In recent decades, China has transformed from a conventional society into a digitally competitive nation. From an economic perspective, embedded corporate social responsibility (CSR) is gaining a new height where gamified charity is a trendy approach. By adopting the norm activation model from the point of view of the stimulus–organism–response framework, this research theoretically conceptualized the role of the mobile application environment (including telepresence, functional transparency, and accessibility) to map the cognition and philanthropic behavioral intentions of consumers in the gamified setting. The quantified survey comprised 669 respondents. The findings highlighted the critical role of functional transparency and telepresence of a mobile application in driving consumers’ warm glow and ascribed responsibility. The research underlined the presence of the unique DNA of Internet Plus Charity (Public Benefits) for prosocial and pro-environmental purposes in China under the umbrella of philanthropic CSR.

Concentrating on the role of supply chain decoupling point, this chapter introduces different levels of customisation and mass operations and three types of mass customisation. It argues that in each mass customisation type, information systems which are upstream and downstream of the decoupling point can be varied. Consequently, information flows in different types of mass customisation have been examined. This analysis is an endeavour to organise mass customisation information systems across the supply chain, while it can be a useful structure for future researches in this area as well.

Over the past decade, and especially after the scandals that occurred during the last economic recession, there has been a call for business leaders to pay attention not only to maximization of profit but also to corporate social responsibility (CSR). It is argued that responsible leadership can be an appropriate response to the diverse needs and challenges of a complex stakeholder society. The purpose of this explorative study was to investigate top business executives’ understanding of responsible leadership and their perceptions of CSR for stakeholders’ health and wellbeing. Key informant interviews were conducted with ten business executives representing a variety of sectors in East Central Sweden. Content analysis was conducted to detect patterns and categories in the data. business executives understood the role of a responsible leader to involve contribution, inclusiveness, and the creation of community and structure. They viewed CSR and stakeholders’ health and wellbeing largely from an organizational point of view, including their own.

Many parameters are available for evaluating patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) in order to assess the necessity for treatment and to evaluate results. At present there is no real agreement on their order of importance. This paper tries to define from a theoretical and practical point of view the role of the following parameters: symptoms; symptom scores; visual scores; time/voided volume chart; prostate size; uroflowmetry, nomograms for flow; residual urine; pressure/flow study; mathematical and computer processing of pressure/flow study. The Author underlines the critical role of invasive urodynamics (pressure/flow study) in categorizing patients as obstructed or non-obstructed, in grading the severity of outflow obstruction and in evaluating the pattern of detrusor contractility. Present studies to evaluate the results of old and recent treatments should include invasive urodynamics in order to obtain homogeneous groups of patients and to overcome the prevailing empiricism.

The issue of community independence is the central theme of national development which is the responsibility of all elements of the nation, including government, the private sector and any organization. Viewed from the government's point of view, this is clearly seen from the partisanship of empowerment policies and development through village funds that are very adequate to reach a developed and empowered village. The implementation or practice of corporate social responsibility has a direct influence on the role of community institutions and the role of community institutions directly influences the strengthening of community social capital. This community institution directly influences the improvement of community welfare and CSR programs must be able to increase community capacity for long-term activities (sustainable). The company must continue to encourage program recipients to have responsibility and ownership of the program implemented in order to strengthen social capital and the Company must implement a more concrete CSR program in increasing income economically because it is the main goal in the concept triple bottom CSR.

Abstract Today's energy sector has evolved by leaps and bounds in the sphere of Health, Safety, Security and the Environment. The minimization of incidents on board oil and gas platforms and by extension the energy sector continues to be the highest standards of HSSE performance companies aspire to. Our current fiscal environment has forced countries and companies to carefully consider how limited finances are to be utilized and managed to achieve outlined targets. This shrinking financial pie has also seriously impacted on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Plan for companies within the sector. Fiscal management is key in a global village where every dollar counts. In the case of Trinidad and Tobago we must seek to secure our future assets be it through acquisition, maintenance and reliability. CSR must be comprehensively managed ensuring that both the corporate entity and the various indigenous communities get full value for the relationship they might be part of. The free spending attitude is definitely a thing of the past. Proper investments into a company's CSR, particularly where it adds value to the communities where there are vested interests are of paramount importance. This paper will advance the value of having a robust quality benchmarked HSSE portfolio/system utilizing the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) mechanism and how it impacts on company productivity. The role, value and impact of CSR will also be scrutinized highlighting its critical importance in today's changing corporate landscape.

