Along with the era of globalization and free market an approach for managing quality through testing the final product is considered not able to meet consumer demands. It drives to a new approach based on prevention and control efforts during the process. Hazard analysis critical control point quality management system is considered appropriate because it can prevent the distortion and instead of waiting until the problems arise. The process of handling the fish on the boat as a part of the production chain affects the quality of tuna products, so the application of the hazard analysis critical control point quality management system on board tuna longline is considered important. Effectiveness of hazard analysis critical control point implementation as a quality system control is affected by sanitation standard operating procedure and good handling processing as the basic requirements (pre requisite), where the assessment can be a measure of readiness hazard analysis critical control point implementation. The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of the basic requirements of hazard analysis critical control point implementation in the tuna longline vessels. The research has been carried out by taking 10 samples of tuna longline vessels in the Nusantara Fishing Port of Pelabuhan Ratu and Samudera Fishing Port of Nizam Zachman, Jakarta. The basic requirements of eligibility conditions on longline vessels fishing in the port are pretty good. Results showed general assessment Y values are in the range of 2d”Y<4. This can be concluded that the applications of a pre requisite in sanitation standard operating procedure and good handling processing on tuna longline vessels in the both fishing ports were quite close to the standard, but improvements are still needed

This is a descriptive and quantitative study, carried out in three hospitals in the Northwest of São Paulo, Brazil. It aimed to verify the existence and use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by nursing teams. SOPs describe each critical and sequential step of a task to ensure its expected result. A total of 261 nursing professionals participated in the study, randomly selected from different units and shifts between August and September 2006. Results indicate that 56.7% use SOPs only when they have doubts; 54.02% of the nursing technicians and auxiliaries and 62.86% of nurses do not believe the procedures are being complied with. These findings indicate the need for continuing training on SOP use and compliance by all professionals, with a view to improving nursing care.

Context: The use of standard operating procedures (SOP) in laboratory testing is one of the most crucial factors in achieving the quality. In primary and secondary level laboratory, the scope for microbiological test is limited. Enteric fever is one of the major public health problem in the developing countries, including Bangladesh. An undiagnosed and maltreated case of enteric fever may result in serious complication and even prove fatal. Widal test is the very extensively used serological test in laboratory at all level to aid in the diagnosis of enteric fever. It is the only available practical test for demonstrating antibodies to Salmonella typhi and S. paratyphi. In this study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the present status of microbiology laboratory by comparing the test results of investigator with that of laboratory staff for widal test at primary and secondary level before and after implementation of standard operating procedure (SOP) .Methods: The present study was performed on clinically suspected cases of enteric fever attending at the primary and secondary level laboratories for widal test. A 120 blood samples were collected before implementing SOP and 50 blood samples were collected and tested after following SOP. A cross sectional, descriptive type of study was conducted in Narsingdi Sador Hospital as secondary level microbiology laboratory and Polash Upzilla Health Complex as primary level microbiology laboratoryResults: Before standard operating procedures (SOP), significant titre of widal test was found more by the investigator than the staff at both primary and secondary level. This difference in results was statistically significant (p<0.05). After SOP difference in the results of significant titre of widal test between investigator and staff was not statistically significant (p>0.05).Conclusion: Implementing SOP for widal test and after practicing appropriate and standard techniques for dilution of serum at primary and secondary level, discrepancy in the results of widal test between investigator and staff was reduced and overall quality of tests were improved.J Dhaka Medical College, Vol. 23, No.2, October, 2014, Page 227-233

Abstract Errol Morris's Standard Operating Procedure offers the U.S. soldiers accused of detainee abuse at the Abu Ghraib military prison in Iraq a forum in which to give accounts of their infamous photographs. However, the vexing digitality of those images foregrounds the role of interpretation in the construction of visual evidence.

Internal standard response is routinely monitored in regulated studies to accept or reject individual samples with outlier results due to potential sample processing or instrumentation errors, and processes are typically governed by standard operating procedures. However, acceptance or rejection of individual samples is not always sufficient. Internal standard response trends and substantial systemic differences between spiked and incurred samples using a method with an otherwise stable internal standard response should be investigated. Investigations may range from informal evaluations to detailed studies with formal investigation reports. Atypical internal standard response can be an indicator of systemic problems with a bioanalytical method and modification to allow for a relatively stable internal standard response across an analytical run may be essential.
