class has increased each cycle. In cycle I obtained results of 70.57 with enough categories, cycle II obtained results of 82.30 with good categories, in cycle III obtained results of 90.57 with very good categories. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the application of discovery learning models can improve critical thinking skills and student learning activitiesKeywords: Discovery Learning Model, Student Learning Activities, Critical Thinking Ability

Since Indonesian students’ critical thinking skills in junior high school is still in unexpected level, it should be improved through teaching and learning process. The objective of the study is finding out the influence of problem centered learning approach toward students’ mathematical critical thinking ability. Every student should have mathematical critical thinking skills to make mathematics lessons are easier. Using the critical thinking skills will help students improving problem solving skills. However, the current critical thinking ability of junior high school students is still low. This research used quasi experimental design with Static Group Comparation type. The research sample consisted of two classes with each class of 35 students. The research instrument consists of six questions which indicate a mathematical critical thinking ability. Data analysis of this study used the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the study indicate that there is an effect of the problem-centered learning approach on the students' mathematical critical thinking ability with testing criteria is high.

This study aims to determine the feasibility of teaching materials oriented critical thinking ability grade XI SMA developed. This research includes research and development with 3D development model (define, design and develop). The teaching materials developed were validated based on aspects of material feasibility, language and media by experts using validation sheets in accordance with BSNP standards and then the validated teachng materials were distributed to two teachers and grade XI students at Sultan Agung Private High School and SMAN 1 Pematangsiantar to find out the response of teachers and students using questionnaires. The results of the study found that expert validation of teaching materials developed has an average score of 4.17 in terms of content feasibility, 4.20 for the aspect of presentation feasibility, 4.33 for the linguistic aspect and 4.19 from the aspect of graphation. While students' response to critical thinking ability-oriented module teaching materials had average scores of 3.80 and 3.82 and teacher responses averaged a score of 4.27, judging by interest indicators, material indicators and language indicators. These results show that the critical thinking ability-oriented teaching materials developed have met valid and good criteria for use. Critical thinking is one of the high-level thinking stages that can be interpreted as a process of thinkingprecisely, directed, reasoned, and reflective in decision-making that can be trusted. This study was aimed todetermine the improvement of critical thinking skills toward Guided Discovery Learning model of grade VIIIstudents at MTs Al-Huda Pekanbaru on light material. The type of research used was experimental research.Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. This analysis gave the description about influence ofGuided Discovery Learning model toward student's critical thinking ability. The subjects of this study were58 students. The data was collected based on critical thinking skill's test result which consisted of 15 essayquestions for 5 indicators after Guided Discovery Learning model was applied on experiment class andconventional model on control class. Mean score of sudents' critical thinking ability on experiment class was78.45 which was in a high category and average score of students' critical thinking skill on control class was70.52 which was in low category. Based on the result of students' critical thinking skill, it can be concludedthat there was an improvement of critical thinking ability after guided discovery learning model was appliedby 11.24% compared to conventional learning model.

Active learning with student centering can improve critical thinking skills. Debates and discussions encourage active learning. Both are oriented toward critical thinking ability, in addition to the learning styles also make an impact on critical thinking ability. This paper aims to answer whether there are (1) differences in students critical thinking ability in the debate class and discussion class, (2) differences in critical thinking ability of students who have divergent learning styles and convergent learning style, and (3) interaction between learning method and learning style to critical thinking ability? This study uses a pseudo experimental design. Subjects in this study are students semester II. Analytical technique using Anova. The results of this study conclude: (1) there is no difference in critical thinking ability between debating class and discussion class, (2) there is difference of critical thinking ability between convergent learning style and divergent learning style, convergent learning style is better than divergent learning style, and (3) there is interaction between learning method and learning style to critical thinking ability which means that the influence of learning method on critical thinking ability is influenced by learning style.
