Abstract The Meulaboh - Tapak Tuan road is the main access road linking several districts, Aceh Barat, Aceh Barat Daya, Aceh Selatan, and Aceh Tengah. After the earthquake and tsunami hit Aceh, its economies experienced rapid growth. This greatly influences the distribution of traffic volume on specific road segments, including the increasingly congested Meulaboh - Tapak Tuan roads. As a result, the number of private vehicles is increasing. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the performance of roads in the area based on the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual, as well as to analyze the level of road services at present and in the future. The analysis of the road performance can be measure by several indicators such as traffic flow (Q), capacity (C), degree of saturation (DS), free flow velocity (FV), and level of service on the road section. The calculations were obtained from 3 days direct observation in the field from 07:00 to 19:00 with Monday and Thursday representing workdays and Saturday representing weekend. The highest conversion value of traffic flow in 2020 was 1357 pcu/hour for (Q), 2654 pcu/hour for the actual capacity value (C), and 0.51 for the degree of saturation (DS). The analysis results show that the degree of saturation < 0.75. According to Marga (1997), it is considered in good condition with smooth traffic flow at the service level of C. The road performance analysis for the next five years for traffic flow was 2093 pcu/hour for Q and 0.79 for the degree of saturation (DS). The service level is categorized as level D. It is necessary to find solutions and alternatives to reduce the degree of saturation (DS) value by increasing the value of capacity. Keywords: Road Performance, Traffic Volume, Service Level __________________________ Abstrak Ruas jalan lintas Meulaboh – Tapak Tuan merupakan akses yang menghubungkan beberapa kabupaten yaitu Aceh Barat, Aceh Barat Daya, Aceh Selatan, Aceh tengah dan lainnya. Continuous, automatic measurements of road traffic volume allow the obtaining of information on daily, weekly or seasonal fluctuations in road traffic volume. They are the basis for calculating the annual average daily traffic volume, obtaining information about the relevant traffic volume, or calculating indicators for converting traffic volume from short-term measurements to average daily traffic volume. The covid-19 pandemic has contributed to extensive social and economic anomalies worldwide. In addition to the health consequences, the impact on travel behavior on the transport network was also sudden, extensive, and unpredictable. Changes in the transport behavior resulted in different values of traffic volume on the road and street network than before. The article presents road traffic volume analysis in the city before and during the restrictions related to covid-19. Selected traffic characteristics were compared for 2019 and 2020. This analysis made it possible to characterize the daily, weekly and annual variability of traffic volume in 2019 and 2020. Moreover, the article attempts to estimate daily traffic patterns at particular stages of the pandemic. These types of patterns were also constructed for the weeks in 2019 corresponding to these stages of the pandemic. Daily traffic volume distributions in 2020 were compared with the corresponding ones in 2019. The obtained results may be useful in terms of planning operational and strategic activities in the field of traffic management in the city and management in subsequent stages of a pandemic or subsequent pandemics.

The control of roads traffic, of noise, of all other problems which occur on national road sections are much more manageable through Geographic Information Systems. The possibility of changing parameters in real time from a database, allows rapid information on problems encountered and efficient solutions at a more sustained rate. This paper presents a proposed solution to improve the Geographic Information System by adding noise data, by carrying out a case study on the road section Sag - Voiteg that connects Timisoara (Romania) and Belgrade (Serbia). The existing GIS system was established in 2012 according to the legislation in force at the time. As Year 2017 will mark the next stage of issuing the noise maps according to the rules set by CNOSSOS-EU, the measurements done for this study will follow these new methods. CNOSSOS-EU accurately describes the objectives and methodology requirements, establishes clear criteria for road traffic and sound propagation. The advantage of uniformity standards and methods of control in all EU Member States allows comparative studies on pollution, the number of people affected, etc.

There are many cities on the west coast of the Sumatra, which are at high risk of the Tsunami disaster. Regional Regulations on Regional Spatial Planning for each City/ Regency have compiled disaster mitigation by constructing several evacuation roads. This study wants to illustrate: what are the volume of traffic generation and road performance, if there is a Tsunami disaster. The simulation is developed by predicting traffic volume based on parameters, population density, vehicle ownership, land use, and activities in the area around the road. The assessment was carried out on two tsunami evacuation roads in the city of Padang, West Sumatra Province. The results show that the highest traffic volume occurred in the period from 06.30 a.m until 3:00 p.m., during school activities. One of the roads will not be able to accommodate the volume of traffic during a disaster, due to significant traffic congestion. This study shows that: (1) the period of activity and land use are two main parameters, which must be considered in designing tsunami evacuation roads, (2) The degree of saturation ratio and the ratio between the capacity of sections of Tsunami evacuation routes can be proposed as a parameter for assessing the performance of Tsunami evacuation roads in urban areas.