Background: Mitochondria play a central role in ATP-generating processes. Indeed, in mammalian tissues, up to 90% of ATP is generated by mitochondria through the process of oxidative phosphorylation; furthermore, mitochondria are involved in multiple signal transduction pathways. A rapidly expanding body of literature has confirmed that mitochondria play a pivotal role in apoptosis, cardio- and neuro-protection, and various neurodegenerative disorders, ranging from Parkinson’s to Alzheimer’s disease. Mitochondria are also the targets of multiple drugs, some of these are specifically designed to affect mitochondrial function, while others have primary targets in other cellular locations but may interact with mitochondria because of the presence of numerous targets on this organelle. In this regard, mitochondrial potassium (mitoK) channels play a critical role in mitochondrial function and, consequently, in the metabolism of the whole cell. <p> Objective: To describe mitoK channels from a structural point of view and investigate their pathophysiological roles, focusing on possible specific modulators that might be useful as pharmacological tools in the treatment of various pathologies characterized by mitoK involvement. <p> Results: mitoK channels play a decisive role in several pathologies, including cardiovascular diseases, particularly in myocardial infarction and neurodegenerative diseases, and they are emerging as promising oncological targets. <p> Conclusions: mitoK channels represent novel targets, and mitoK channel modulators represent an exciting tool for pharmacological intervention against such pathological conditions.

AbstractGreen concern is making a profound impact on building green competitive advantage (GCA) across the globe. Apparel sector of Bangladesh is at crossroads regarding sustainability of firms. Green initiatives are thus required for ensuring the survival of apparel sector. The current study attempts to examine the interplay among environmental corporate social responsibility (ECSR) dimensions, green corporate image (GCI), and green competitive advantage of firms. To address the research topic, structural equation modeling approach has been adopted. Based on prior research findings, five hypotheses have been devised and finally evaluated by collecting data from 53 apparel firms enlisted with Dhaka Stock Exchange, Bangladesh. The study findings reveal that the ECSR dimensions have critical role to play over building GCI and GCA at the firm level. The study attempted to integrate ECSR, GCI, and GCA and contributes to the holistic understanding of the green anxieties of the business world. Understanding the critical role of ECSR, this study calls for proactive managerial actions regarding organizational sustainability.

ObjectivePostoperative ileus (POI) is assumed to result from myeloid cells infiltrating the intestinalmuscularis externa(ME) in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. In the current study, we investigated the role of infiltrating monocytes in a murine model of intestinal manipulation (IM)-induced POI in order to clarify whether monocytes mediate tissue damage and intestinal dysfunction or they are rather involved in the recovery of gastrointestinal (GI) motility.DesignIM was performed in mice with defective monocyte migration to tissues (C-C motif chemokine receptor 2,Ccr2−/−mice) and wild-type (WT) mice to study the role of monocytes and monocyte-derived macrophages (MΦs) during onset and resolution of ME inflammation.ResultsAt early time points, IM-induced GI transit delay and inflammation were equal in WT andCcr2−/−mice. However, GI transit recovery after IM was significantly delayed inCcr2−/−mice compared with WT mice, associated with increased neutrophil-mediated immunopathology and persistent impaired neuromuscular function. During recovery, monocyte-derived MΦs acquire pro-resolving features that aided in the resolution of inflammation. In line, bone marrow reconstitution and treatment with MΦ colony-stimulating factor 1 enhanced monocyte recruitment and MΦ differentiation and ameliorated GI transit inCcr2−/−mice.ConclusionOur study reveals a critical role for monocyte-derived MΦs in restoring intestinal homeostasis after surgical trauma. From a therapeutic point of view, our data indicate that inappropriate targeting of monocytes may increase neutrophil-mediated immunopathology and prolong the clinical outcome of POI, while future therapies should be aimed at enhancing MΦ physiological repair functions.
