The aim of this study was to determine the functional state of the affected hip joint after hip arthroplasty and to analyse patients’ quality of life during rehabilitation. Materials and methods. The study involved patients with 3rd degree hip osteoarthritis that underwent hip replacement. The research was conducted in three stages: 1) before the operation; 2) early postoperative rehabilitation period (10th – 12th day after the operation); 3) late recovery rehabilitation period (10th – 12th week after the operation). At stages 1 and 2, we examined 140 people (mean age 57.0 ± 9.0 years), at stage 3, 43 patients (mean age 55.81 ± 7.8 years). At all three stages, the patients’ hip range of motion, hip circumference and strength endurance of the affected limb were determined. The function of the hip joint was evaluated using the Harris Hip Score, and the quality of life was estimated with the help of the SF-36 questionnaire. Results. The research revealed that during the rehabilitation period, the range of motion increased significantly, hip flexion being restored best of all. Moreover, we observed a statistically significant increase in strength endurance. However, not all indicators reached normal values by the end of the research. The patients’ quality of life improved due to better physical functioning, general health and vitality as well as lower pain intensity. However, we observed no progress in role functioning due to the emotional state. Evaluation according to the Harris Hip Score showed that before the operation 78.6 % of the patients had unsatisfactory joint function, while during the late rehabilitation period, only 20.9 %, which indicates the treatmentʼs effectiveness. In many countries, burnout due to stress at work is recognized as a professionally related disease. Of great importance for its prevention is the introduction of health-saving technologies. The aim of the research was to assess the state of their psycho-emotional sphere, the adequacy of the methodological complex used for psychodiagnostics, and the effectiveness of short-term psychological assistance projects by means of socialadapting and personal-developing technologies on the example of 2 groups of typical representatives with intellectual type of professional activity. In the study, consisting of three stages, two groups of subjects took voluntary part: 13 methodologists of the University and 20 managers of a trading fi rm. The first stage of the study consisted in the initial psychodiagnostics of indicators of the emotional sphere and functional state of the subjects. Different versions of psychodiagnostic tools were developed for each group. The second stage consisted in development and approbation of projects of short-term psychological help to workers. At the third stage the analysis of indicators of emotional sphere at subjects before and after participation in projects is carried out. The results of the study were processed using the usual methods of variational statistics according to the program Statistica 12.0. Initial psychodiagnostics of the studied parameters of the subjects showed signs of professional burnout. In Methodists, this was manifested by a pronounced degree of chronic fatigue index, a decrease in efficiency, a moderate degree of mental and physical fatigue, maladaptation in stress. Managers are also diagnosed with a high risk of maladjustment in stress, low values of indicators of functional state. In the course of participation in psychopath projects, the subjects of both groups showed positive dynamics of indicators of the emotional sphere. The obtained data allow to recommend these projects of health saving programs for practical use. The tested complex of psychodiagnostic tests allows to reveal signs of professional burnout and to estimate efficiency of programs of psychopathology. For the prevention of burnout syndrome and the formation of stress resistance, it is advisable to create a culture of health conservation at each workplace.

Biofeedback based on electrodermal activity of the skin is used as a method for optimizing the functional state of drivers and assistant drivers of locomotive crews. High-quality inter-trip rest of locomotive crew drivers ensures the preservation of health, labor protection and higher indicators of professionally important psychophysiological qualities necessary for the successful performance of locomotive management activities. The purpose of this work is to determine the nature of the relationship between the relaxation abilities of locomotive crew drivers and their professionally important psychophysiological and personal qualities. The experiment was conducted on the basis of the office of the psychological service of the Motor Car depot in Minsk. A personal computer and the NeuroDog hardware and software complex were used as the equipment for the biofeedback training. A factor analysis of the primary empirical data of subjects who successfully developed the relaxation skill was performed. Factor analysis was carried out using the principal component method and the Varimax method available in the Statistica 10.0 package. The results of the analysis allowed us to determine the structure of psychophysiological and personal qualities of locomotive crew drivers, as well as the degree of their influence on the successful development of relaxation skills. The results obtained will later be used to develop a methodology for training drivers in relaxation skills in accordance with their individual characteristics and algorithms for its implementation in the context of the UPDK-MK hardware and software complex, used by the psychological service of the Belarusian railway to monitor the current state of functional systems of locomotive crew drivers.