Traffic volume in Semarang City has increased every year due to the increasing number of vehicles. Congestion that occurs at the T-junction intersection Jl. Brigjen Sudiarto - Jl. Majapahit is one of the impacts of high traffic growth and the traffic system is not functioning properly. By considering the geometric conditions of the road, traffic volume, side obstacles and the intersection environment which is a commercial area, it is necessary to analyze the cause of the congestion at the intersection. The research conducted was to conduct a field survey to obtain primary and secondary data which are then processed using intersection management. Planning uses the 1997 Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI) and uses the Excel 2013 program to process traffic data. Traffic data is obtained from recording the number of vehicles in the field for 3 days (April 29, 01 and May 4, 2019) during peak hours and presented in the form of a vehicle data table, then the behavior of the intersection can be analyzed. From the analysis results obtained value of the degree of saturation (DS) at the intersection of Jl. Brigjen Sudiarto - Jl. Majapahit 0.991. This value has exceeded the required value by the 1997 MKJI, DS ≤ 0.85. The analysis shows that the average traffic delay is 141,320 sec / pcu, so this intersection has a Service Level (LOS) F (> 60).

This study aimed at assessing the location and spatial distribution of petrol filling stations along LASU/Isheri Road, Ojo, Lagos state. The objectives are to map out all the petrol filling stations in along Lasu/Isheri road; to examine the volume of traffic along the road corridor; to determine the contribution of petrol filling stations to the traffic volume on the road, and to ascertain the road traffic challenges that are caused by the petrol filling stations (PFS). Geographical Positioning System (GPS) was employed to collect primary data; also, questionnaires and traffic count sheets were employed. The study found that the PFS along the road corridor is clustered with a Z-score of -7.34 and NNI of 0.440285. Also, the maximum peak hour volume was estimated to be 4198.6 pcu/hr. The PFS along the corridor are seen to contribute significantly to the traffic volume on the corridor. Finally, the dominant traffic challenges along the corridor include traffic gridlock which sometimes results into road traffic crashes which are triggered by the concentration of PFS in the study area, the proximity of PFS to a road intersection, overflow of the queue into the roadway, and to a minimal extent parking of tankers along the roadway and lack of setback. This study suggests strategies that can be adopted for locating PFS to ensure the free flow of traffic along the road corridor where they are located.

ABSTRACTSangkuriang St.–Kolonel Masturi St. Intersection, Cimahi City often faces the traffic jam because of the high traffic volume. The existing traffic lights are not used because they are considered to be less effective, so the research needs to be done to solve these problems. This research was conducted with using a survey method directly on the road section on each approach and also its intersection at the peak times, specifically at 06.00–08.00 WIB and 16.00–18.00 WIB. The intersection performance was analyzed using the 1997 Indonesian Road Capacity Manual. In the existing conditions, unsignalised intersections obtained the value of Volume Capacity Ratio ( ) of 1.299 and 1.323 in the morning and evening periods, where the value does not meet the requirements, because the value that obtained is more than 0.85. In the signalised intersection case, geometry adjustments must be made, where in this case, we did a trial with increasing the effective width to 4 m, and we achieved the average value of Volume Capacity Ratio ( ) of 0.76 and it met the requirements where the value is less than 0.85.Keywords: unsignalised intersection, signalised intersection, volume capacity ratio.

Lane changing of traffic flow is a complicated and significsant behavior for traffic safety on the road. Frequent lane changing can cause serious traffic safety issues, particularly on a two-lane road section of a freeway. This study aimed to analyze the effect of significant traffic parameters for traffic safety on lane change frequency using the studied calibrated values for driving logic “conscious” in VISSIM. Video-recorded traffic data were utilized to calibrate the model under specified traffic conditions, and the relationship between observed variables were estimated using simulation plots. The results revealed that changes in average desired speed and traffic volume had a positive relationship with lane change frequency. In addition, lane change frequency was observed to be higher when the speed distribution was set large. 3D surface plots were also developed to show the integrated effect of specified traffic parameters on lane change frequency. Results showed that high average desired speed and large desired speed distribution coupled with high traffic volume increased the lane change frequency tremendously. The study also attempted to develop a regression model to quantify the effect of the observed parameters on lane change frequency. The regression model results showed that desired speed distribution had the highest effect on lane change frequency compared to other traffic parameters. The findings of the current study highlight the most significant traffic parameters that influence the lane change frequency.
