The issue of community independence is the central theme of national development which is the responsibility of all elements of the nation, including government, the private sector and any organization. Viewed from the government's point of view, this is clearly seen from the partisanship of empowerment policies and development through village funds that are very adequate to reach a developed and empowered village. The implementation or practice of corporate social responsibility has a direct influence on the role of community institutions and the role of community institutions directly influences the strengthening of community social capital. This community institution directly influences the improvement of community welfare and CSR programs must be able to increase community capacity for long-term activities (sustainable). The company must continue to encourage program recipients to have responsibility and ownership of the program implemented in order to strengthen social capital and the Company must implement a more concrete CSR program in increasing income economically because it is the main goal in the concept triple bottom CSR.

Reflection about the role of community engagement and corporate social investment in Brazil, associated with the presence of a large economic enterprise, is the major stimulus of this chapter. It seeks to present how cross-sector governance can contribute to the social development of a city and how this process can be led by a partnership comprising a corporate foundation, government, and civil society. The concept of the public–private social partnership (PPSP) is explored: a strategy for building a series of inter-sectoral alliances aimed at promoting the sustainable development of territories where the company has large-scale enterprises, through joint efforts towards integrated long-term strategic planning, around a common agenda. To this end, the case of Canaã dos Carajás is introduced, a municipality in the State of Pará, in the Amazon region, where large-scale mining investment is being carried out by the mining company Vale SA.

Malaysia has adopted several developmental plans since 1969 starting with the New Economic Policy (NEP), passing by the National Development Plan (NDP) and ending with the Vision 2020 adopted in 1991 under the rule of Mahathir Mohammed (1981-2003), whereby Malaysia has aimed to become a developed country by 2020. Looking for the future, Malaysia 2020 should build upon the older developmental plans; however there are some new elements that need to be considered if Malaysia is to continue on its successful developmental path. This paper aims at focusing on the issues that still need to be considered in Vision 2020 from an outsider point of view. This paper addresses the questions of what Malaysia’s economic plans adopted in the past which were able to achieve high economic growth rates while preserving at the same time the social aspects. And the paper focuses on trade policy in Malaysia under Mahathir rule, identifying how was it shaped and how likely it will continue in 2020. The paper identifies the challenges likely to be faced by Malaysia in the coming period and how such issues should be tackled in Vision 2020.

In recent business competition, marketing managers try to satisfying consumers and building stable-long term relationship between company and consumer. The relationship needs consumer’s trust to company. That is why marketing managers are interested in knowing the impact of trust, loyalty and corporate social responsibility (CSR) toward customer retention (repurchase intention) in order to develop the long term profitability of the company. The long term relationship with consumers results in profitability and also impacts of survival and company development. In other word, trust influences toward loyalty and consumer retention. In the same moment, it is not surprising that academicians and practitioner effort to understand trust, customer loyalty, repurchase intention and CSR. This research examines firstly, influence of customer trust toward customer loyalty. Secondly, the research examines influence of customer loyalty toward repurchase intention. Thirdly, the research examines the role of perceived CSR as a moderating variable on the influence customer trust toward customer loyalty. The packaged-drinking water Aqua is taken as the research context because the Aqua company have donated 10 litter clean water in East Indonesia for each of one litter consumer buying. The result of the research shows that perceived CSR play a strong and positive role of influencing trust toward loyalty. Otherwise, trust influences strongly toward loyalty and loyalty influences strong enough toward repurchase intention. The result is expected to give managerial benefit for Aqua Company and also theoretical development in marketing related to the moderation role of perceived CSR in the influence of trust toward loyalty and repurchase intention.

With the purpose of water resources estimation of Aghstafachai-Ganjachai interfluve, geophysical surveys have been carried out. As a result, based on the well data, the maps were developed and interface conditions of the territory specified. The tectonic structure of Aghstafachai-Ganjachai interfluve lowland is associated with the formation of a sole artesian basin on its territory. Aghstafachai, Hasansu, Tovuzchai, Zeyemchai, Shamkirchai, Goshgarchai, Ganjachai and Kurekchai, being the main source of groundwater recharge, created a combined alluvial cone on the territory. The underground water of these rivers were studied in the sloping plain and the estimation of its volume carried out as well. It was revealed that the underground water on a large part of studied territory is fresh and less mineralized. From the bacteriological point of view, it is clean water. The content of microelements and harmful chemical substances in the water does not exceed the standards set for the drinkable water. Despite the long-term usage, the quality of the underground water, the mineralization degree and chemical composition remain unchanged. The regime of underground water is characterized with the irrigated climate type. Hydrogeological indexes and the parameters of ground water horizon in the studied area justify the possibility of their research for water supply.

This chapter aims to clarify the role of social networking sites (SNSs) such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn in building the reputation of enterprises. SNSs have a vast potential in the digital environment to build reputation and thus a long-term competitive advantage for companies. The chapter opts for a literature review with which to discuss the difficulties and possibilities companies have in building reputation through SNSs. The SNSs used in companies are marketing-centered. Engagement is promoted only with customers, and is short-term and centered on results instead of being long-term and centered on competitive advantage and promoting engagement with different stakeholders. This issue is not dependent on the size of the company. Instead, it is dependent on understanding the concept of reputation from a strategic point of view, with companies adapting their management to their own particularities and to the different possibilities offered by SNSs.

Abstract Recent studies with long-term mouse marrow cultures have indicated the importance of the adherent layer as a primary reservoir of the most primitive stem cells, from which derivative stem cells and more differentiated progenitors are continuously generated. We have now examined the role of the adherent cell layer in long-term human marrow cultures from this point of view. Prerequisite to such an undertaking was the development of a nontoxic and reproducible method for detaching the adherent layer and making it into a single-cell suspension suitable for characterization by colony assays. Both trypsin and collagenase could be used to obtain suspensions that met these criteria. Lack of toxicity was demonstrated by the preservation of CFU-E, BFU-E, and CFU- C plating efficiency in fresh human marrow cell suspensions exposed to the same enzymatic treatments. Collagenase treatment of long-term marrow culture adherent layers was considered superior because it freed all hemopoietic colony-forming cells but left some of the other cells still adherent. Using this method, we found that CFU-C, BFU-E, and CFU- G/E were consistently detectable in the adherent layer for at least 8 wk, with the majority of the BFU-E and CFU-G/E being located in the adherent layer (70%-75% after 2–3 wk and more than 90% by 7–8 wk). Although corresponding numerical differences in adherent and nonadherent CFU-C populations were not observed, the colonies derived from them showed marked differences in the size they achieved; the adherent layer being the exclusive site of CFU-C, with a very high proliferative capacity. These findings emphasize the importance of assessing the progenitor content of the adherent layer of long-term human marrow cultures and provide an appropriate methodology.