The aim of the study was to assess the functional state of the autonomic nervous and cardiovascular systems of workers employed at the thermoshaft oil production. material and methods. Our test group No. 1 was consisted of operators dealing with blowing of wells. Their average age accounted of 30.5 ± 5.1 years; average underground experience amounted to 6.5 ± 2.7 years. Our test group No. 2 included 20 workers who performed their working tasks only on the surface but who had had the underground experience in the past. Their average age was 39.8±6.4 years (p>0.05); average surface experience amounted to 6.4±3.1 years (p>0.05), underground experience - 7.9±2.3 years (p>0.05). Our reference group consisted of 23 office workers never exposed to any adverse occupational factors. Their average age was 31.3±4.6 (p>0.05); average working experience amounted to 6.5±3.4 years (p>0.05). Our research analyzed non-occupational and occupational risk factors, neurophysiologic testing, the examination of vegetative functions, and statistic data processing. Results. 88% of workers in the test group No. 1 had “vegetative” complaints, whereas only 13% had apparent symptoms related to such disorders. Clinical examinations revealed vegetative dysfunction signs in 100% workers in the test group No. 1; in 62% workers in the test group No. 2 (t>2, p<0.05,χ2=10.1); and only in 29% workers in the reference group (t>2, p<0.05, χ2=23.9). Neurophysiologic testing allowed revealing workers from the test group No.1 to show attention decrement and an increase in the speed of mental responses by the end of their work shift. 24% had increased blood pressure, both systolic (up to 152.3±8.4 mm Hg) and diastolic one (up to 87.4±13.7 mm Hg). The absolute risk for workers from the test group No. 1 amounted to 0.8 as per detected functional disorders. It amounted to only 0.2 for workers never exposed to adverse occupational factors. Conclusion. Occupational activities performed by workers employed at thermoshaft oil production result in chronic fatigue. Neuropsychological and physical overloads lead to a decline in adaptation reserves of a body, vegetative disorders, and vascular tone dysfunction, which may be the arterial hypertension predictor.

Objective. The work of railway power dispatchers requires high professionalism. Criteria of successful work are health status, level of psychoemotional tension and adaptability, situational functional status. Assessment of significance in providing professional capacity for work and determination of personal psychological characteristics is of special interest. The aim was to analyze the functional state of an organism and personal psychological parameters in railway power dispatchers so as to determine the possibility of their use as criteria for evaluating stress tolerance and capacity for work including gender features. Materials and methods. The studies on express diagnosis of functional state and individual psychological testing using the method of Cettells sixteen-factor personality questionnaire were implemented among 59 power dispatchers (36 men and 23 women; mean age 40.17 1.37years, record of service 13.4 1.3 years) Results. Express testing of functional state showed the presence of chronic fatigue, distress state and other unfavorable changes in the functional state. Statistically significant differences among the errors while implementing the task by men and women (p 0.05) demonstrate the deeper manifestations of professional stress in women power dispatchers. The obtained data regarding psychological characteristics of power dispatchers mainly satisfy the requirements for implementation of their duties including the tension of labor of class 3.2 regarding communicative and intellectual properties as well, but there was detected the risk for changed emotional and regulatory properties of a person connected, probably, with fatigue and overfatigue as manifestations of professional stress that can cause reduction of the capacity for work. Conclusions. There was demonstrated an adequacy of using the methods for assessment of functional state and psychological parameters of a person as additional criteria for estimation of stress tolerance and capacity for work including gender features.

Abstract. The study examines the relationship between a categorical and a dimensional personality assessment instrument in patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). A total of 162 CFS patients were included in the study (91.4% women; mean age 47.5 years). All subjects completed the Spanish versions of the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4+ (PDQ-4+) and the Temperament and Character Inventory-Revised (TCI-R). Results: 78 (48.1%) of the patients presented a Personality Disorder (PD), the most frequent being Cluster C, specifically Obsessive-compulsive disorder, followed by Avoidant disorder. PDs showed a specific pattern of correlation with temperament scales. All PD clusters correlated positively with Harm Avoidance and Self-Transcendence, and negatively with Reward Dependence, Self-Directedness, and Cooperativeness. In a logistic regression analysis, Self-Directedness and Cooperativeness predicted PD presence. The findings are consistent with previous studies in non-CFS samples and suggest that the combination of the Temperament and Character dimensions (low Self-Directedness and Cooperativeness and high Harm Avoidance and Self-Transcendence) correlates with PD severity, and that Self-Directedness and Cooperativeness are associated with PD presence in CFS patients. The integration of these two perspectives expands the current comprehension of personality pathology in CFS patients.
