Beyond eyesight: communicative competence of senior high school student with visual impairment

Research on the performance of students with visual impairment based on educational setting has not been conducted. It was the purpose of this paper to find out the communicative competence of senior high school student with visual impairment. This student including his mother, teacher, classmate and schoolmate participated in the research undertaking. Case study was the mode of inquiry in this study. It utilized triangulation method such as classroom observation, interview and review of available documents. As a result of this study, it was found out that the student has high communicative competence. This means that he is competent communicator in the context in public, meeting, and group or dyad to strangers, acquaintances or friends. It was also suggested that further studies should assess the differential impact of a variety of courses on students’ communication competencies in diverse contexts and describe a communication approach to develop communicative competency of student with visual impairment.

Kemampuan abstraksi reflektif matematis siswa pada materi bangun ruang

This study aims to determine the ability of reflective mathematical abstraction which consists of the ability to apply concepts, the ability to make relationships between concepts to form new meanings, and the ability to manipulate abstract mathematical objects. This research is a qualitative research with type of case study. The sample used in this study was one senior high school student of class X. The method of collecting data to find the results of the study was to use a test instrument for building questions and interviews. These instruments are validated first using Expert Judgment Validation. The results obtained by indicator one and indicator two, student still find it difficult to understand the concept and choose which other concept is suitable to obtain a solution. Meanwhile, on the third indicator student can manipulate abstract mathematical objects. So that the student' mathematical abstraction ability is still quite good.

Dream Big: Effects of Capitals, Socioeconomic Status, Negative Culture, and Educational Aspirations Among the Senior High School Student Athletes

To understand the impact of social, financial, cultural capitals, negative culture, and socioeconomic status of families on educational aspiration in the senior high school student athletes, it will be beneficial to promote their career developments. The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of ethnicity, year of sport experience family income, the educational expectations of significant others, and the three aforementioned types of capital on educational aspiration among the senior high school student athletes. This study was conducted with a sample of 262 U-18 male baseball student athletes. Of the participants, 20.20% had attained the qualifications to play on the national team. The results showed that monthly family income positively affected social capital and positively indirectly affected educational aspirations through social capital, whereas monthly family income negatively affected negative culture and positively affected educational aspirations through negative culture. Moreover, social capital positively affected educational aspirations compared with negative culture negatively affected educational aspirations. The results serve as a reference for the formulation of educational policy as it relates to student athletes.

PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR FISIKA MELALUI PENDEKATAN STEM BERORIENTASI HOTS PADA MATERI USAHA DAN ENERGI

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar fisika melalui pendekatan STEM berorientasi HOTS di SMAN Kota Bengkuku pada materi usaha dan energi. Produk yang dihasilkan berupa bahan ajar yang dapat digunakan guru dan siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan metode Sugiyono Level 1 yang dimodifikasi. Validasi produk dilakukan oleh ahli dengan menggunakan angket. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar fisika ini dikategorikan sangat layak digunakan dengan persentase capaian 83,25%. Persentase tersebut merupakan rata-rata dari aspek penilaian materi 82,5%, aspek penilaian HOTS dan penilaian pendekatan STEM 81%, aspek penilaian bahasa 86% dan aspek penilaian media 84%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar fisika melalui pendekatan STEM berorientasi HOTS di SMAN Kota Bengkulu pada materi usaha dan energi memenuhi kriteria dengan kualitas sangat layak sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran yang digunakan peserta didik SMA kelas X. ABSTRACT This research was aimed to develop physics teaching material through HOTS oriented STEM approach in SMAN Kota Bengkulu on material of work and energy. The result of this product was teaching material which be used for teacher and student. This research was Research and Development (R&D) with modified Sugiyono level 1 method. Product was validated by experts using questionnaires. Validation results showed that this physics teaching material was categorized as very proper to use with 83,25% achivement percentage. That percentage was average of 82,5% material evaluation aspect, 81% HOTS evaluation aspect and STEM approach evaluation, 86% language evaluation aspect and 84% media evaluation aspect. Therefore can be conclude that physics teaching material through HOTS oriented STEM approach in SMAN Kota Bengkulu on material of work and energy meet the criteria with very proper quality as one of learning media that use by grade X senior high school student. “SORRY” EXPRESS BY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN CIMAHI : SOCIAL CULTURAL EFFECT ON LANGUAGE

Language is tool that use by human for communicate, and as tool to support them as social creature. Language is used by human every day in every situation, that make language become interesting phenomenon. During learning and teaching process that happen in class researcher find out the phenomenon that student use word “sorry” in context of asking permission not context for asking apology or expressing sympathy based on . Methodology of this research is qualitative with descriptive design. The instrument that use is observation, researcher is do observation in classroom activity on the class , and data is find from utterance that make by student during classroom activity. The result of this research most of student use word “sorry” in context of asking permission not for asking apologize. To understand the bigger concept of word sorry better to use bigger subject in research.
