Time perception plays a fundamental role in people’s daily life activities, and it is modulated by changes in environmental contexts. Recent studies have observed that attractive faces generally result in temporal dilation and have proposed increased arousal to account for such dilation. However, there is no direct empirical result to evidence such an account. The aim of the current study, therefore, was to clarify the relationship between arousal and the temporal dilation effect of facial attractiveness by introducing a rating of arousal to test the effect of arousal on temporal dilation (Experiment 1) and by regulating arousal via automatic expression suppression to explore the association between arousal and temporal dilation (Experiment 2). As a result, Experiment 1 found that increased arousal mediated the temporal dilation effect of attractive faces; Experiment 2 showed that the downregulation of arousal attenuated the temporal dilation of attractive faces. These results highlighted the role of increased arousal, which is a dominating mechanism of the temporal dilation effect of attractive faces.

This chapter examines the relationship between the state's presence at the urban margins and the depacification of poor people's daily lives in Arquitecto Tucci, focusing in particular on the role of the local police in the neighborhood and the way it partakes in the crime it is supposed to be controlling. It first considers the ways in which the local police see the area and its residents, showing that police agents understand the origins and character of violence as “cultural.” It then presents a series of vignettes to depict the particular presence of the repressive arm of the state in Arquitecto Tucci before discussing police brutality and the highly selective nature of law enforcement when it comes to incarceration of offenders. It argues that law enforcement in Arquitecto Tucci is intermittent, selective, and contradictory.

Highway tunnels play a very important role in people's daily life. Among them, lining is an essential part of tunnel engineering, and the quality of lining greatly affects the overall quality of the tunnel. On this basis, the causes of lining cracks and the detection methods of existing highway tunnel lining cracks are analyzed, and the treatment countermeasures for highway tunnel lining cracks are proposed.

The rapid spread of the COVID pandemic is deeply changing people’s lives and upsetting consolidated models and lifestyles. The social distancing measures for the reduction of contagion have been heavily affecting people’s daily experiences, such as for example the public’s relationship with cultural resources. Museums, in particular, are paying the highest price for that, forced to find new forms for heritage fruition, thus representing an emblematic case. Taking its steps from the analysis of the pandemic’s effects on global museum heritage and of museums’ response, the article focuses then on ICTs’ role as communication languages between heritage and its audiences in the solutions adopted, and on their suitability to the changed context. Finally, reflections on structural and contextual aspects of the dialogue between cultural resources and their public, beyond strictly technological matters, are proposed, to highlight the real extent of the challenges facing the museum sector.

There is no doubt that property inventories provide invaluable information about the lexicon of everyday life. Cars have become an important transportation tool of people's daily life. And how to implement information technology to improve the convenience and intelligence of using vehicle has become the popular research direction. In this paper, the author uses Spring+Hibernate framework and OBD technology to develop vehicle network platform with high portability, scalability, easy maintenance etc. The operation of this platform will greatly increase the intelligence and convenience of the vehicle use, provide practical application and research of the current vehicle network.

Time judgement and time experience are distinct elements of time perception. It is known that time experience tends to be slow, or dilated, when depressed, but there is less certainty or clarity concerning how depression affects time judgement. Here, we use a Bayesian Prediction Error Minimisation (PEM) framework called ‘distrusting the present’ as an explanatory and predictive model of both aspects of time perception. An interval production task was designed to probe and modulate the relationship between time perception and depression. Results showed that hopelessness, a symptom of severe depression, was associated with the ordering of interval lengths, reduced overall error, and dilated time experience. We propose that ‘distrusting the future’ is accompanied by ‘trusting the present’, leading to the experiences of time dilation when depressed or hopeless. Evidence was also found to support a relative difference model of how hopelessness dilates, and arousal accelerates, the rate of experienced time.
